I can't believe its been that long since I finished this story. In honor of this, I tried to think some questions people might have and answer them here
1. Why Reprise?
My first story on wattpad was a musical!lams fic called "The Story of Tonight". It was musical lams, 7 chapters where I wrote a lams pov for some songs in the Hamilton musical. It was badly written (I was 13) and as I gradually moved from musical to historical, I wanted to rewrite it, but keeping as true to their history as I could.
That's why it's called Reprise, its a reference to the story of tonight (reprise) and it is both me giving a second chance to that story and lams if they were able to tell their story. It was not always called that tho, which brings me to question number 2
2. Why Icarus Summer?
Icarus Summer was Reprise first title. It was originally much shorter, with John André's capture planned for chapter 16. If any of you remember the poem Eliza read in chapter 28, the one Alex wrote about John, that was actually one of the first things I wrote and it was much more important to the story. It was how either Alex would confess to John or John would find it and realize his feelings, somewhere during Monmouth.
As things changed and the Icarus/Apollo metaphor dimmed, it became a small reference and I had to change the title, which is when Reprise became Reprise. I still liked it enough to make it my username.
3. What's you favorite character?
Adam Davenport 💚 🐍 Can you blame me?
4. Favorite scene?
I've been on record saying that the scene in chapter 20, with the fireflies, is the most cinematographic. I do really love it. Also any scenes with the Baron and his twink harem is fun.
5. Favorite chapter?
There is a rotating of favorites, but if I had to chose it would likely be 29 (the Andre capture). This chapter was being written before john and alex had their first kiss. I was so excited to get to it. Andre is my favorite redcoat.
6. Did you cut anything?
Of course, otherwise this would be like double the words haha. I will say, I'm generally bad about killing my darlings (which is probably why the story went from 20 something to 33 chapters in the end). Top of my head, I really wanted a scene with Adam's family, but I realized it was probably too much focus on a secondary character that its not real. There was also a whole thing with Washington where he would send 10 men to be hanged after a rebellion to then last minute forgive all but one. I had saw that story on the history amrev documentary, but could not find mention of it in any other place and eventually I just cut it.
7. What inspired you?
I did not know SoA when I started writing Reprise, but found out and read it during it and it definely affected my versions of John and Alex. I also get a lot of inspirations from greek mythology, especially when writing historical fiction (it just fits so well!!). Besides that, music is everything to me. If I don't have a playlist about a story, I'm not taking it seriously.
8. How do you research?
For reprise, I read both Massey and Chernow biography. For the aides, I read some parts of Washington's indispensable men. Besides that a lot of it was searching stuff available on the internet and on foundersarchive. Both Cicero-profacto and John-Laurens tumbrl was what got me into amrev and historical lams in the first place. Lastly, the American Revolution Podcast by Michael Troy (and the companion blog) really helped with battles (one of the things I found the hardest) and timeline.
9. The sun and the moon.
I swear this is important to no one else but me, but the scene/pov divisors in reprise were a headache for a while. In wattpad, I had this fancy one, sun for Laurens and Fire for Hamilton (a remaint of the Icarus Summer draft), but when moving to Ao3 I couldn't figure out images and none of the fire emoticons online were particurlaly entincing. That was when I pivoted to the sun and moon imagery. John was already the sun by virtue of the Apollo thing, and Hamilton ended up with "the other one" but I maintain that it fit his character on the story and although not my first choice, Im happy about how it turned out.

If I had a message to younger me, it would be to translate my work sooner! I never had this amount of interaction with something I wrote, mainly because musical fandom and even more amrev fandom is so niche in Brazil and its so nice to find my people.

everyone that knows me knows that Radio Silence is my favorite book, since i first read it i can't stop talking about it, Aled and Frances had me in such good and bad times and i know every time I read the storie it would bring me comfort.
All of this makes mes grateful for the opportunities that i have here in the US.

three days left of the north america tour... my stomach is hanging on to a cliff's edge due to eating out for every meal for the last week, and i am almost out of clean clothes
Just wanna say i had the time of my liiiifeeeee watching the Movie! its so perfect you can see all the production and the cast gave everything they had to make a amazing finale.
i can’t count on how many times did i cried but i loved all the parallels, the little moments of the nick and charlie novella, THE CREDITS WAS SO CUTE THO!!! 😭😭😭😭
