[ LMAO the concept -- the CONCEPT of Sonic characters auto being ‘white’ is so weird to me? Ya’ll realise their origins are JAPANESE yes? So like? They’re-- they’re Japanese? They’re not white to begin with?
And like what? Making them non-white is gonna ‘destroy’ their character? Heaven forbid they have colour in their skin tone!!

ATTENTION WAS SOLELY ON ECHIDNA, listening as if the others explanation made almost NO SENSE. the chaos emeralds had disappeared so long ago from what he had BEEN told…knuckles didn’t remember the emeralds, only hearing STORIES of them, but hedgehog gave a slight, unsure grin at explanation. almost wanting to IGNORE the fact that he might be in another place that wasn’t his own….though, gears turn and fingers snap.
“ the connected! my…home is connected to your home…like it is with among the other CONNECTED. that makes sense…though, the chaos emeralds disappeared YEARS ago from i was told…before knuckles could walk….” crimson hues narrow slightly, not sure if he could trust that explanation but it would EXPLAIN some things. “ if you don’t know me here…sally said that i should introduce myself TO PEOPLE.”
“ my names sonic.exe….but everyone CALLS me exe because i don’t like the name sonic….”
“The connected? Uh, yeah, sure bud. Whatever you wanna call it. Point is you’re not from here, you’re from there.” Knuckles was just gonna gloss over the part about the Chaos Emeralds disappearing. An uncomfortable shudder washed through him but the echidna stubbornly refused to acknowledge it. Show no weakness.
So what? Was Sally like this guy’s sister or mom or something? He sure spoke of her highly. The name came as a surprise. Knuckles blinked, gave a small smile. Alright, alright ; he could respect that.
“Exe, huh? Well. You already know my name, but just to keep it even, I’m Knuckles.”

IRRITATED TONES CATCH TORN EARS, BROWS furrow slightly, hands going up to show that he meant no HARM, confusion coming forth, wanting to defend MOTION that they had in fact met before but he shifts, leaning forward, bloody tears dripping to the ground with CURIOUS EXPRESSION. perhaps this wasn’t knuckles…the smell was OFF. not to mention the energies were also different. SNIFFING softly, exe blinks at question…scratching at CHIN.
“ well, I WAS going to use this gadget you-er, well, knuckles gave me….” he shows off the bracelet that apparently would have helped him get up, HAVING seen knuckles do it thousands of TIMES, “ but before i even GOT TO TRY IT out, i was uh, already up here….kinda weird, there was a BRIGHT light though, and it felt like i was falling…kinda like how i disappear and reappear but more POWERFUL. “
A heavy sigh left him: that irritation was, semi-dying down. It was weird hearing that ‘name’ being told to him instead of said of him. “That light you’re talking about was probably a Chaos Control ; the Chaos Emeralds can get a bit... out of whack at times. It causes them without meaning to.
So. You got pulled here via a Chaos Control accidentally. Which means,” but that didn’t make sense: how could this guy know him, if Knuckles had no idea who he was? The gears turned in Knuckles’ head, foot tapped as he thought carefully. His voice was slow, deliberate, “you’re from another place. Some place that I am where I know you, but here I don’t know you.”

CONFUSION FLICKERS FORTH. brows furrowing as CROSSED arms drop slightly, staring intently at echidna, almost thinking that this was SOME WEIRD joke ( though, knuckles wasn’t really one for jokes…hell, he didn’t trust him as much as the others did ) but hedgehog scratches at his head. NOTICING CONCERN, the confusion and exe tries to think of something that would explain this.
“ we KNOW each other? you’re knuckles…i would know you anywhere? you threw A PUNCH at me like a few weeks ago for PAYBACK? sally had to pull you off? my names exe? “ perhaps jogging memory would HELP? “ did you hit YOUR head or something? why are you up here? HOW did you get up here so fast? “
“No, we don’t know each other. For some reason you know me. I’ve never met you before.” Knuckles’ was starting to sound irritated now ; he was confused, and whenever he felt confused, he’d default to anger or deflection. He hated being confused & lost on things. He huffed, arms crossed as his foot tapped a bit.
“I’m feeling perfectly fine. You’re the one mistaking a stranger for a friend,” although it was very weird that his hedgehog knew his ‘name’. Well, the name that Knuckles introduced himself as ( he’d dropped his given name ever since... ). “how did you get up here?”

[💎] The child’s face held concern as he looked at his friend. Tails could tell that Knuckles was far from fine. He looked rather ill, to say the least. Was he sick? The little fox didn’t think he ever saw him like this before. He didn’t think he could get sick at all. But here he was, on his hands and knees, looking sicker than a dog.
“I think you’re sick, Knuckles. You should rest. Rest is good when you’re not feeling well! I can take care of you if you want! I’m not about to leave you when you’re not well.”
Normally, Knuckles wouldn’t accept help. He was too proud. For as many strides as the 16 year old had made since meeting Sonic & Co., his pride was still one of his many personal hurdles. He had never felt like this before, though. Chaos, his head felt like it might split open--
“...Y-Yea. Thanks, Tails.” he reached out, hand grasping at nothing but air, fingers shook inside of his gloves; eventually, Knuckles’ hand weakly landed on Tails’ shoulder. He grunted, shakily standing on his knees. Ooh, the world shouldn’t be spinning...

“I-I’m fine,” he wasn’t : Knuckles had pushed himself too hard. His muscles felt tired, his head felt like it was going to rupture. What in Chaos’ name was happening? He exhaled, vision spun before he was on his hands and knees. Visibly sweating, breathing low, laboured.

“D-Do you mean literally or metaphorically?” either way ; Knuckles was, intrigued. He wanted to understand what this stranger was talking about ( didn’t help that this was Knuckles’ first time interacting with another person, ever since his tribe had vanished ).

FEET STUMBLE SLIGHTLY, almost surprised at the sudden bump into, not expecting to FIND ANYONE on floating island. hell, he hadn’t EXPECTED KNUCKLES to be up on the island at all considering he had been in KNOTHOLE when he had left to explore zone with clear mind. crimson hues narrow slightly, straightening himself out, leaning FORWARD to sniff slightly at echidna…noticing DIFFERENCES but hedgehog grins slightly, ignoring them. it had only been a FEW MONTHS since he had met knuckles and everyone when he was clear minded….maybe this was how the echidna USUALLY was?
“ knuckles….you KNEW i was coming up here? you gave ME PERMISSION to come up here…” fifteen year old raises a brow, arms crossing, “ how’d you GET UP here so fast? if you were gonna come you could have left KNOTHOLE with me? “
a beat of silence, head tilting before grin falters for a moment, “ did SALLY send ya to BABYSIT? i told her that i was fine…but since you’re here….i thought this place was DESTROYED? BODIES littering everywhere…and where’s the corruption? “
....What was happening? Knuckles just sort of nodded along, growing visibly concerned & confused as the seconds ticked by them both. How did this stranger know his name? How did Knuckles give permission for someone to come onto his island? Who was Sally? What was a knot hole?
“I-- don’t know how you know my name, but I think ya got me confused with someone else there, Bud.” Knuckles raised a hand to scratch along the top of his head.

“Oh, sorry.” he hadn’t meant to bump into the shorter hedgehog ; 15 year old Knuckles had been on his way to check on the Master Emerald and--. Wait. He stopped, brows furrowed. This island was floating, in the sky. Far, far above the rest of Mobius. How did this guy get up here?
“You uh, lost bud?”
