quick life update since it’s been a while

i changed my username on ao3 to stellarsceloporus. i kept childrenwithtreebranchswords as a pseud and will still use it when posting doctor who fic but i wanted a change. one day i’ll have a username i want to stay attached to, lol

it’s been a while since i wrote any fic, but i’m getting back into it. right now, it’s mainly spider-man but i want to finish echoes of better days at some point (and some of the other dw fics saved on my computer). also i’m considering switching to posting fic on my main because it’s easier. i’m still thinking about it and whatever i choose i’ll still post the remaining chapters of eobd on here, but we’ll see.

Reverse image size change taking place on 30/11/14, and return to old image sizes before 30/11/14

For individuals who use Tumblr for personal reasons and professional reasons this layout change impacts what could be years of work.

Photographs, gifs, edits, that are tailored to Tumblr’s previous image sizes (500px, 245px and 160px respectively) now look over stretched, not only putting across a bad image for the runners behind the blog who might be looking to sell merchandise or promote their product, but it puts a bad image on Tumblr themselves, who now have a website full of over stretched, pixelly images.

Please return Tumblr’s images width to it’s original sizes (500px, 245px, 160px) rather than the current measurements (540px, 268px, 177px). This also includes spacing between photosets.

Please listen to your audience and return Tumblr’s photo sizing to how it was originally.

marvel stop giving me whiplash

first the doctor strange casting i didn't want and then 'oh it's actually not confirmed yet so maybe there's hope that we'll remove the racist parts of this story with an asian american casting' 

then all the movie announcements AND T'CHALLA AND CAROL ARE GETTING MOVIES AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

i mean they should make more movies with poc and women leads but those were the two movies i wanted most from the mcu (except for black widow which still isn't happening, ugh) so i'm happy and i'll take up the call for more diversity in like a week when the excitement fades but for now T'CHALLA AND CAROL GUYS <3

that said they should cast poc as black bolt and medusa in inhumans and asian-americans for doctor strange and iron fist to get rid of the racist mightey whitey implications of their origins while also adding a layer of connecting with ancestral heritage that enriches the story as a whole

AND THEN today's reveal of the amazing spider-man summer 2015 teaser poster and it's called 'renew your vows' and i'm not letting myself hope that they're reversing one more day (finally) because i don't trust the current creative team but WHAT IF?!?!?!?! a female character you see as asexual (natasha romanoff)

Natasha’s memories are a little fuzzy sometimes but Natasha cannot remember a time when she has’t been confident in her asexuality.

To Natasha, sex has always been one thing: a weapon. One of the best weapons at her disposal in fact. Sex made the people around her wild, craving it, and Natasha ruthlessly exploited that weakness. Sex was like interrogation. It was a surprisingly effective way of getting information she needed and it wasn’t quite as messy as torture.

She’s had people question her sexuality, saying it may simply be an effect of her time in the red room but Natasha knows better. Natasha has always been and will always be asexual. Even Tony questioned her about it - not sure he was able to understand how someone could have no sexual attraction to anyone - and she shut that down effectively. 

If she’s being specific, Natasha identifies as a demiromantic asexual. Romantic attraction is a rare experience for her but she found datemates in Bucky and Clint.

Natasha eventually becomes a symbol of asexuality, the same way Steve becomes a symbol of bisexuality when he comes out - both of them at the same press conference, sharing a little fortifying smile before doing so. Where before she was probably the one who received the least amount of fan-letters - hey, what can she say, she knows she can be intimidating -, she began to receive letters from people everywhere, talking about how much of an inspiration she has been for them and she and Steve pass each other, both of their arms full of letters, and smile again.

(And when Bruce admits he thinks he might be demisexual, Natasha is the one he goes to.)

Asexual Awareness Week Fandom Challenge

A thing I may or may not participate in, but definitely want as many people to try as possible. A big problem for asexual geeks (and grey-a’s, demisexuals, and other people on the spectrum) is the lack of representation we get in the fandoms that we spend most of our time participating in. To this, I say let’s take our favorite characters and mold them to reflect us. 

Participate in this challenge in any way you want on Asexual Awareness Week (Oct 26 - Nov 1). Edits, gifs, fanart, fanfiction, fanmixes, just copy-pasting this and listing them out one by one, literally in any way you contribute to the fandom on a day to day basis. 

Day 1: A male character you see as asexual.  Day 2: A female character you see as asexual.  Day 3: A character you see as grey-a or demisexual.  Day 4: A ship you would like to see as an asexual one.  Day 5: A male character you see as aromantic.  Day 6: A female character you see as aromantic.  Day 7: A ship you would like to see as a platonic one.

Do you guys ever think about how lucky we are?

We get to read novels that other people will never know existed. We get to know authors before they hit the mainstream.

We get feedback from like-minded people who are 90% of the time gushing over how much they love our work.

We get to watch ourselves grow as writers, laugh and cry with our favorite characters in ways most people will never get to experience, and discover new writers who become our friends.
