I think about Oralie at the peace summit far too often.
You're a world leader at a peace summit, wearing an outfit to (probably) honour your dead lover. Everyone at the peace summit collectively agrees that it is necessary to have the convicted killer of your lover be present right now. You ask "why the fuck would we do that, he is a murderer" the response is "aren't we all?" and everyone decides this is sound logic. He shows up and immediately makes a joke about how he is a murderer, then insults all the other world leaders who voted for him to be here, calls you predictable, and leaves. Then the entire building collapses in on itself, two of the guys who were in the prison in the basement, attack you. One of them has already previously threatened to cut your head off because you called him useless and that one now has a sword, so he tries to make good on his threat, the other one is capable of starting fires. You are very afraid of fire. The leader of a rebel organization, which you're kind of part of, shows up and shoves one of the guys under a chunk of falling ceiling, killing him brutally. You watch his brain splatter across the floor. The rebellion leader immediately gets stabbed by the guy who tried to cut off your head (who then just kind of leaves?) You're now sitting in a room with a man whose head has just been crushed by a large chunk of rock (you wrap the corpse in a tablecloth? I think?) and a man who is actively bleeding out. 2 young children, one of whom is your daughter, round the corner and watch this guy bleed out. They leave and you have to dispose of 2 bodies alone. You have to somehow explain being completely covered in blood to your coworkers after you show up to the "I didn't die" area of the lawn, wildly, incredibly, late. When you get there, one of your coworkers is missing a leg.

THE POTENTIAL
Gethen and Gisela to me for some reason:
When I'm procrastinating, my mind tends to wander to this one particular thing that Gethen said to Keefe at the end of Everblaze -
"We take good care of your mother. Way better than you or your dad ever did."
I've spent more time thinking about this than I can admit. I know kotlc isn't YA, but that's freaky.
oh my god can i transfer my period cramps onto gethen.
