I love their friendship! So I was very sad when I knew her tragedy...
I really like the fact that rat characters like Professor Ratigan and Cluny the scourge have jagged teeth, despite the fact that the actual rats have no such thing.
This kind of teeth alignment is sometimes called "ギザ歯(Gizaba)" in Japan.
1950’s Redwall!

Cornflower! Abbot Mortimer! MARIEL!
“It was long ago written that you and I would meet, rat.”
[Redwall]
I haven't been able to come to tumblr lately because I've been working like a mole in Redwall.
I really want to drink a lot and eat a lot of good food like moles in Redwall…
I actually like the fact that Cluny knows toffee apples.
I did a little research on toffee apples in the West and found out that they are often eaten in autumn.
In my country, Japan, toffee apples are often sold at festive fair and summer festivals, so when I hear the word toffee apple, I think of summer. It's very interesting to learn about these differences!
Let me tell you a little about the difference between the original language version of Redwall and the Japanese version.
In the Japanese version of Redwall series, there are two main types of characters: those whose names are written in katakana (e.g. Matthias for "マサイアス", Cornflower for "コーンフラワー") and those whose names are written in "<kanji, hiragana and katakaka>". (e.g. Redtooth for "<赤牙>", Darkclaw for "<黒爪>", Cheesethief for "<チーズ泥棒>")
Chickenhound is "<にわとり狩り>" in Redwall's book, but in Mattimeo he's changed to "スレイガー"!
I’ll get the last of my Starboard character sheets done soon-ish. Lately, however, I’ve been focusing on a different project: the Mouseflower art book.
The art book is all about anthro, medieval characters like those from the Mouse Guard and Redwall series, so it’s right up my ally! I’ve already applied to be one of the contributing artists for the kickstarter, but applicants won’t hear back with a reply until January 13. You can learn more about it here if you’re also interested in contributing https://www.deviantart.com/spainfischer/art/The-Art-of-Mouseflower-Zine-Artists-Wanted-824231411
I had a lot of trouble deciding what to draw for Mouseflower, but I think I’ve gotten my ideas at a good place now, not that these sketches are anything amazing. A lot of these are studies from photographs and the artwork of other artists with one or two odd doodles mixed in too. I wanted to use a realistic/serious art style at first, but I wasn’t liking how it was looking and changed to a more toony style that’s more in-line with my usual art style these days. That and I don’t have enough free time to create anything super detailed.
The characters I decided to focus on are those created by my brother and a couple of friends for a custom Redwall tabletop RPG system I devised (not that we’ve had many opportunities to play it). If you’re familiar with the Redwall books, my brother is a rogue Marlfox, one friend is a sailor otter with psychic powers, and my other friend is an archer squirrel from Redwall Abbey itself.

In fact, in my country, Japan, only four volumes of the Redwall series have been translated.(why???)
Of course, I know what needs to be done... (while pulling out dictionaries and reference English books, and cheking my wallet)
Edit: the title for this comic is “Puzzle Rat” this one’s a few days late due to having a lot of doctors appointments sorry it’s just 9 pages, and about some rats… it’s more symbolic than anything really

After Shadow
like the fact that Shadow's tools are put to good use by Matthias after the death of their owner.
From what I remember (and I'll reread it later as I'm likely to be wrong), Shadow wasn't in Cluny's nightmare (maybe the original language version is the same), so maybe his grudge was in his tools. No, wait. Maybe he exists as Matthias' "shadow".
For a moment, I thought of Shadow going to call Martin to help Matthias (and he look apologetic when he saw what had happened Matthias afterwards), and Shadow putting his index finger to his lips and saying, "It's a secret from everyone, little guy." as baby Rollo found him.
