“Well, soon you’ll be the least new librarian in all the land, and they’ll all ask you how the bloody hell you know Hermione Granger-Weasley. And then you can act all coy about it, and brush it off as if it was nothing, and they’ll have to to treat you as a complete equal.” Rose laughed. “Your brother’s that crazy? Good on him for having a sister like you, you sound like a brilliant sibling.”

“Excuse you, sleep is one of the best things that exist, and I never said you should stop partying. And it wasn’t an insult, it was an observation that you looked a bit tired. I’m sorry if you took it that way, I was only concerned for your well-being.”

“The entire world, huh? You know of a place that can fit a few billion people? Maybe a charm that creates an infinite amount of space in a building, like the Undetectable Extension Charm? And alcohol has different effects on everyone, so we’d have to watch out for the violent ones. Sounds like it could be a lot of work.” Smoothing out relations sadly wasn’t going to be as easy as everyone having a good time together. “That’s one point that Al has about all of this, too. That it may happen sooner rather than later, being exposed, on such a large scale that we can’t keep it under control. But there are plenty of people who aren’t ready yet to let go and some have valid concerns too. So we have to decide where we stand, and go from there, knowing that no matter where we end up, there will people on the other side standing against us.”

We’re not going to be one of those families that gets so involved in the politics of it all that we forget that we actually like each other. If my parents get to that point, I’ll knock them both out, tie them up, and have them make up before any serious damage is done.”

“Oi! I’m a greedy twenty-three year old, I can’t pay for all of these people around me. I can’t take care of an animal, let alone be responsible for someone’s bills. As for your mum--my mum and my grandmum tried and failed to teach me anything. Apparently I ‘didn’t listen’ and was too busy ‘singing obnoxiously’. Bloody liars, the lot of them.”

I’ve lost too many good books to the war on adolescent boys. Well, if you do it, let me know in advance so I can do something to distract the papers. “I’ll put you in touch with my mum, she has all the best tricks to make sure books are treated properly. She might even find a few good ways to get you some new books, to replace the ones you’ve lost. Education, reading, those are her bloody passions. Besides the whole equality thing.” Rose placed a grateful hand on one of Winnie’s shoulders. “You, my friend, are what they call a god send. I’ll be sure to let you be the first to know, if, and when, the urge calls.”
