genre + tropes: lifeguard!au, friends to lovers, mutual pining, soft steam, a lil bit of angst hehe

synopsis: in which prince beomgyu discovers who he needed all along
A/N: my first ever kpop fanfic! hopefully you guys enjoy, please let me know what you think!
A wealth worth a thousand nations lies in Beomgyu’s eyes.
The legend of the perfect prince that you’d only heard through whispers echoing the castle walls is nothing of interest to you. The only thing you really have the energy to focus on is the stains littering the downstairs windows that you’ll have to scrub away later, or the plush carpet in the Great Hall that needs cleaning.
The prince is of no concern to a lowly servant like you.
That is, until the day you hear quiet whimpering in the garden.
One of the older maids had sent you to sweep up the fallen leaves from the garden paths, wanting them clean before the king and queen took their evening walk. It was actually a task you didn’t mind doing, since it meant you would get to spend a decent length of time among the flowers and greenery.
About 5 minutes into your work, though, you’re shocked to see the prince crouched between the hedges, head hanging low between his knees and sobs wracking his body.
“Your Majest-” you start, only for him to reach out and yank you down beside him. The small corner of the vast castle gardens is shadowed by tall hedges, a place only you and he know.
“Don’t say anything,” he murmurs, cheeks red with tears, “I don’t want them to find me here.”
Warning/s: mentions of alcohol and blood (once in the beginning); depictions of characters within the story are solely for the purpose of the story and are by no means depictions of the personalities of the actual individuals; plot holes are intentional for,,,confidential reasons
Persuaded by the persistent pleas of the boy on whom you’ve been harbouring a secret crush, you make an appearance at the Torpe Manor party. Much to your dismay, he pays you little mind — hurt that is all but fleeting, before your heart is stolen away under the enchanting gazebo.
a/n: sorry this took so long, sweetheart! thank you for requesting this, i was so excited to write it (especially since i added my own little spin). i probably should apologize for making it a full blown fic, but i really hope you enjoy!
teaser, moodboard & a song suggestion!
“You’ll never believe this, (Y/n)!”
You paused before placing the rest of the ceramics onto the tray, lips twitching into a smile as five rowdy boys, who you were all too familiar with, shuffled into the dim tavern. It was early morning, the hour not too shy of when the rooster cried, so Jim’s still faced the aftermath of the night before. The smell of beer, blood and tobacco still hung thick in the air, the few drunkards who remained contributing amply to the stench. As unpleasant as it seemed, you had grown fond of the scuffed up floors and furniture with all their dents and chips, the scruffy patrons who mostly knew how to behave themselves, and Jim; the sweet landlord with a pot-belly and a hearty laugh, who took you in when no one else would.
“That fool, Yoon Keeho, is throwing a party at Torpe Manor – can you believe it?” Beomgyu scoffed, poking and prodding one of the inebriated customers who slumbered at a table close to the door. Twisting his face at the odor, he shoved the poor man aside and wiped his hands on the white handkerchief he pulled from his pocket, before placing it on the chair and seating himself. You couldn’t help but laugh.
❧ synopsis: without giving it much thought, yn decides to start placing love letters in yeonjun’s locker in hopes to finally have the courage to confess to him one day. little did yn know how quickly the letters would catch yeonjun’s attention and how determined he was to find out who the anonymous love letter sender is.

— summary;; for someone who always has a lot to say, you sure aren’t the best at talking things out
As if today wasn’t going bad enough. A bad hair day on top of a wrong coffee order was enough to drive you to the edge. You’re understanding, really you are. However, when your simple Americano order is messed up by the same barista every single time, but the middle-aged lady ordering a Frappuccino with three vanilla pumps, a swirl of caramel and a shake of chocolate powder doesn’t even have to ask anymore…. Yes, you’ve memorised her order at this point. Yes, it is personal.
And now this!
“Two years of friendship,” you shake your head, burning holes into your coffee with your glare. “Down the drain, just like that. And they say college made friendships are meant to last.”
Your (ex) best friend Yena splutters, throwing up her hands. She almost knocks over her cup of hot chocolate with the foam delicately shaped into a heart. Sure, the barista does that for her in a hopeless attempt at flirting, but you have to wait an extra five minutes for your plain hot beverage to be fixed, forced to witness a gross display of hopeless pining as he creepily stares at Yena. She doesn’t like to talk about it.
“Oh my God, will you stop with this already?” she rolls her eyes, completely used to your dramatic tendencies. Usually, you would just laugh it off at this point, but in circumstances such as utter betrayal you were genuinely furious. “It was just a couple of dates!”
“What’s this I hear?” Beomgyu slides into the booth next to you setting his smoothie down on the table and gasping. “Yena, have you been cheating on Y/N?”
“She may as well have done!” you exclaim, not skipping a beat. You want the best for your friend, of course you do. Just not when the best is Choi Soobin. Or what comes with him that is. Lowering your voice in case anyone overhears, you lean in. “Why Soobin of all people?”
having a cold isn’t a life or death matter — no matter how dramatically awful one feels during the experience — and at six years of age, you understand that well enough. but that doesn’t make it hurt any less when you leave your home, school bag on your back with your lunchbox in hand, as you get ready to jump into your dad’s car. alone.
normally at this time, soobin would be rushing out of his house next door — hair messy and unbrushed, milk dribbling from the corner of his mouth because he just finished eating breakfast — but today, his mum had called your dad to say he wouldn’t be going to school with you. he was ill.
WARNINGS; mild language, death, murder, yandere-like themes of obsession

SUMMARY; Nestled at the far end of the fifth-floor hallway, Apartment 509 is your first place away from home and a chance at a fresh start. Neither rumors of a haunting nor the slightly run-down look of the place can dissuade you from signing a lease. Even when the rumors turn out to be true, you find yourself fond of the company, and— if his insistence upon you staying is any indication— your ghostly new friend feels the same.
The very first time Beomgyu made his presence known was in the middle of your tour. The realtor was just telling you— almost hesitantly— about the need to dispel any rumors you might have heard about the apartment being haunted when a loud thud sounded from the living room. You paused, in the middle of testing the faucet at the kitchen sink to make sure the water came out clear, before resuming with a shrug.
“So I get a roommate, is what you’re telling me?” you asked. The realtor forced a nervous little laugh.
“It’s just house noises, but sure, if you’d like to think of it that way.”
“Who would even want to haunt a place like this?” you asked, glancing around at the peeling wallpaper and discolored tiles of the kitchen. Sunlight filtered in through the window, illuminating hundreds of tiny motes of dust. Actually, the apartment wasn’t bad at all. Certainly more spacious than anything else you could have gotten for this asking price. Just a little run-down looking, like it hadn’t been loved in a while.
“Well, you see…” The realtor reached into her briefcase reluctantly before pulling out a piece of paper. It was a print out of an online news article from two years ago. “Someone died here.”
