It’s “insane” how many female artists are still and might forever be unknown, casually having served as (unwilling, unknowing) muses aka being copied without any reference by our most famous male artists. Only recently there was an important article by a learned woman stating there simply had never been good female artists - because of how society worked, education and sponsorship only in male circles, no training, no money for expensive materials etc., very plausible and seemingly not mysogonist. I read a literary novella about how it had to have been a crippled man starting cave paintings while the other men hunted, the male author never came near the obvious solution to his question ie. that if this how humans started art, it then was more likely to have been a woman. It’s unfortunate this post is collapsed in a way that hides it’s weight.
This moment has always striken me as:

The sitemaker (Josh Mayfield at https://bsky.app/profile/bean525.bsky.social) has asked for people to come in and kick its tires so he can work out any bugs they turn up. So do give him a hand, if you feel inclined. :)
