A Note On The Studyblr Community...
Trying to explain the Studyblr community to those not already within it is actually quite difficult. Many do not understand why a group of people would post pictures of themselves studying, making notes, bullet journals, or buying new school supplies, and yet there is a fairly large community which exists upon Tumblr who do just that.
There are thousands of blogs run by people all over the world dedicated to studying. These bloggers post tips, tricks and resources, as well as many (MANY) pictures of stationery. What has given the rise to such blogs, might you ask? I would argue it probably comes down to the increasing awareness of the importance of education. Whilst many suggest grades aren’t everything (and they aren’t), for many, achieving certain grades enables them to access the next step in their chosen path. With the economic climate being so unstable, students are increasingly aware of how competitive the jobs market is, and thus many strive to attain the best, hoping it will bring some financial security in the future.
Arguably, there are other communities within Tumblr which share similarities. The Fitblrs post content about the ways in which they are improving their fitness and health; the Studyblrs do much the same, although their posts pertain to the improvement usually of academic performance or study habits. Although the motivations and end-goal are different, the habits of each type of blogger is not so dissimilar.
Another important aspect of the Studyblr community is the helps Studyblrs willingly give to others; this assistance comes in the form of invaluable advice and resources which can have a positive impact upon ones education.
Perhaps surprisingly, the Studyblr community are actually not obsessed with grades, or at least not the blogs which I follow. Whilst one might imagine that, as a community focussed on improving our studying, we would expect the highest grades, however that is not at all true. We are not a grades orientated community as much as we are a community who strives to see everyone achieving their full academic potential. I think it is fair to say that we value hard work over grades. If anything, I have found this community very supporting, regardless of whether I achieve what I consider to be a good or a bad grade.
There is also something strangely fulfilling about being a Studyblr. Since creating my blog, I am more focused, more productive and more efficient in my studying. I also feel pleased when I give someone advice, or recommend a resource. The idea that I might be improving another person’s studying and helping them to achieve their goal is hugely positive for me, and for that, I have the Studyblr Community to thank.
