For inspiration and motivation...I need a lot of both this semester. I’m enrolled in four studio classes, which if you’ve ever been through art school you know is a hefty undertaking, and I am really overwhelmed right now. I also put way too much pressure on myself to excel. I know I need to let go of my perfectionistic tendencies and stop being so hard on myself. I worry a lot about not being good enough. But I keep reminding myself that it is enough just to try, and failure is a normal occurrence when learning new things. After all, failure is just there to inform you in a different direction. Latest work. Actually this is just a sample piece that I went too nuts on and spent way too much time on. But hopefully that will just translate into a really solid final piece, though I have a feeling it will take on a bit of a different form in its next iteration. This one has some design flaws. For one, I used way too thin of metal for the ring shank and my prongs are too short. I created these little Frida rings on Matrix to practice my CAD skills, then had them 3D printed with @shapeways. They didn’t turn out exactly like I wanted them to so I need to go back and do some tweaks, but I thought it would be fun to do a little giveaway with these two prototypes. I made the ring size way too small so they are definitely pinky rings, size 3.5/4 US. Remember the renderings I posted a while back of the collection I designed on Matrix? This is the ring from that collection that @shapeways printed in wax and then cast in sterling silver. I added a little patina to make the details stand out more, and filed down the tips a bit because they were a bit weapon-like. 😳 But all and all it turned out pretty cool! I’m thinking about offering this design in my shop, what do you think?
I designed these earrings using Matrix, a computer aided design program, and had them 3D printed in versatile plastic at @shapeways. I love how they turned out! Super lightweight and durable. Latest work. “For The Tender Hearted”. Sterling silver, copper, turquoise, deer antler. I started this piece, and it’s soon to be completed sister piece, from two pieces of scrap copper that were left over from cutting out a circular disc from sheet. I found that natural shape the cutting had made interesting and beautiful, and from there I began. Sometimes I don’t know at the beginning what a piece will look like when it’s finished, I just let it unfold as I go, and see where it takes me... I have this piece listed for sale in my online shop!

One last project I forgot to post! This was a collection I created for my computer aided design class. My design was inspired by water and the different forms it takes: dew drops, icicles, waves, ripples...scroll through to see the complete collection. 💦
Last final project posting! This is the completed holloware piece I posted a couple of work in progress photos of a few weeks back. The entire piece is 100% hand forged copper and brass. I was exploring the idea of creating the perfect habitat for an air plant. So the piece is aptly titled, “Habitat”. Incredibly clever, right?! 🤓😏
