This is blatantly untrue

Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.

Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)

Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,

DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.

Proposal to NSFW Tumblr friends!

A while back I started a project I termed “Project Pickle” as a life raft for NSFW bloggers if Tumblr ever decided to nuke NSFW content. Well, the time has come.

Attached are development previews from the work in progress site. Pickle would be a community for content creators to share their posts without restrictions on explicit content, enforcing an 18+ requirement. I may even be able to implement a system where you can upload your Tumblr backup and continue as if nothing ever happened.

If you guys think this is a project worth perusing, REBLOG THIS POST! It might give me the motivation I need to finish it up.

So just to answer a few questions:

The website was in early development (maybe 20% complete)

The website would fully support iOS and Android

Creators and followers are both welcome to join

I would aim to launch with the option to upload your Tumblr blog backups, and have them mirror your content on the new site

I would expect an early version online by late January 2019

If I go ahead I’ll be setting up a Github page for fellow developers to contribute
