In my local one in a mall being its own store has two cameras and tons of blind spots. Also it was my first time going to an ulta and I like it so much more than sephora. It’s huge and a lot of blind spots in the hair care section.

My Idea #1 for Averting Suspicion While Searching for Tags

If someone ever comes up to you and tries to CS you while you’re searching a product to see if/where/how its tagged, just tell them you were checking to see if it was cruelty free/vegan/hypoallergenic/exipration date.

The word vegan also applies to purses, bags, wallets, and shoes- if they’re made from leather they’ll have a little ‘pelt’ sign on them (looks like an outline of a sheepskin rug).

Cruelty-Free products- whether lotion, cosmetics, or perfume- should have the PETA leaping bunny on them. Make-up also expires and has an expiration date. If your face is really beat and you look old enough you can say that you were planning on buying a new palette but wanted to check the expiration date before using it on clients. If your face isn’t as beat you can say that you wanted to buy a palette but since you don’t wear make-up much you wanted to see how long it would last before it expired.

This is a really good excuse when unboxing Naked palettes to make sure they don’t have tags on the inside because all the information including ingredient lists are in the inside, under the box.

For palettes, it isn’t sus if you tell the SA you’re checking to see if any of the shadows/pans are broken. You can say you bought one that was broken once and had to return it and how it was such a pain that now you just check every time

Bc it’s inside the clothes! hang them inside in a blind spot and button it up, and then detag in the fitting room! or just do what I prefer, which is conceal in ur bag in a blind spot and detag in the fitting rooms - that way u don’t run the risk of the attendant taking the item from u and realising u put stuff inside!

the only way i can do this is by faking a call. take out your phone, look at it, pretend to call someone back. i let it "ring" for a few seconds and then i say "hey sorry my phone was on silent what's up?" or something similar. make sure to make pauses in convo so it doesn't sound fake (you'd be surprised how many people forget? lmao) i find it easiest if i say something and then reply in my head with what i would say in that conversation so i can make sure i pause long enough/not too long. just seem kinda annoyed like "yeah i'm at ____ but i guess i can come. i'm like 15 minutes away though." *pause* "no it's fine. i'm leaving now" and just put your basket down and walk away, still pretending to be on the phone. i do it the entire walk back to my car. nobody has ever glanced twice!!

💸 The “I don’t even own a hook / magnet”-haul 💸

This was my first time l/ft/ing shoes!! I was about to go in a fitting room at H/&\M and they were just chillin’ there like “sup bitch” AND THEY JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN MY SIZE, so I stuffed them in my purse along with my other shit and then got the fuck out of that store :^)

In my country, H/&\M shoes always have these kinds of little red ‘alarm’ stickers on the price tag so I was kind of hesitant about taking the shoes, but I did since I couldn’t find an RFID in the tags or anywhere else, and guess what? The towers didn’t go off. So don’t be scared of the alarm stickers, they’re fake.

I also got a pair of those wide leg pants, those ones that are really trendy at the moment. They’re not pictured cos I wore them basically all week :^))))

why do people lift from risky places

target, khol’s, jcpenney. they’re notorious for their amazingly good LP and we know that. there’s videos, countless “caught” posts, whatever. and they don’t sell anything that you can’t get anywhere else (i.e. clothes, jewelry, makeup!)

the most difficult place i hit up is my sephora but i don’t even think mine has LP, i think i’m just a real chicken because i have read too many sephora horror stories. i scoped this store like 3 times just to make sure i had everything down to a t and i still don’t go there more than once every two months.

most if not all of the places i regularly lift at have little to no LP presence. i can get cute clothes anywhere - ross, rue21, francesca’s, vs. makeup - walmart, ulta, cvs.

perhaps it’s different if they’re the only places accessible to you? i am not sure.

we are smarter than this. and getting caught doesn’t have to be an “eventually”.

Every day I handle more money than I will ever make. Every day.

At the start of my employment, my boss showed me videos of people stealing, and we both had a chuckle about it. How silly they were! There was a camera overhead, and it’s not to watch the shoppers. See, we can’t actually stop shoplifters. They get away with it maybe nine out of ten times. But we, who are watched and tallied and witnessed? We are always caught.

At first it was hard to hold one hundred dollars bills. An amount I had never seen before. An amount that didn’t exist in my household. It’s normal now. Here is something that is not for me.

“What the hell, I’ll take another,” says the man, pondering our 200 dollar watches. What the hell. Total comes to 580 and not even a flinch in his face. I have been working for 11 hours today and made only 110 dollars. It will go to my rent. Today I work for free, it feels. When I get my check, I will have 35 dollars left for food and saving.

The six hundreds he hands me go into the cash register. For a moment, I imagine having money. Then I put it away, counting out his change.

I know for a fact we sell our products for double what they are worth. That I could be making commission. That they could hand me those 580 dollars and change my life and not even mark the difference in their checkbooks. He’s not the only sale they make today, but I am the reason they made it. He’s not the only one spending 600 dollars, but if I hadn’t spent two hours with him telling me about his life, he wouldn’t have spent any. I go home. I don’t own a watch.

I have watched and rewatched a video on how to make salmon four ways. My shopping list is always the same. Pasta. Rice. Tuna. If I can afford butter it was a good week. I dream of the world I will never walk in, where I can throw the best fish fillet in the cart with a shrug. I hold hundreds in my hand and look up at the camera. I put them under the cash drawer.

I go to work. I scrap together my savings. I eat my bowl of rice slowly. My manager takes a paid week off from work just for his birthday. He owns a yacht. 

I’m not worth the cost of a watch.
