Heads up: This is going to be long, and it’s just the basic intro into this au. I’m going to post different parts for each member and I’ll put the link here at the top
okay guys, gals, and non-binary pals! ((shout out to Thomas Sanders for creating that phrase = v = ))
prepare to buckle up cause this is going to be a bumpy ride~
let’s start off with you, y/n
you’re moving to a new town. You wanted a change of scenery after breaking off your engagement
it wasn’t on bad terms, you both just wanted different things
you wanted to travel and chase your dreams, they had no interest in travel and wanted to stay in your little hometown
you were on your way to your new home when you got lost along the way
the map says to go straight but there are two roads, one looks like it leads to a highway and the other is a mountain road
you end up in front of this really cool looking spirit world entrance
there’s a large two faced statue in front of the gate
it’s kind of creepy but whatever
you grab your camera from inside your duffel bag and decide to explore because yolo
this is how horror movies start
the entrance takes you through what looks like an abandoned train station
you mean to look for help but you get distracted the beautiful scenery on the other side
you spend the entire afternoon there taking pictures and just relaxing
you declare it ‘y/n’s healing time’ lol you dork
after a bit of wandering you find yourself in front of an enormous bathhouse
you back up a bit and try to take a good picture, but there’s just so much stuff
and it’s hard to get a good angle
also..is that smoke coming from the chimmney..?
and you could have sworn you saw something move on one of the balconies
this place is a ghost town, who would come all the way out here just for a bath?
you don’t realize how much time has gone by when suddenly there’s a man in front of you dressed in old style clothing
and I’m not talking old like bell-bottoms and suede jackets, I’m talking OLD like Scarlet Heart: Ryeo or Hwarang old
he looks very intimidating and he’s got intense eyes
at first you’re like ‘wtf dude thanks for giving me a heart attack’
but then you question why he’s here and ask him about the bathhouse
he ignores your questions and tells you to leave
you: excuse me. rude much
he grabs you by the arm and tries to take you back but by the time you get to the edge of town it’s too late
the sun has set and the river is too large to cross
you start to panic. like what the heck is going on??!?
the man beside you tries to calm you down but you kind of back away from him because 1) he’s a total stranger and 2) you’re scared af
he reaches out to you and you go to slap it away when youR HAND GOES THROUGH HIS AND YOU’RE FADING AWAY??!?!? WHAT?!?!!
you swear you’re going to pass out when the stranger sHOVES SOMETHING INTO YOUR MOUTH
you’re so surprised you accidentally swallow whatever it is and have another freak out because what if you just swallowed poison
the man seems to read your thoughts because he tells you that his name is yongguk and he’s only trying to help you. you need to eat food from this world so that you don’t fade away
he grabs your hand and gently leads you away before the two of you are spotted by anyone
as you’re walking he explains the situation. the gate you entered through was an entrance to the spirit world and because the gate doesn’t open all the time you were going to be stuck here for an unknown amount of time
he manages to sneak you back to the bathhouse without incident. everyone is too intimidated by yongguk to question why he’s with a human
although you did see an interesting creature/spirit/whatever on the bridge
they were dressed in all black and had a mask covering their face ((jongup as no face)), and although you couldn’t see their eyes you felt them following you until you and yongguk disappeared into the back
so yongguk takes you to the back of the building and tells you to go all the way down the rickety and unstable af stairway.
he places his hand on your head and suddenly you’re seeing all these images and you immediately know where to go
he says you need to go to daehyun and youngjae, the Boiler Men, and ask for work
after a terrifying slide down the stairs you manage to find daehyun and youngjae and hot damn why didn’t yongguk tell you they’d be this handsome?
when yongguk said ‘boiler men’ you expected middle aged men, covered in soot, with missing teeth. not guys who look like they could be in fashion magazines
youngjae tells you that they have enough help and they don’t need anyone else. that’s when daehyun turns around and tells youngjae they shouldn’t refuse such a beautiful person
youngjae calls him a flirt and tells you to find yubaba and beg her for work
zelo came in to give daejae their dinner when he spots you!
and he nearly drops the food
but luckily youngjae catches the tray and smacks zelo upside the head
youngjae tells zelo to calm down and take you to see yubaba so you can get a contract
but poor zelo is just so excited to see another human!!!
daehyun grabs his bowl from the tray and starts eating
zelo tells youngjae he doesn’t want to bring you up to see yubaba because she’s scary
youngjae bribes zelo with fresh cherry tomatoes
you swear zelos eyes got bigger when he saw them
“hyung where did you get these?!”
in the end zelo takes you up the elevator and protects you from the other guests/workers by shielding you with his tallness
it works up until you have to transfer elevators because this one doesn’t go to the top floor
one of zelos superiors corners him and demands he get back to work
“zelo where have you been?! You’ve got a customer in Room 3, and Room 8 needs to be cleaned before--”
he gives you a sad look and tells you to take the elevator across the hall all the way to the top floor
you make it all the way to the top and are about to knock on the door when they suddenly burst open
you feel yourself get pulled in by an unknown force and are thrown onto the floor in front of a scary looking old lady
she’s as wrinkled as a raisin and looks like she’s never laughed a day in her life
you immediately bow and ask for a job. she refuses, but you keep insisting, telling her you won’t leave her office until she gives you a job
she starts to get mad and threatens to make you work as a prostitute
that’s when himchan enters the room
he sees you and asks his mother, yubaba, what’s going on. himchan is yubaba’s one and only son. her most precious thing, besides money.
yubaba tells him you’re just a beggar looking for a job. himchan reminds yubaba about her oath to give work to anyone who asks.
“you’re too smart for your own good”
yubaba reluctantly hands you a contract and tells you to sign it. She also gives you a new name, nugu. she tells you to remember that and only respond to nugu
“what’s your name, girl?”
yubaba calls yongguk in and tells him to get you settled in. he escorts you to the elevator and the two of you ride in silence. you thank him for all the help, but he remains silent.
when the other workers see you they all immediately refuse to work with yet another human. it’s bad enough they have to work with zelo
yongguk just stares at the foreman until he gives in ((lol yongguk used ‘Imtimidate’ It’s super effective!))
you reunite with zelo who is strangely silent. it’s only after the two of you reach the maid’s quarters that he lets loose
he starts jumping around excitedly. he’s very happy to have another human around in case you couldn’t tell
he puts his arm around you and tells you”oppa will take care of you”
...and this concludes the end of the intro! Hope you all enjoyed this little bit! I’m going to try to write the next part tomorrow if I have the time TT v TT)/
