Remember this viral post? Wanda and Jamal and her husband Lonnie are the most wholesome people, this story brought tears to my eyes originally and I am crying once more learning from Jamal's social media that Lonnie has sadly passed away.
Rest in Peace, Lonnie :(
Whenever I lose faith in humanity, I remember these four lovely folks and feel a little better đ„ș

it is truly almost incomprehensible that israel's week-long bombing of lebanon is the most intense aerial campaign in the 21st century, outpacing the american bombing of raqqa and anything russia has done. it's insane. all carried out with the full agreement of the US government
this is, moreover, admitted by CNN:
Israel has pummeled Lebanon with an unprecedented airstrike campaign in less than three weeks, killing over 1,400 people, injuring nearly 7,500âŻothers and displacing more than one million people from their homes, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The bombardment, which Israel says is targeting Hezbollah strongholds in the country, marks the worldâs âmost intense aerial campaignâ outside of Gaza in the last two decades, according to the conflict monitoring group Airwars. Israelâs strikes are occurring at âa level and intensity that Israelâs own allies just simply would not have carried out in the last 20 years,â Emily Tripp, director of the UK-based group, told CNN. She pointed to the United States-led military campaign against ISIS in 2017, where, at the height of the battle for Raqqa â the terror groupâs de facto capital â 500 munitions were deployed in a single day. Over the course of two days, on September 24 and September 25, the Israel military said it used 2,000 munitions and carried out 3,000 strikes. In comparison, for most of Americaâs 20-year war in Afghanistan, the US carried out less than 3,000 strikes a year, barring the first year of the invasion, where around 6,500 strikes were carried out â according to data from Airwars analyzed by CNN. âThis isnât normal,â Tripp said of both the scale and size of Israelâs strikes on Lebanon.  While Israelâs air campaign is extremely âunusual,â Tripp said its assault on Gaza over the last year â where nearly 60% of buildings are estimated to have been damaged from Israeli strikes â have normalized such mass assaults. israel is deliberately set on killing as many arabs as it can. other strategic thinking is of second concern
You know the drill.
i do. in fact,
This post is boring.
people will auger about anything on this site
Gotta give 'em credit for committing to the bit.
appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.
my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.
it's always a hit or miss with appalachian charities. a lot are just evangelism with no action behind what they do. i suggest looking into them before donating.

adding some additional photos from the other side of the mountains here in northeast tennessee. there has been genuinely catastrophic flooding in many areas and billions of dollars of damage across NETN and WNC. we are not built to withstand this. 33 people are currently missing in unicoi county alone
to those of you reblogging this, thank you. i have not seen one negative comment about appalachia and i cannot put into words what that means as someone who has lived here for their entire life. we are used to being mocked, scorned, and dismissed, to being the butt of classist jokes, and y'all aren't doing that. thank you. so much.
