look warning ahead (if we're mutuals or you see this and you're a sydcarm supporter no hate we can stay friends)
I personally think that SydCarm just doesn't really make sense to me. Sure, it's cute, and the *actors* have great chemistry with everything. But considering what the cast and the show producers are saying, it really just doesn't make sense with the plot and their character arcs. Sydney is that struggling artist archetype with a loving father and family behind her to support her. Carmy is that hotshot who threw everything away for his shitty family but also feels like a shit person at the same time. They're friends, and they've grown as people accepting that. But if the show ends on they end up dating? It's unhealthy for both parties. Sydney achieves her dream, through a man btw. Carmy's already pretty established and ends up with a girlfriend? That's a bit... shallow. Obviously, I'm not defending Carmy and Claire. But Claire is just another example of how Carmy's still weighed down by his past and feels a need to be needed by the people around him. And the whole thing with Marcus and Sydney is a reflection of how they built a stronger friendship through an awkward phase of Marcus's failed confession. Relationships should push characters further, lead them to grow as people, but without Carmy and Sydney getting extensive therapy? This isn't possible by just pushing these two together. Maybe they can be each other's eye in the storm. Maybe. But in the end, they're both chefs. In the culinary world. And I think Carmy's starting to realize it's okay to hate his passion. Sydney's just getting started. They're on different points of the same journey and tying them together as a couple would bring that bridge down in flames. The best ending for this show would be to wrap up in a bittersweet scene with the characters at a healing point and to leave up that interpretation to the viewers. If neither Sydney nor Carmy gets a love interest? That's okay, because this show is a lot more than just making the characters perfect people. It thrives on the characters being unlikable and relatable, messy and imperfect. The high-anxiety tone of the show is what makes The Bear so brain-itching, and softening all of that build-up for a happily ever climax would be slop. Carm and Syd? Great friends and co-workers, but they can mean just as much to each other without necessarily being in a romantic relationship that's going to spiral into unhealthy areas of depressing. Thanks, this was a bit redundant.
I appreciate your perspective and what you have to say but I’m not really understanding your point. The show is about family and family trauma, it hasn’t been about them just being chefs since season 2. Carmy gave the resturuant to Sydney already, so she would not “achieve her dreams through a man” and Carmy is no longer a chef so them being together would have nothing to do with the resturuant.
It is true they are on different points of the same journey but that’s professionally, not personally. It’s just a little ridiculous to say that them being together would ruin the ending and make it into slop. Why? Because they allowed themselves to be truly close to someone without being about work or their family trauma? I don’t want to sound rude, but this is a bit of a reductive take on the whole show, just ignoring a lot of important details like what their relationship is actually like as of now. People can be messy characters without ending up alone and without anyone for the sake of “art.”
I get your point, maybe I came off a bit rough. Slop was a stronger word. And your whole thing is completely valid, I just don't think that the show could execute a relationship with this ending properly. But if they do end up like that, that's that and this was my take on it. Thanks

I'm like four episodes in and this is genuinely one of the best things that happened to me
Remember that time mike wore harveys clothes. Like without permission. He just did that. And harvey was fine with it. Remember.
she’s talking to harvey but could really go either way
saw @/snailgoodra do this with dr house and i thought… marvey
the thing about suits is that the cases are pretty meh but the character writing is insane. the newbie who trusted someone so much it ruined his life and the mentor with infidelity trauma who barely trusts anyone but himself and the loyalty kink on both sides as a result? the overblown egos as a masquerade to hide those trust issues?? each side thinking the other doesn't trust them enough, isn't loyal enough??? i'm chewing glass
Watching suits for the first time and Mike and Harvey are gay as fuck

Steve’s wife leaves him for the science teacher at the school where they all teach together and it’s him and his daughter for years. He’s happy to focus on raising her and every so often tries to go on a date but meh and when his daughter’s 15 she starts going on and on about this band she really wants to see and they’re touring close by just a week before her birthday and it would be the best birthday present ever and Steve finds out it’s Corroded Coffin and just goes:
“Oh, Eddie Munson’s band? You know I made out with him almost every day one summer when I was 17.”
