Eris was a goddess, a surface wound like this wouldn’t do anything to hurt or harm her, but Catherine didn’t like the look of it. Pressing a kitchen towel into the wound, she dragged her ever so clumsy girlfriend behind her to the bathroom where she cleaned off and bandaged the cut. She’s fine, she’ll be fine. The words ran circles in her mind, but Catherine’s heart had yet to settle. When it had all happened, it was as if everything was in slow motion and she couldn’t stop it fast enough. She’d been a moment too late to reach out, to say something - and then there was the ichor. It was beautiful in a dangerous way, the evidence of harm done to a god of Olympus. ❝I’m not mad, I promise, just don’t do that again, okay?❞ You scared me.
She knew better. Of course she did, but in her nervousness she tried to show off for Cat and instead made a fool of herself. Again.
Eris wanted to impress her, to be good at the things Cat was good at. They were compatible between the sheets, but Eris knew that sex could only attract people for so long. Sooner or later her lover would find someone else. Someone who shared her interests and fit into her life. Sooner or later she would leave.
“It’s fine.” Snatching her hand back, Eris turned to hide the tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks. “I’m fine.”
