it’s so funny how they try to portray merlin as this embarrassing loser fool who brings chaos wherever he goes as if he didnt have like. a genuine harem. like all the knights of the round table are so unashamed of how they prefer him over arthur. gwen basically had a brief crush on him. morgana literally said “you’re not like merlin. he’s a lover” everyone who knows him is constantly talking about how pure and brave and selfless he is. lancelot knew he had magic and was js like okay with the idea of constantly lying, placing his own life in danger for him cuz that’s his little buddy. gwaine was LITERALLY in love with him. i don’t know what merwaine had going on but they probably hooked up the night they first met and don’t even get me STARTED on arthur pendragon
The misconception about merwaine is that Gwaine is some suave dude who's flirting a shit ton with Merlin, knows exactly what he wants and how he feels. No, no, no friend. Gwaine is a wreck. He's hopeless. He's on his knees.
This is the man who said "Everyone gets tired of me eventually." He's a jumpy cat! Scared of intimacy. He doesn't know how to handle Merlin. He'd do anything for Merlin but he's quiet about it. He just shows up when he's needed cause he's got a 6th sense for when His Merlin™ needs help. And he can't lose this. Can't lose Merlin. Can't fuck it up like everything else. So he's gotta be useful. He's gotta serve where he can.
Merlin is the one encouraging more and more out of the relationship, luring this fool into being loved and appreciated. Til one day he goes "I love you, you know?" It's a quiet thing. Simple. Easy. Sweet. And no. Gwaine does not know. You wanna know why? He's a WRECK. But he's not a complete idiot the man of his dreams just told him he loved him, boom they're together. They have fun and make jokes during sex. They've got a playful banter thing going on, they're gigglin like teenagers they're even more insufferable than before no one thought it could get worse and everyone thought they were already together.
fascinating of them to make Gwaine part of the Great Tragedy again at the very end. Arthur dies slowly in Merlin's arms and Merlin is left to walk the earth waiting on him but Gwaine died in their absence. and you just know that hurt because Merlin was the first person that Gwaine was ever really attached to and Arthur repealed his father's judgement to give Gwaine a home. that last episode is absolutely about Arthur dying with Merlin but to me it's also about Gwaine dying without. about Merlin losing arguably his closest friend and not even being there to know it until he'd already lost the love of his life. Magic, Strength, and Courage reinforced at the very End, when Strength gives out and Courage can't hold on any longer and Magic has to continue on alone because Magic has always been and will always be

You gotta be really publicly passionate about things if you want your friends to text you. Bc people will forget to text you because they’re human. But if you’re really openly the friend who loves identifying ants your friends will think of you when they see ants. And they’ll text you “what ant is this [blurry photo]”. And then they’ll ask you how you’ve been and we should get coffee sometime. But if they don’t know what you love they’ll never know what you like
And then when the ant convention is in town they’ll be like dude… we should go to the ant convention. But they would never think to go if they didn’t know u loved ants
And sometimes you need to ask them to go to the ant convention. But you Will not get anywhere hiding your passions

The thing is that sex scenes actually are incredible ways to explore character. People are at their most vulnerable during sex! The way they have sex says a lot of very interesting things about their desires, obviously, but also their psychology, their vulnerabilities, their hopes and fears, etc. It is completely insane to me to think that sex scenes have no value other than to sexually excite the audience. And even if their only value is to sexual excite the audience - SO WHAT?? A movie is supposed to excite and entertain you! Grow up!!!
