Guess who came BACK FROM THE DEAD
(And binged the entire dunmeshi manga)
i love how there's the genre of fix-it fic where the author goes into great granular detail of how our heroes manage to avoid or undo whatever character death or other unpopular choice occurred, in a way that abides by the laws of the fictional universe and definitely required a substantial plot outline, and then there are fix-it fics where the author just went "that's bullshit and didn't happen," and we as readers all go "agreed. carry on."

tuck your innocence goodnight
i repainted this piece in honour of season 2 announcements coming out! can't wait to see my little gutterpunk in action again
i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.
some of you in the notes.. i would say read the room but you didn't even read. the post
you don't have to want to spend time with kids, but you have to treat them fairly. they're human beings, and vulnerable ones at that
there's a big difference between not wanting kids/not enjoying spending time with them/finding they contribute to sensory issues, and hating their very existence. talking all the time about how you hate kids just makes you an asshole
kids aren't evil or awful or purposely annoying you. they're new to the world, they're exploring and figuring out how things work
also, as someone who has worked with kids, you can't ascribe adult behaviors to them. for example, if a kid points out your acne or body hair, they're almost definitely not trying to be rude like an adult might be. they're curious about what things are and how they work, they just want to understand and learn new things
we were all kids once. treat them with the respect and understanding that you either were or should have been treated with as a child.
I liked it better when Katara released Aang from his 100 year slumber through the pure unfiltered rage of a feminist rant at her brother
Josha StradowskiĀ inĀ The Wheel of TimeĀ (s2) asĀ Rand al'Thor
We donāt talk about Leia killing Jabba enough. Her grandmother and father were born into slavery. Her blood was that of the desert sand and the shackles of bondage. Leia was never more a Skywalker than the day she strangled her slave master with the very chains he used to bind her. The daughter of Anakin Skywalker was the one who killed Tatooineās most notorious slaver, and I find that really beautiful.

Well shit, Henry Jenkins, out here in 1997 dropping truth bombs
Oh hey I need this for a research paper I'm writing, thank you!
i mean he had been out here since 1988 dropping such bombs:
"'fandom' is a vehicle of marginalized subcultural groups (women, the young, gays, etc.) to pry open space for their cultural concerns within dominant representations; it is a way of appropriating media texts and rereading them in a way that serves different interests, a way of transforming mass culture into a popular culture"
Jenkins, Henry. āStar Trek Rerun, Reread, Rewritten: Fan Writing as Textual Poaching.ā Critical Studies in Mass Communication 5, no. 2 (1988): 85ā107. https://doi.org/10.1080/15295038809366691. Ā
there are even some earlier works in fan studies but thatās what i have ready to hand.Ā
Very interesting.
