This photo of J.W. Milam and Roy Bryant, smirking after their 1955 acquittal for murdering Emmett Till, a 14-year-old African American boy, is a chilling snapshot of racial injustice in America's past. Their trial, in a segregated Mississippi courtroom, ended in a shockingly swift not-guilty verdict, despite clear evidence. This case didn't just horrify a nation; it energized the burgeoning Civil Rights Movement, turning Till's tragedy into a rallying cry against deep-rooted racism and a legal system that often failed to protect African Americans.
looking for closure is basically making an excuse to hold on to that person. the disrespect is the closure. the closure you should seek is the one with yourself, and saying good bye to the version of you that allowed the disrespect to happen so that you do not put yourself in the same position again.
Look for respect rather than admiration. Yes, we all like to be admired, but by the right people and the right reason. Looking to seek admiration specifically from others as a means to feel fulfilled or validated is an indication that something is lacking within you.
