everything is the same right up until the tower breaks, after that we split off into an au
ok so basically this cole has a fun little ability called "yeah i can fuck with the spirits a little… yeah i can just kinda mess with the little triangle shits or wtv its fine" cuz uh his horns are made out of triangle bits. its not the tri-force here, its kinda like rune pieces. or uh. artifacts? idfk
anyway uh basically the tower is split because he used his powers to split it (its held together by the triforce at the top in my au). the game part of the timeline becomes following chancellor cole and fighting him in lil mini battles and puzzles to get the triangle artifacts that the spirits of good are trapped in, but you keep getting shit ones that actually just have fairies in em. by the end you get the final one that actually has the spirits and then you put the triforce back together and release the spirits, but you leanr maladus is still already escaped. you get the power of the spirits and can climb the tower to defeat maladus (in zeldas body) and cole dips once you defeat maladus (cuz hes a pussy but dw). um and then basically this is cole trying to recapture the spirits and shit… assume that spirit tracks takes place seperately from the current loz tl cuz duh its an au. cole wants to recapture the spirits because he wants to re-free maladus, *but* not to free him to capture his power, and also he wants the spirits' power and basically partially to end the whole thing but also he wants control (and revenge) so thats where this universe is at (otherwise peaceful tho)
in the beginning, there were three things. the Whole, the Luxurious, and the Serving. the Luxurious were just that, beings of desire with a need to adorn themselves like a dragon needs its hoard. the Serving were beings that were almost the opposite of the Luxurious, they were humble collectors, and lived harmoniously with eachother and the Luxurious. the Whole was their source of power, a crystalline piece of pure magic.
the Serving had powerful magic, the ability to control. the Luxurious merely had the power to create. how this ability manifested, however, was unique to every individual. some Serving could only control minor things, like the color of their own skin. some Serving could control other beings. legend has it that some Servings even could rewire the way another being's brain worked, effectively controlling them and many others with ease. Luxurious were also powerful but not really to that extent. They also had many different forms of creation, to an infinite degree.
then in one moment, after uncountable years for us but merely days for these ancient beings, the Whole fractured. the created Shards, pieces of pure and infinite magic. but only pieces. most Luxurious and Serving were split and fractured for various reasons along with the Whole, and these beings became Fairies, Spirits, and Demons of varying levels of power. (chancellor cole in this universe is a Luxurious Demon, he broke of from a very powerful Luxurious, and he is left with the power to create Shards.) These broken down beings all are left with fragmented memories of their past. there is rumor that still out there Serving and Luxurious are alive, but there has been no concrete proof of this. One theory is that there are merely echoes of these ancient beings, living amongst us, carrying on a mere fracture of the power these ancient ones had, only in freed from their vessels do they show the true power of their ancient nature.
the Fairies are a mixed bunch. some broke off of Luxurious, some of Serving, some are pieces that melded together of both. these Fairies speak in riddles and ancient mystery, and are some of the most powerful. three of these Fairies have been discovered, but it is theorized there may be a fourth. the three discovered go by the names Din, Nayru, and Farore, and they are said to be the creators of life as we know it, coming together to create Hyrule, then the lands beyond, and everything inhabiting them. they are said to reside in a mythical ship, dubbed the Ghost Ship for its disappearing nature. this ship has been seen by many and boarded by none. it is said only Ancient Magics can board it and survive, the Luxurious, Serving, Fairies, Demons, and Spirits.
ok so im done doing the 'in universe stories and shit' heres whats going on the didnt already get said: there is a foruth fairy that is similar to the last lux (shortened of lusurious im lazy) and the last serv (similar sentiment) in that they rebirth repeatedly and stuff and they would be more powerful but they are trapped in the fairy body. the fairy body affects the other three less because they all found eachother and combined their powers and stuff but the fourth fairy (ciela) is alone and confused for most rebirths (other than a few, ill get to those)
the last lux and serv are zelda and link respectively, zelda having the ability to create music (and instruments) that is magic, and link having the ability to control himself perfectly (he can do anything ever because he has complete control of himself, we ignore the fact that if you suck at the games this becomes untrue). in this universe, if zelda had remained outside of her body for a few years she would have returned to the serving form of like all powerful serving. similarily, if link had been seperated from his body for a few years he would have returned to lux form.
now we go into uh the spirits and demons, also able to be split off from both lux and serving, but only one or the other, not both. maladus was a demon split off from a lux, and the spirits that lockedmaladus away were several weak spirits of both serv and lux descent, combining together to create a more powerful spirit amalgamation that was close to the four fairies in power. this creates the tower and controls maladus to be trapped within the tower.
the cole in this universe was split off from the same lux as maladus, which is why maladus is able to combine with him at the end of spirit tracks. the original lux was rather powerful, which is why cole has the ability to create Shards, but maladus has only the ability to create smoke and fire, because he is a less powerful piece, despite being a high ranking demon. cole needs to free maladus because he wants to be reunited with all his pieces. (cole doesnt even like maladus, he just needs him for his plan)
the ocean god is a spirit in human body, and cole's sidekick is just some demon he is using. the soldiers in the tower are somewhat empty vessels that were supposed ot be filled with spirits, but instead got filled with maladus' further fractured down form once the tower shattered and the spirits were focused on keeping the tower together-ish (see: old woman in the tower). they needed zeldas body to actually get maladus out of the tower, and then once maladus is out they can just get rid of zeldas body and combine. then they get split again and maladus is resealed in the tower and the spirits are back to doing whatevs
basically its all fine and dandy for everyone but cole who is now just back on that grind trying to get gud and find maybe some other pieces of himself before trying that tower again (maladus isnt worth all that trouble at the moment… )
