i spent too many years yearning for a romantic partner but when it happened i was like...oh this is not it.

i do joke a lot about dating idols but it's just that, a joke. in reality i would never date any of them even if they begged me on their knees (would never happen anyway lol).
maybe it's me being aro but i never understood liking people you don't know. every time i "caught feelings" they were at the very most an acquaintance. i genuinely don't know if people are exaggerating or if they actually like...have romantic feelings for celebs and stuff. not in a judgemental way, i just truly can't wrap my head around it ?! i get feeling sexually attracted to a celebrity...but developing feelings, wanting to date them, being possessive over them, etc ?? i just don't get it.

i wish i realized sooner that all of my "crushes" were just me romanticizing girls and falling for the version of them i created in my head. whenever i look back on past crushes and relationships after the intense feelings have worn off i feel confused as to why i would ever consider dating such a person. most of those feelings were actually obsession and i still struggle in deciding if there was even a hint of genuine romantic attraction or if i just convinced myself into thinking that i had feelings when i just wanted to feel loved and prioritized for once.

IS IT JUST ME OR: i feel like there should be a big conversation about the wave of femme lesbians turning to childhood tv shows like jem & the holograms, strawberry shortcake, bratz, barbie, sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura, monster high, etc. not only for the nostalgia but also as a medium of self-exploration and finding new ways to express femininity after unlearning all the comphet + internalized lesbophobia and realizing that they had based their ideas on femininity on what is attractive to men. like.. i love that for us

i love being a woman but sometimes i feel othered or excluded from womanhood because i can't relate to straight women or women who like men. whenever women talk about relationship advice or attracting someone it's always assumed that the crush/partner is male. a lot of "women talk" is so male-centered and i feel like i don't belong because i can't relate...
being aspec adds another layer to this feeling of isolation because most of the time idgaf about relationships yet it seems that romantic love is prioritized over anything and everything.
