starting with valentino ofc when i was first developing his lore i originally had it as him fighting in a war, but later had an idea to change it into a battle to exterminate mimics (the species damien is) since they are a highly dangerous species. (and it honestly works better than my original idea) of course, the mimics are very strong and took out several people! val only wanted to get his medical school bills paid off, he didn't expect to be called in for this, as he was always a more kind, trusting person before it all. but! luckily, in the present moments he's been going to therapy because i just couldnt leave him traumatized like that :[ before the therapy he'd get paranoid that people around him were "fake," always expecting an attack from another mimic, his instincts always on high alert. and of course, the restless nights filled with nightmares... i've also been thinking about adding in that around this time in his life he'd get powers because, yes, outside of playhouse of horrors valentino is the only person with canonical powers! now the mimics, or at least what lore i have for damien since hes really my only mimic OC mimics have been around for centuries, evolving with humans to blend in more with them, as they prey mainly on humans. in the modern days, programs have been created to help deal with them, as well as the military (the army branch obviously) aiding in getting rid of the entire species. these programs haven't really been characterized yet but i plan to do that eventually!! mimics are also heavily inspired off of bugs :3 soooo... if you ever wanna make an oc thats a mimic, keep that in mind, hehe. it can be based off a beetle, a mantis, a wasp even, literally anything! so far a centipede is the only one i have... idk, i really like them now, damien specifically is a very sought after mimic for how he keeps getting away from authorities, however... he's also very guilty about being a mimic, more curious about humanity instead of wanting to eat people, however his nature as a mimic makes it hard to interact normally, plus his considered "weird" features like his eyes and scars...
