it’s been days since the lotm donghua ended and my heart still aches for dunn smith 🥲 after finishing vol 1 earlier this year I cried at the finale but it wasn’t the same as how I feel now </3 I knew what was gonna happen the entire time but it still hit me like a truck animated

I think I got even more attached to captain bc of his gentle speaking and caring actions through the episodes, he was so father to klein you could feel the love he has for his team and city. seriously such a fantastic character in every way

maybe I also got so emotional because I’m far in the novel, so I know Very Well the huge impact captain made. its not an exaggeration at all to say klein would not have grown the way he has without dunn smith’s influence, klein loved and respected him so damn much it permanently changed him

captain (and leonard) were the first connections he made as Himself in this era. klein wouldn’t have started on his beyonder path in a situation where he could have relatively peaceful days, learn things from a good leader and be protected to some degree if not for him. klein and leonard gained their multiple-volumes mission to hunt down lanevus and ince zangwill to avenge captain. klein had modeled the identity and character design of dwayne dantés after dunn smith. he Became Him for daly’s final dance, he summons dunn’s historical projection… and gosh klein is always quoting his captain in pivotal moments. he keeps his memory alive and has come to embody being a true guardian by the example captain set. dunn smith is so deeply woven into the lotm narrative and klein’s character it would literally become a different story without him and that’s amazing

I like my silly gentle death related guys okay? And I love their dynamic. Every time those two are on screen together it just makes me so happy. Also Azik is like one of the guys that knows almost everything and that Klein allows himself to rely on
