Shoplifting is a victimless crime. Like punching someone in the dark.
Remy Lebeau
With his breathing regular and the pain down to a tolerable level, heâs able to shakily smile again, blushing from embarrassment. He holds still so that Remy can finish wrapping his arm without difficulty.
â Well⊠I thought I could handle something like picking mushrooms on my own, but apparently notâŠÂ â He chuckles drly; picking mushrooms usually doesnât include massive monsters, but anything can happen, apparently.
The comment pulls at his heart, just for a moment, before he quietly pushes it away. Looking up at Remy, he eventually grins and nods.
Remy can tell heâs hit a nerve and he sighs running a hand through his hair. âSorry, Mon Ami. I didnât mean ta strike a cord like that..â He can understand why. He too left so many people behind in his home universe.Â
âBut, yâ should âave taken some kind of back up with yâ knowing da type of trouble this kind of mission can get you into.âÂ
Yep. Heâd appeared in front of someone. Zaveid had hoped there wouldnât be anyone in the way but, alas, things didnât work out that way. The manâs voice got his attention and he glanced over his shoulder. Zaveid turned, facing him with a neutral expression. Certainly this was one of those âdonât aggravate the situation furtherâ deals, if he was reading it right.
Alright, so maybe he was a little inconsiderate. But heâd meant to land on the roof so he could try and find someone from his world!Â
âGeez. Iâm sorry, alright? I said I fell short of where I was headed. I donât Wind Rush often,â Zaveid said, casually shrugging. âI like walking, but the crowd was waaaaay too thick.â
Remy huffed putting the glassed back on before he decided to chuck them and cause them to explode near the man in front of him. Kurt was always so much better than that at teleportation.Â
âWell maybe if yâ attending armature hour Mon Ami donât teleport into a crowd! Yâ gonna end up hurting someone that way!âÂ
Send me đȘ to stab my muse.
So, he wasnât gonna start a fight either? Fine by him. While he could certainly spend a few more hours following this guy and glaring at him continuously, that would be boring and unnecessary. So, with one last glare, he brought his hands to his face and removed his mask.
âŠHe was totally still glaring, but he wouldnât fight.Â
Remy smiled a little though he hardly was about to drop his only weapon, not like the other across from him knew the cards could easily be turned into them. âThatâs a bit better... neat trick yâ âave there though. Not a lot of people can pull off a trick like that.âÂ
He bites his lip and hangs his head, tensing in preparation. Anxiety spikes in his chest for multiple reasons and he has to exhale softly, nodding slightly at what Remy says. He just⊠always feels worse when he has to drag others in to his problems. However, that doesnât mean that he isnât grateful. So, so grateful.
He opens his mouth to voice this, but rather than the words he wanted, he releases a short yell; cut off by the click of his mouth snapping shut. The hand of his uninjured arm clenches in to a fist and his eyes squeeze shut. He just nods again, saving the words for laterâ Heâs too busy keeping whimpers from leaving his mouth.
Heâs had his fair share of injuries in the past, but heâs not used to it by any means. Once the initial pain passes, however, he opens his eyes again, managing to croak out what he wanted to before.
   â âŠTh-Thank you. â
Remy nods quietly and gives a slight smile, âYâr welcome, Mon Ami.â He starts wrapping the arm tight to keep it from moving around too much. âDa worst of it is over at least.â He said reassuring the other.Â
Though the next sentence comes out in a bit of a huff, âNext time ask for someone to help yâ before running on and takinâ on these missions. From what I understand they really are meant for a group.âÂ
A slight smirk came over his face, âItâs not like yâ âave a lack of powerful friends.âÂ
đïœïœïœïœ ïœïœ ïœïœïœ đïœïœïœ ïœ ïœïœïœïœïœ
                       Damn, heâs good.
The albino sighed, calming himself down a bit. âOne step ahead of the game, huh? Heh. Thatâs something I rarely seen. Though trying to look out for my safety, well, never had that feeling before unless itâs with others that are like me.â
He lowered his head. âThe adults, they didnât understand, so busy with abandoning others in the streets, fearing for their own lives believing that they brought monsters into the world. A harsh, unforgiving world.â
He was sick of that feeling. He loathed it with all his heart, but the other did serve a point on the whole identity thing, the youth never took off his goggles for awhile.
âIf I show you who I am, keep it between us.â he warned before he lifted his head and his arms to carefully push up his goggles to unveil his purple hued eyes from underneath.
âI donât usually come out of the corner to show my identity to strangers. Itâs a huge risk but..I could make this an exception. After all, first times are a bit rough for me to lay out my trust to someone I donât know of.â
Remy nodded he understood the feeling. In his youth he got it more than he did now. The eyes were something most mutants didnât have to deal with, some powers more hideable than others. âAh, Mon Ami. Donât know what yâr world was like but people are different âere from what I can tell. Most people donât care what yâ âave goinâ on.âÂ
A chuckle escapes from his lips as he flourishes the deck in his hands expertly, âEither they think that yâre just part of this crazy new experience or their world was a lot kinder to people with powers.âÂ
He shrugged, âIn my experience the whole keeping the identity thinâ isnât really the issue of trust. Came from a world of heroes, understand, but yâ donât give off the same kind of air they did.âÂ
âEither way not much to judge yâ on besides beinâ out âere alone. Would âate for somethinâ to âappen to yâ.âÂ
đïœïœïœïœ ïœïœ ïœïœïœ đïœïœïœ ïœ ïœïœïœïœïœ
                                                 âŠFigures.
The youth closed his eyes as he replied,âIâm fine. Itâs not like anyone else cares and if someone tries to harm me, I can defend myself. After all, I donât do anything unless Iâm provoked and if anything, I usually avoid fighting because I really donât want to bother.â
Knowing how powerful he is with his prowess, he is the strongest of his own among others within the group, the alpha. However, the sound of shuffling cards from the otherâs hands, it made him wonder.
He reopened his eyes and looked over towards him. There was something about him that he canât exactly figure out because..static. Mental Static. Somethingâs blocked Saryuu and he canât go peeping around there.
Agh, what an annoyance, guess itâs back to square one.
âOkay then, answer this. First, what brings you around here anyways and second, what is an adult telling me around otherwise? I donât take lightly to orders from other people especially those who have no jurisdiction to do so in the first place.â he answered with a stern tone.
Remy laughed and shrugged his shoulders, âWell, yâ know kids running around at night in a place like this is isnât the most common thing, Mon Ami. Would âate for yâ to get into some kind of trouble with the more unsavory groups around âere.âÂ
âI do âave authority. Practically run this part of town Mon Ami. Me men wonât come after yâ but me men arenât the only people running around âere looking for trouble. Canât say for da morality of da other gangs running around âere.âÂ
He knew this kid he had seen it more than once or twice in his life time. He was sure that this kid was like all the other brave ones who think that they can take care of themselves and live out on their own. Oh, how many he knew where wrong. This wasnât Remy just trying to be an adult bossing kids around here, he really was more concerned about the kids safety over all.Â
âWould think yâ might be in even more danger with da whole âidinâ who yâ are thinâ and da âole power thinâ.â Remy knew, someone prying into his head always gave him a very specific head ache. One of the few where his powers blocked out things like mind reading.Â
âAnd before yâ go runninâ off yeah I know and itâs because I âave powers too. Donât get eyes like these for nothinâ.âÂ
đïœïœïœïœ ïœïœ ïœïœïœ đïœïœïœ ïœ ïœïœïœïœïœ
đven to the most unexpected of individuals, some would see a reflection of themselves in another.
Nighttime was something that was full of mystery despite itâs calm nature. As people around town would celebrate special occasions, others roam the streets, usually with a partner. However, in one alleyway leaning against the wall and nearby a streetlight, was an individual.
One that has kept his identity a secret since his arrival, being the adolescent, Saryuu himself.
To be fair, he had good reasoning to keep himself a secret. After all, itâs not like anyone else would mind his existence. Yeah, sure, he wasnât like the others but the point stands that since his young age, Humans had left a bad impression on him.
In fact, he despises them..but why? Mostly to the fact that he was wronged, denied even. He was abandoned to the streets, therby forcing him to survive on his own without anyone giving him moral direction.
However overtime, bitterness overcame him and this âmonsterâ didnât want moral direction, he had his own way. Just as the woman said, memories are jarring to the soul, especially when it reminds him of those emotional scars that is deep within his own psyche after those years.
Scars that would never go away.
Before long, Saryuu sighed as he closed his eyes for a bit before he mumbled some words under his breath before he crossed his arms, just waiting it out for a bit. Eventually, he reopened his eyes and looked up to the skies filled with stars in the heavens above. The brilliant thing about the nighttime that atleast he could take the time to enjoy the peaceful night.
âAtleast thereâs something to look forward to.â he mumbled to himself.
However, it wasnât long before he froze in place and lowered his head to look around the area, believe it or not, he could sense something coming in closeby..
Heâs on alert.
@chessmove-cardtrick
Remy had been keeping an eye on the young kid for sometime now. One that seemed to be hiding his identity, though unlike others that roamed at night like that he was not some masked hero.Â
This drew attention to Remy because of how young the other was. He really didnât care much for the idea of kids being in the streets, especially these type of streets. The ones where danger was prevalent. Seeing that this seemed to be intestinal and not some accidental mistake, Remy chose the option of approach.Â
Now why he doesnât look the most friendly of people at the best of times, not helped by his striking red eyes which were on full display tonight he tried to make himself at least seem friendlier. He relaxed his shoulders and pulled out a deck of cards shuffling them just to seem more casual than anything else.
He walked up and stopped a good few yards away from the younger man, âYâ know Mon Ami! Itâs not safe for people as young as yâ out âere!âÂ
Things are new to him, newer than what he was used to. The world heâd come from had been so⊠medieval that heâd gone through a state of culture shock for a few moments before he adjusted. Something like this wouldnât hold him back. No, he has to find someone, anyone from his world to get answers from. Answers he knew theyâd have. The seraph wanders the streets, used to being invisible to the ordinary personâs eye⊠but here. Here people can see him. It makes grabbing a bite to eat without anyone noticing harder than before.
Not that seraphim need to eat.
Itâs a curious thing to the seraph, this world. Zaveidâs eyes travel over the people, and he uses his Wind Rush ability to clear the crowd, appearing in front of them without a care in the world. A grin forms, and he exaggerates his exhaustion.
âPhew! Havenât moved like that in a while! Gotta admit, I fell short of where I was headed. Guess I need to put in a bit more practice.â
ă @chessmove-cardtrick ă
Remy who was near the front of the crowd stumbled back a little before catching himself when there was suddenly someone in his walking path. The surprise nearly lost him the deck of cards in his hand and lost him his sunglasses. He was no stranger to teleporters but Kurt had never been that inconsiderate with his powers.Â
âOi Connard! âOw about instead of showing off yâr more careful with âow you teleport around!â His red and black eyes flared with a bit of danger, and the deck of cards glowed. Remy really wasnât planning on doing anything more than being intimidating.Â
He huffed leaning down to grab his glasses, keeping his eyes on the man. If this did end badly because of his reckless tongue he probably shouldnât put himself at a disadvantage right away. âFuckinâ teleporters,â He muttered out brushing off the glasses. Â
The cards caught his attention, and he glanced up sideways at the other. Immediately, he snapped his head around to see the tricks better, his eyes slowly growing into stars as he was completely entranced by the sudden change of events. Glowing cards, cool tricks, andâŠ!
       âA Superhero!?â
For the moment, everything was pushed away with the newfound information, stopping in his tracks completely. Forget ice cream! This was way cooler! (Pun intended.)
âWow, does that mean you have superpowers and stuff? Can you fly? Can you shoot lasers from your eyes? Oh, do you have your own TV show!?â
He danced around in front of Remy, staring up at him expectantly with large eyes. He was completely invested in this now; he wouldnât let this guy go without answering his questions first.
Remy laughed a little and he let the cards rest in his hands. He pulled off the top card. He had not seen many that excited in recent memory. Maybe because of the political turmoil of mutants or maybe superheroes had just become mundane. He set the card on one of his fingers letting it spin impossibly.Â
âAh Mon Ami, I do âave powers.â Remy laughed. âNo flight nor lasers unfortunately. Did know some people like that in my time. No, no TV show. Would have been cool, but not popular enough.â He laughed and he stood up straight letting the card come to rest in his palm.Â
âWhat I can do is make thinâs float and...â With a dramatic swoop of his arm he sent the card flying into the air. It wasnât much longer that it exploded. âMake things explode. Along with a few other things.âÂ
Truth to Mask the Heart
He was silent.
He was quiet because he didnât know what to say. This feeling swelling in his lungs felt familiar and it hurt a lot. For a brief moment, he wondered if he shouldâve come here in the first place.
No, this was important. He had to know. And he knew now. So, what would he do with the truth?
      âYouâŠâ
He inhaled.
âYou have to stop. You canât do this again! You could really get hurt.â
He had faith that Remy did hurt people himself. No, Remy was a good person. He just did bad things. Thatâs all it was. Thatâs all Steven hoped it was.
âPlease, you have to promise me youâll never do it again!â
Remy paused quietly watching Stevenâs reaction it certainly wasnât exactly what he expected. He honestly expected to be yelled at or for Steven to run away threatening to call the police. Concern over his safety was kind of the last thing he thought about. Remy knew though that, it wasnât a promise he could keep. It was one of his few ways of income until the bars and casinos really took off. If they ever did.Â
Remy sighed he didnât want to lie not to Steven. Even more so he didnât want Steven to find out later that he had been lied to. âNow... Mon Ami that isnât a promise I can keep.âÂ
âI know that itâs hard to hear but I really donât want to lie to you. Itâs âow I make money, Mon Ami.âÂ
The feline seems to fumble about in her grip, meowing pitifully at her and hissing a few times. Eventually, Alluraâs grip weakens and the cat squirms until it jumps out of her hands. She watches as it runs from her and to a man. Who, as she looked up at him, didnât look too happy about how she was treating his cat. Her eyes narrow, hands going to her hips.
âYour cat doesnât seem very friendly. He was hurting my friends!â She huffs, her little mice friends peeking out from behind her hair, resting on her shoulder. Her mice meant a lot to her; as if she would let them get hurt.
âI was stopping him from hurting my friends further. If I hadnât picked him up, he could have done some real damage. Maybe you should teach him on how not to attack every little creature in sight.â Was she angry? Damn straight she was. The way her paladins spoke of cats, they were soft, cuddly, and friendly. Looks like they were wrong.
Remy carefully picks up Oliver rolling his eyes, and lets him jump up onto his shoulder. He was still angry about the miss treatment of his cat and she was implying that he had gone after her mice. Well it was obvious that Oliver would chase mice. He was a cat and was much helpful for rats and mice in his last hell of an apartment.Â
âOliver is friendly not just toward common pests.â Remy really didnât mean it more as an insult on her for having mice indeed he had met several owners of the sort in his time. It was more letting them roam around the halls freely that he had a problem with.Â
âTwo problems. Yâr askinâ a cat to not to hunt mice. The thinâ that we practically keep âem around for. Two yâr askinâ moi ta train a cat, which is a nearly impossible task. If it wasnât âe wouldnât be out of my apartment bothering yâr mice in da first place.â
âYou probably shouldnât let yâr mice roam free most people donât take kindly to âem.â Â Â
The fox winces when his arm is moved, biting his lip to keep any sound from escaping. So it is broken; heâd figured, with how it looked, and the sound heâd heard when the monster got him before. Despite his efforts, he hisses quietly when Remy begins to clean the gash.
He glances at the other, only for a moment, before averting his gaze to the floor.
âI- I know, butâŠâ Tails has no issue working on a team, usually, nor asking for helpâ When the reason he needs help doesnât involve him making a fool of himself, that is. Heâd mess something up, heâd fix it himself, and then heâd come back better and having learned from it without having other people deal with his screw ups. Thatâs how heâs always done this.
âYou donât n-need to bother yourself.â Heâd pull away if he werenât afraid of the pain.
âThis is goinâ to hurt.âÂ
âNothinâ wrong with askinâ for âhelp even if itâs yâr own screw ups. If that was da case I would be dead a few times over because of it.â Usually Rogue or Logan would have to come and help out his stupid ass when those things happened. He did have a talent for getting himself into a tight spot. Sure it sucked but he wouldnât trade either of them in for the world.Â
âWell Iâm here now.â He explained and let out a breath putting his hands carefully on either side of the break point. âAnd think about âow bad this could âave been if I wasnât-â Right in the middle of the sentence he made the swift motion with his hands pushing Tailsâ bone back into the right place. âout âere.â
âSorry, they say it âurts less if yâ arenât expectinâ it.â Â
Tailsâ eyes widen and his mouth falls open slightly, staring at the cards during the duration of Remyâs trick. His mind races with the possibilities; Does he control them with magnetism? The cards donât look like a metalâ strings, wires? How did he do that?
Once he stops gawking, he realizes Remy had been speaking, and tries to catch up. Something about casinos and luck; he can obviously see why the human (if he truly is one, he thinks) would be able to make a profit, but again, he doesnât want to assume. Whether Remy uses his ability, whatever it may be, to⊠gain an advantage in casinos or not is none of his business.
âGambitââ a cool nickname, he thinks, for a decidedly cool person. That card trick from earlier still has him baffled.
âOhâ Hardly. Iâm more of a mechanic and inventor than I am a pilot, really. Which is why Iâve gotta ask; how did you do that thing with the cards? Electromagnetism, maybe? Are they metal or something?â And so begins the interrogation. This boy really needs to learn some restraint.
Remy laughed a little he was always thrilled whenever he successfully was able to make one of his tricks work in baffling someone. It happens more here than in his own world because mutants had become such a common sight there. His name had certainly out done him.Â
The question makes Remy laugh deciding that superpowers probably was an uncommon thing or maybe even non-existent in Tails universe. ââere,â He hands over the deck of cards for Tails to examine and he pulls out a fresh still in the wrapping pack from his coat pocket. âI can tell yâ there is no trickery going on âere. Just a normal set of cards. The ability is all natural.âÂ
He takes the fresh cards out of the pack flushing them out to Tails to shown him there was nothing special about the deck, that they were just normal cards. âCause I can do it to things besides cards and a lot more than just making things float.â He shuffles the deck breaking it in slightly before he slips off the top card, causing it to glow.Â
âNow since y; seem to be the sciencey type Iâll explain it, the way Iâve been told it works.â He balances the corner of the card on his finger and it slowly started spinning. âI can change da type of energy objects âave. From kinetic to potential.â He motioned to what he was doing with the current card, âGettinâ things to float. or...â He stops the card catching it with his thumb and for finger.Â
âFrom potential to kinetic.â With one flick of the wrist the card flies into the air and then harmlessly explodes in a small purple-pink fire works display.Â
>> @chessmove-cardtrick;; continued from x
He grimaces when Remy calls out his lying, looking down in shame. Heâs not just some kid, he should be able to take care of himself and fix his own mistakes. And yet, here he is, burdening the other with something stupid.
He lets out a small sigh, slouching slightly again before turning so Remy can see his arm. Thereâs a gash, not bleeding profusely, but enough to drip, and it looks slightly⊠off. Broken. Not knowing what to say, he looks towards empty space, settling on the most obvious thing.
   ââŠSorry.â
Remy knelled down to Tailsâ height taking his arm and looking over at it grimacing at the state of it. âBroken...â the other frowns quietly and he letâs out a breath. âGonna hurt to get it back into place to make it heal better.â He started cleaning up the wound first just to make sure it wouldnât get infected.Â
âYâ know, there is nothinâ wrong with askinâ for help. Itâs what friends are for. Iâve seen a lot of people, kids go out on their own without help and it never ends well for them. Hell, me own abilities improved on a team.âÂ
âEspecially with thinâs like this donât be afraid to ask.âÂ
