When Sir Robert Noramby needed an engine to take supplies up to Ulstead castle he had a... unconventional idea. He found an old amercian engine, regauged him & set him to work.

Sir Topham Hatt had more than a few reservations about the idea but Hank soon proved his worth!

Curious, do you have any headcanons for Sigrid of Arlesdale? What can I say, this obscure small railway diesel is fascinating ...

I don’t have a ton for her, but I do have a few thoughts. She likes to make up stories in her spare time, and some of the workers will write them down or record them for her. Some of them have even been submitted to the local library. She really likes the smell of coffee, because she associates it with being able to work.

While she doesn’t necessarily like getting rained on, she enjoys how grateful the workers are when she transports them on rainy days.

Ft. also some concept sketches for Sonny. As I'm sure you can see the diesels are based much more closely to their RWS liveries than their show liveries, especially in the lack of grey faces. I'm not quite sure I like Daisy's design yet, I don't feel like she quite conveys the porcelain feel I want for her. We'll see how that changes as I mess around with her.

Also a friend left me with the amusing comment that Boco looks a bit like a frog, Bear looks like a bee, Daisy looks like a pea plant, and Marshall reminds her of an owl.

Oh also Marshall is Spencer's coach. I don't think Spencer is ever stated to have a designated coach but it seems a liiiittle odd to me that the Duke and Duchess wouldn't have some sort of coach that they normally travel in that's actually theirs as opposed to loaned from the railway. So now Marshall exists. Spencer occasionally calls her Marshmallow or Mally to tease her, and she can and will retaliate with nicknames such as Penny.

Besides Smudger (who we both agree is a cat magnet), which other Narrow Gauges do the cats like best?

Ohhhh - Rusty would be a cat magnet too, 100%. Not only are they warm, but whenever they're running, their engine maintains a low and comforting hum. While a steam engine always carries a risk of a burn if one isn't careful, a cat can very happily drape themselves around Rusty's shoulders while they're working and not have to worry about overheating or getting seared by steam.

They also have a soft spot for Rheneas, because he made the decision to bring treats into the shed for them. There's always a pack of dreamies or some other such delicacy kicking around somewhere; though it has to stay hidden since the cats will absolutely find it and go to town on it if it's left out in the open. Skarloey too has won them over because he chats to them; if you've ever seen an old man holding a full conversation with his cat, you'll know what I mean. He'll yap away to them and sometimes they'll yap back; its quite a common occurrence.

Oh, and I'll put Duke as an honourable mention. He will swear up and down that he doesn't care for cats and dislikes the way they stare at him, but the cliche of the crochety, grouchy old git begrudgingly forming a soft spot for a cat absolutely applies to him.
