Lucan hummed in acknowledgment, collecting the necessary pieces for green tea. While waiting for the tea to brew, Lucan heard Kinshu’s comment and he turned to regard her.
“Master? Oh, nah, lass, ye don’ need ta call me tha’.” Lucan waved it off and looked thoughtfully at the pale, pastel woman. She was an odd one, but perhaps it was a cultural thing? “Ah do need t’ask tho. Where’re y’from miss Kinshu? Ah’ve not seen ya ‘round these parts b’fore.” She was certainly a unique enough character to be worth remembering.
Kinshu nodded her head, blushing lightly. She forgot some humans did not observe the same caste system that yokai did. At his question, she was happy to answer.
“Japan,” she said simply. That was often time the easiest answer she could give. The real answer was the subdimension only she could access until she was needed. Like a place ‘in-between the lines’. But Japan was her place of origin, so that answer seemed to suffice.
“I c-came to visit. Your world here is fascinating.”
“M’world?” Lucan asked, puzzled. Did she mean ‘world’ as in the world of mechanics? A peculiar way of saying it, but no matter. His attention was pulled to the faint and growing whistle of the now-hot teapot and Lucan moved to shut off the heat source and remove the kettle. With careful coordination, Lucan poured the water into two mugs and dipped in the strainers for the tea.
“Ah like mah own tea pretteh strong. You, lass?” He asked, placing the hot kettle on a heat-proof trivet and taking up both mugs. Lucan made sure to set hers down first before his own and took a seat across from Kinshu. He blew on his tea a moment and swirled the strainer to distribute more of the substance into the coloring water.
“Now…earlier y’mentioned m’world was fascinatin’.” He gave her a studying look, something in him confirming she was something not quite natural here. Arthur had explained folks like that existed around here. Something special about Tempo, texas maybe? “Yer one o’ them spirits from another plane aren’tcha?” Less a question…more a statement.
“O-oh, I like it strong as well, thank you,” she said, taking the cup and stirring. She blew on it to cool it down. She took a sip right as he spoke and almost inhailed her tea through her nose.
She coughed, looking up at him with wide eyes. “Y-You know about...things not of this world?” She said, stunned. It was not common for humans to know of such things, which was why she was in her disguise. She brightened, happy she did not need to check herself.
“I’m n-not a spirit Sir, I am a summoners demon.”
