Which you can definitely elaborate on, by the way, because I’m pretty sure the deal only extends to penetrative sex so, really, you’d just be pleasing your girl. A lot.”

You can put money on that.”
“Oh good, are you fluttery in the pit of your belly? It does satisfy me so to fluster people. Although I’d rather not put money on it. You aren’t complete shit, I’ll give you that, but will anybody ever take down Puddlemere, much less the Cannons?”

“Magic cannot tame this beast, trust me. It’s as if my hair has magic in it that refuses to yield under a wand. Which is fairly impressive. And maybe smirks don’t work, but I can do sneaky. Sometimes. When I’m not tripping over myself, which has happened many times, unfortunately.” Rose paused for a moment, already ready to defend her favorite team until her dying breath. “The Cannons have a storied history, not dubious reputation. I love the Harpies, but their history isn’t nearly as rich as the Cannons.”
“Well, it does have personality. And makes you look like a pre-Raphaelite painting, which is a worthy goal to achieve, in my opinion. Much more interesting than smirks, at any rate. Anyone can smirk, but not everybody looks like art. Even clumsy art. Also, I’m pretty sure the trophy case matters more than the history? It’s the past, the present matters. Plus, the Harpies stand out. The Cannons just blend into every other team, unless we’re talking about their robes.”

“I can be patient, you’ll come begging back to me soon enough.” Nate shuddered at the mention of Ada and his imminent death. He was well aware of her thoughts on he and Gisèle shagging in her kitchen. “Is anyone safe when it comes to Greengrass? This is probably part of her plan. Lure me into a false sense of security before she attacks, or maybe she’s never going to do anything and I’ll destroy myself wallowing in fear. You never know. Does anyone know how her mind works? She’s terrifying. No wonder she’s your best friend. So I’m the sexiest thing possible? I knew it. There is a reason I was called Adonis and a gift of God. I see someone was never taught the value of sharing, though not going to lie that’s surprisingly hot.”
“Oh, I’m not helping. It’s too amusing to watch you cringe before Midget Greengrass, it would be cheating to be on your side. But you could bribe her into a hint. Because you can either wallow in fear all your life, or you can let your guard drop and wake up with no toenails. It’s amazing. I love it. And I like how the implication is that I’m terrifying? Thanks, Matheson.” Sprawled across his lap as she was, Gisèle reached out easily and flicked the tip of his nose, nose scrunched in distaste. “Nope. I didn’t say that. Mildly sexy, maybe, but the ego sort of compensates, to be honest. What is the point of sharing you when you’re mine, though? That’s like offering to share my bra when it isn’t going to fit anybody else like it fits me. Also, you do know you can just admit I am hot. I already know it, but I’m not saying no to you repeating it. In detail. With favours.”

“Oi! It isn’t our fault we were cursed with this mess. It is a burden we must bear, and bear it we will. Some of us are still fighting the battle, others, like me, have given up completely. As for the hypotheticals–isn’t all of this hypothetical? I’ve got no idea what you’re talking about.” Rose tried out smirking, and quickly realized that being diabolical was not in her blood. “Ugh, the Harpies? I’m going to have to beg my Aunt Gin. Cannons would’ve been an easy sell.”
“Oh, I was aware. All the ones I know, at least, do seem to have given up on the hair situation. It’s all nest all the time. You could use magic to tame it, but I will admit, it requires a certain bravery to let it be as is. As does that smirk, actually – I don’t think either smugness or fiendishness is quite your speed, I’m afraid. And that is because the Cannons are accompanied by a dubious reputation at best, unlike the Harpies.”

“A boring crime, do I seem the sort to commit a boring crime? Maybe I’ll run a few ideas in front of you before I do anything. That way I can feel out what you mean by boring and what I mean by boring, and if the ideas match up then we’ve found my next step.”
“To be fair, not brushing your hair runs in your family. I wouldn’t put anything past you. But that seems fair. As long as we consult in vague hypotheticals so I can claim plausible deniability and cover your crime up like a white-washed canvas. In exchange, of course, you only have to find lifetime season’s tickets for the Harpies.”

Visibly spooked by the voice, Luke jolted, his shoulders squaring upward as he whirled his head around, snapping the bind of the book that he was glancing through. “Gisèle.” Her name was breathed in a sagging relief. His brow furrowed as he blinked, glancing up to the shelf. “Classical literature, seriously? I think that’s a couple step above my reading comprehension. But then it makes sense why most of this was gibberish to me.” He indicated to the book in his hand.
An amused smirk crossed her face, softer than it might have been for anybody else. “Luke. Fancy running into you here.” She held her own book up momentarily, quickly putting the enormous tome down once she had brandished the cover. “Classical literature,” she confirmed. “It’s not all that it’s cracked up to be though, to be fair. Same old stories, just more complex language. You could do it. What are you here for?”
