Okay enough about Sophie’s canon love triangle, it’s been solved and Keefe won. Can we talk about BIANA’S love triangle??

Tam stealing a glance at Biana.

Biana coming up with her and Dex’s ship name.

Biana’s eyebrows shooting up to the heavens when Dex suggested he might not register for matchmaking.

Fitz teasing Biana about how she has a thing for silver bangs.

Not to mention that conversation mentioned in lodestar where Alden and Della sat Biana down to discuss what boys she liked.

I wanna know what’s going on in Biana love triangle land. Although if Biana were to choose Tam it would really suck to be Dex. Imagine you’re this sweet guy from a stable family and all your crushes keep going for the difficult guys with troubled home lives

THIS!!! I always think about this. And I’ve always thought Dex was a better match and would balance out better with Biana than Tam. He has the perspective of being in a family scorned whilst she grew up in the utmost privilege and they’ve been able to share their traumas together. They’re relationship i feel like has been built up and up since the first few books up until now. dex “You’re officially my favourite person” diznee.

I feel like Tam and Biana thinking each other are cute and stuff will not be endgame, because Dex and Biana have built such a closeness.

My friend sent this to me, she found it on pinterest and it made me so happy because I’ve literally been saying this for years. And I think it’s REALLY worth reading. This doesn’t mean he is a perfect person by any means, but he is a flawed character, who is actually one of the most realistic.

you say you want more complex characters, but you cant even handle him.

he was raised to the ideals of perfection, and then every belief he ever held and everything he was ever taught about the world was lipped upside down and churned into a grinder. his Father s mind broke, sanity shattered, with no known cure for that, would you expect a teenage boy to cope perfectly with that?

his older brother, whom he hero-worshipped, betrayed everyone at enormous cost and maybe even lives. would you expect a teenage boy to cope pertectly with that! he had always been the golden boy, and no matter how much you try to tell me you’d be utterly humble in that situation everybody has pride and conceit, then a girl who knew nothing about everything came along and stole the whole limelight. would you expect a teenage boy to not be even a tiny bit Jealous, no matter how hard he tries to be supportive, no matter how much he like-likes her? and he was supportive.

he was among the very first to be on her side, and he remained loyal, hell, he Threw everything to hell and followed her to the mountain and Alluveterre afterwards. he like-liked her, you cant accuse him of not matching your ideals just because he wasnt an absolute dope for her from the very start, because she didnt have his level of feelings returned. feelings are complex. you cant turn emotions on and off.

As for his surface-level involvement with Linh hes gentlemanly, he helps a girl out. he's a teenage boy of course he likes a pretty girl, for gods sake, and not even like-like, remember. he wasnt sworn to sophie then, hadnt even started flirting. for the matchmaking business, dont tell me social constructs hold absolutely no sway over you, would your want to hear about it Forever from everyone, and have your family dragged through it too? because elves live Forever. he wasnt being an asshole. he was being practical, his approach is flawed, yes-because he's a teenage boy who doesnt know how to handle relationships, how to handle trauma, how to handle his entire world being ripped apart.

is sophie jealous of him having a family? absolutely. is his best friend really his best friend when he went and felt up and kissed his ex of literally a few days? tell me that, and then —is he really the asshole for wanting clarity when his life is murky everywhere?”

The way King Dimitar talks about the flood Linh caused made it sound like there were plenty of casualties. Possibly innocent citizens and children.

Which makes it interesting how easy it would be for them to he the villain of a lot of the orge’s stories. Technically if this is true Linh is kind of a murderer.

Like seriously can’t be mad at Bo for not wanting to body guard Linh, I feel like he should have never been made to do that.

If telepaths are so rare then why do we keep meeting them

I think it’s because Telepaths are higher valued abilities in the lost cities, and are typically nobility and important people. And Sophie is constantly around nobility and very important lords and ladies because she’s always making world changing decisions and has the weight of the cities on her shoulders. It makes sense in my opinion.

Just had a sit down and tried to think of any characters I genuinely hate in KotLC, because I come to the defence of like pretty much any of the main characters or heavily involved side characters.

And genuinely, the only characters I very much dislike are Councillor Emery and Councillor Alina.

Like I can find redeemable qualities in every other character, but none others have also made me feel as much rage as Emery, and none have made me more annoyed than Alina.

Just imagine how gorgeous and unbelievably stunning Elvin wedding dresses would be. Like they definitely wouldn’t be white because that’s a human (and a bit more recent) thing.

They would be SOOOO over the top and extravagant. I want to see one in the books so bad but I doubt there will be one.

I still can’t believe that some people call Sophie stuck up especially for the later books! Like she is a traumatised girl whose life is put in danger almost every day of her life. She’s sick of losing and being behind and getting NOTHING DONE! Sophie had SO much character development—she became confident. She took risks that needed to be taken. She has been taking initiative. Like these people are literally upset and whining that Sophie isn’t an insecure helpless girl anymore.

Also when they say she’s too “reckless”—girl literally overthinks all the time and evaluates the pros and cons of what she does before she does it. Usually she is in a dire situation that she has to act on immediately.

Honestly people hating on Sophie are people who cannot handle character development and a girl who is confident in themselves. Sophie isn’t a brat, you just can’t handle her❤️

Sophie foster is a shit character. There, I said it.

“She has so much character development” over how many books again? She spends the entire series sitting around, at sleepovers, choosing the easy way out of things. The only time she took agency and did something was when she burnt down the never seen storage house (where, let me remind you, she didn’t even have the sense to keep the book) and immediately her friends reprimand her for the “massive change in character” and she apologises and grovels at there feet, promising to never do it again.

Sophie foster takes one tentative step forwards, then immediately runs a kilometre back.

All in all she remains the same girl she was in the beginning.

Now I can’t remember clearly what happens in the later books, but I know for certain that she never becomes anything but the girl who has a mental breakdown over being told literally anything, including “Sophie you’re actually fifteen, not fourteen!” *cue quiet sobbing*

And whatever confidence she may have summoned up in the later books would’ve be far too late coming. She’s quite literally the most powerful elf in the entire series, all her powers are handed to her from the beginning. Where the fuck was the confidence then?

But aside from that you seem cool thanks for not supporting child x adult ships

The fact that Fitz told his best friend who very obviously had a crush on Sophie to paint a romantic picture of Sophie Fitz proves to me that he wasn't a good friend.

If Fitz was willing to do that then his friendship with Keefe was always going to fail.

You do realise that Sophie was Fitz’s literal girlfriend at the time right? I’m sorry but that’s such a shallow way to paint his character when context isn’t provided.

He was so focused on his own feelings towards Sophie, why would he recognise his best friend’s feelings for HIS girlfriend? He trusts Keefe and that’s why he did it.

I don’t see how asking your best friend—who was obviously not aware of his crush—to help make a special gift for his girlfriend is bad.

Yes, they were dating, but of all of the gifts he had gotten her, he chose to get his friend to make one for him. I don't hate Fitz, but the gift feels impersonal after the other things he's gotten her.

He didnt get Keefe to just paint a picture…

Fitz projected his OWN memory for Sophie. But because he doesn’t have a photographic memory it didn’t come out perfect, so he got Keefe to ONLY touch it up because he knew his friend was a great artist and wanted his gift to be just right for Sophie.

Seriously that gift was very personal and you’re acting like he just got Keefe to paint a whole picture and him having no part in it.
