I’m really happy with it (this is the only image I took of them all as I forgot to scan them before hanging them up). They all vary from each other drastically which makes it interesting. The size is perfect, I wouldn’t want them any smaller or bigger.
Artist Statement
At the start of 2020, Covid-19 took hold, causing a tremendous change across the globe. Life as we know it came to a halt as the pandemic caused a worldwide series of shutdowns. A situation that few, if any of us have encountered before in our lives. We have had to think about alternative outcomes and actions for the different ways we work and communicate. I have been using apps, for example, Zoom, Facetime, and Microsoft Teams to stay connected with workmates, university peers, friends and family. As we are restricted and our ability to travel is also out of reach I started to dream about what life might look like again. These apps have enabled me to blend elements of fantasy and reality into my life by playing around with different virtual zoom backgrounds and filters bringing me back to feeling like a little girl again.
When I was younger dressing up allowed me to transform into anyone I desired, and some of my early memories include online make-over games. These games enabled you to style your favourite characters and get creative with their looks and lifestyle. During lockdown I have developed an interest in photomontage using the classic techniques of cut and paste which has led me into finding a new and fresh way to explore my current reality via these online platforms and an obliging flatmate.

I like the first option a lot better than the first. I feel you need an extra image to show the variation in backgrounds you are able to choose from on zoom.
I’m not 100% sure on what order yet - it will depend on what people and objects are played within the frame
Test prints up - definitely could do with a third image sitting beside them.
The colour turned out well in each of them, as well as the matte paper type. I think if I had glossy or semi-gloss, the cutouts wouldn’t stick as well and may look strange so I’ll stick to that.
Final Presentation
I would prefer to have the images on the wall rather than on a screen/projector. I think the collage technique is what makes the images interesting and so I feel it's important to have hard copies so the viewer is able to see them up close. I also really like the look of the different paper types - this wouldn’t come through on a screen
In terms of printing the images large, I don’t think the images would come out very clear because of the quality. My test print was A3 size and it was good quality but any more and it would end up being quite pixelated.
Feedback
Magazine - reference print
Book out projector and test
Physical collage may be better
Objects stuck on make the image 3D

A Q&A with the artist on art as resistance.
Egyptian authorities are investigating after Danish photographer Andreas Hvid climbed the Great Pyramid and took a photo having sex.

Exhibition space
1. In an ideal space I would have a series of 3-4 really large images so you are immersed in each of the works.
2. In a 2x2m space, I will have a series of 3-4 images around A3 size - travel themed images.

- Images look similar to Photobooth filters
- Projected on a screen?
- Projecting people and object onto an image on the wall
- Create exhibition plan: 1. ideal space if there were no restrictions. 2. how in a 2x2m space, how would you present? Will you be able to come in and install it yourself?

Jeff Wall - large immersive images. This could be a cool way to present my images

Virtual reality Exhibitions previews! Very cool - ties into the idea of covid and not being able to leave the house.
These are a lot more playful and interesting. I like the randomness and the poses tie in better when you add objects to the different spaces.
The outer space images are my favourite, as well as the one in Egypt - need to look into what Kelvin was saying about the Egypt Pyramids
I like the office background a lot but I will keep experimenting with what objects at the smiley faces are a bit boring
I like the random magazine cutouts but feel like the images that have objects in them that seem a little more realistic are more interesting. i.e the space, pyramids and Annabel sitting on the couch. Could play around with adding more wigs?

Interesting to get cheap prints from Stationary Warehouse
Look at installation strategies that people I've been looking at have used - two rooms gallery or Instagram
Look at the images that are out of proportion
May not need objects, the images are weird enough and out of place already - still play around with it
Awkward and still positions are working well
Backgrounds are from zoom, mention this in my artist statement
Multiple ways to resolve it
Space - as we are restricted, our reactions to travel are out of reach
Think about the potential of other backgrounds
How I talk about it
Sense of escape or normalization
Images are odd, not normal as such
Think about proportions, the relationship of the models in relation to the background
I don't need to stick to office space
Travel side - fingers on the top of pyramids may be culturally inappropriate
Talk more on process
Reference childhood - bring back in the playfulness of dressing up dolls
Making fun images in a time that isn't fun
