people didn’t often knock on her hotel room. she’d spent so much time with AIDEN and DRACY she just assumed it was one of them. but there had been no texts to prewarn. bare feet tiptoe across the room as phone to her ear, still stuck on a call she’d been on for hours. the room wasn’t exactly a mess, but you could tell she hadn’t tidied since she’d gotten exceedingly drunk the day before.
now in rather cooling pajamas, hair still wet from kayaking, she opened the door with little hesitation. but on opening it, expression becomes far more serious. a slight halt robs her of words before she splutters into a response down the phone, eyes lowering as she stepped aside, gesturing for him to come in. because she wanted to talk, but he’d have to wait.

he wasn’t planning on coming over, but he figured since he hadn’t texted her already, it was better to kick his ass in gear and go see her. he’d texted darcy to ask where she was staying and made his way there as soon as she’d replied --- so here he stands in front of her with his hands in his pockets and shoulders slack. he steps inside with a glance to the floor as soon as she opens the door wide enough for him, perching on the end of the bed as he thinks over what he’ll say when she’s finished. in a way, her being on the phone is a blessing, because he’s truly ill prepared for this. he focussed so much on getting to the hotel that he doesn’t even know what to say; just where to start.
fingers remain balled up in his pockets as he waits for her to finish, his gaze lowered until she finishes. there’s little expression on his face as he looks up at her, waiting for her to start first.
