remember when, before volpina aired, the creators trolled the fanbase by making it seem like lila would be a new miraculous hero, only for volpina to come around and have her be an akumatized villain to trick ladybug and chat noir. show runners do that kind of thing a lot and it’s in good fun i guess

the weird thing is that they sorta did that again with chloe… except it’s more than just teasing fans with concept art and whatever, she got the bee miraculous in canon, promotional material showed her off as queen bee, and it’s not just her getting it by accident in the first episodes that she has it, other episodes have her fight alongside the heroes too, like the heroes day eps. a conflict is set up between chloe and lila to show that she’s better than the other mean girl?

but miracle queen has chloe revert to being a villain and season 4 is going to introduce another character to be the bee miraculous holder (somewhat similar to how, after volpina, it was revealed the real fox miraculous holder would be alya). like… the first time it’s a prank, but this time it just feels like the writers couldn’t decide on what they were doing with chloe for a while.

&i’m not convinced they know what they’re doing with lila either. her characterization is consistent, but it’s weird how she’s this minor villain who feels like she should be a major villain, she’s not in the s3 finale, her goal seems to be to get closer to adrien and it’s not working and we don’t have insight on what she’s gonna do about it..? and also get revenge on ladybug/marinette & yeah again no idea how that’s going after ladybug (the episode)

tbh i didn’t hate the finale at all but it’s a weird way to end the season like it’s not exactly a cliffhanger? but there’s loose threads i guess. when s1 ended with volpina that’s sort of a cliffhanger as well but it made me interested in what’d happen and get hyped for like, fox alya and lila’s return and stuff but this ending just makes me concerned for how much messier this is gonna get with more wasted potential

some looses hcs about lila that will probably be disproven by canon bc we don't really know much about her so anything can be revealed about her really

she's homesick. her room has the italian flag and photos from italy all over it. it was hinted by astruc that she's lying about being italian, but I really hate that idea (because for all her bragging she doesn't brag about being italian, and if she was going to lie wouldn't it make sense for her to say she's from somewhere where lots of the celebrities she claims to know live or something?) and want to believe he was just trolling.

so she misses home and so wasn't excited about moving to paris (I'm imagining that she has lived in other countries and did before coming to france, she had just been hoping to go back to italy after her last home). she warmed up to the idea after being sold on the concept of paris being a really romantic place, by the media or maybe by her mom making a comment about it to cheer her up or something.

her 'love' for adrien is superficial, but she's not consciously aware of it. she's a young girl who hasn't really been in love before, and is caught up in the fantasy of finding love in paris with a famous prettyboy. she's got a romantic attitude and isn't just faking when she calls adrien 'perfect'. but yeah it's not real love and maybe she will realise this as she spends more time pursuing adrien or when she experiences it for real...

she doesn't exactly have a soft spot for kids or anything, but the way they eagerly listen to her lies and get so impressed is a real ego boost so she enjoys babysitting for nino (as we see her babysit chris) and other friends (like alya maybe).

she's interested in special fx and costume design. it's likely that she's into acting but I think this would be more interesting like, she does some amateur effects to trick her class into thinking she's overseas, and she's got a lot of masks in her room. it'd also be interesting since she's so determined to be the centre of attention and her interest is actually working from behind the scenes... i can see her not recognising her passion for it because of that until really thinking about it

the progression of ladybug and chat noir wanting to save lila, being unable to, learning that some people never change and you can't save everyone, culminating in an epic scene where adrien learns the truth about why hawkmoth is doing what he's been doing and is faced with the decision to help him or continue fighting, with him choosing not to try saving his mother because of what he's learned after lila could have been really amazing

but instead they just kinda hate lila from the start and so it doesn't really feel like they're trying all that hard to save her... like they offer her chances at redemption and when she rejects them they're not upset or anything they just shrug their shoulders and accept it

also would have been cool to see lila affect marinette & adrien's views on people in general like can you imagine if marinette started off hating lila bc she judges people on the surface, while adrien really sympathized with her because he wants to see the best in people, and they both developed to have more realistic views instead of being overly cynical or idealistic respectively... if lila was a multifaceted character with good and bad moments that both confirm and deny the heroes first impressions of her and help them see people aren't all good or all bad... this can lead into them developing fairer feelings toward each other as well... maybe marinette starts the series with a harsher view on chat noir than canon and grows to appreciate him, while adrien's idealistic views on ladybug are challenged and he ultimately still loves her (after deciding he can't like lila after seeing her bad side maybe...)
