unsaid emily is such a uniquely heartbreaking ballad in concept and it kills me that it's just faded to obscurity. they wrote a song about all the things a dead boy didn't get to say to his mother before he died. the last time he spoke to her was an argument. he has the voice of an angel. and it's all framed by a girl bringing the lyrics from his songbook to his mother 25 years after he died, to give her closure. what the fuck.

honestly its funny when really long standing fandom is starved of new content, because people start dissecting the source material in really specific ways. not in analytic way, because that was done long ago, but like in "desperately using microscope to try find very last scraps of meat" kind of way.

Ok but Julie jumped right into songwriting with Luke, after she started playing again, when the only person we know she'd written with before was her mom, which is an incredible amount of intimacy to grant somebody you just met

Also. She whipped out "Stand Tall" super fast, since she brings it up right after that first songwriting weekend, so like... How long was that one weighing on her mind? Did she keep glancing at it, during her no-music period, feeling guilty that she couldn't finish that for her mom? Did she feel like it was wrong to finish the song alone? Has anybody else thought about the fact that this is a song about being strong when you're alone but Julie couldn't finish it without support and love??? Because even when you're alone you carry the support of your loved ones with you?!?

I am invested in Carlos's grief and nobody talks about it because he's like ten and that's sad but. Carlos. Buddy

Basically what I'm saying is he supports Julie's ghost band because he is still struggling with the loss of his mom and he can cope vicariously through her, and also maybe he likes ghosts so much because he lost his mom

When Reggie says “check out what I learned today” and then summons his bass, that implies that the boys spent at least a bit of time (probably a lot of time if we’re honest) trying to figure out how Luke managed to summon his guitar and do it themselves, and I’m not saying that scene would be actual comedic gold but that scene would be actual comedic gold.

thinking about this scene and what caleb’s little “hmm” means for willie…

look at his face—caleb Knows. he didn’t tell them anything about the stamp, he acted as if it was practically harmless. how else would the boys have figured out that the jolts were caused by his mark?

unless willie directly disobeyed his orders and told them.

you can see him realizing this in the shot, thinking about all the times he told willie to stay away and now knowing that he didn’t.

in the time between nothing to lose and the last scene caleb did something to willie, hurt him in some way, and if he hasn’t yet he’s definitely going to. and that scares me more than i’d like to admit.

Small things I Love about Julie Molina’s Design

She wears her hair natural. She didn’t even straighten it for the Orpheum performance, which so often happens with curly-haired characters during big events. I love the different hairstyles she has in the show that really suit her hair type.

She wears crop tops and the show never sexualizes her for it. She’s allowed to wear clothes that look good on her and compliment her figure without objectifying her - I don’t see that as often as I’d like in media.

She always wears the same jewelry each day, which is typical for teenagers. I wasn’t a bracelets girl like Julie, but I wore several necklaces at once, too.

Her monster slippers. Really, need I say more? Those slippers are epic.

Every pair of her sneakers. She’s never shown wearing high heels. Every day, every performance: sneakers. Playing the Orpheum? Glittery dress, check. Glittery makeup, check. Bedazzled jacket, check. Ribbons in her hair, check. Sneakers, CHECK.
