this is not a one size fits all prescription but far and away i am the most inspired and find it easiest to write when i read loads of fanfic and comment on it and interact with other people in fandom at a deeper level!!! even when they have completely different interpretations than i do or the fics are nothing like what i write (especially then!) it really gets my gears turning and makes it fun to write fic again. this is how i personally get inspired and why i’m always asking for recs or for people to tag me into their writing
