Chiyoda Division Imperial Velvet is an all-female rap group consisting of CEO and Division Leader, Ayazono Misora, Personal Assistant, Towa Aira, and the infamous Actress, Kanzaki Rion.
As evident by their team name, the group's chosen color is crimson velvet.
The group's chosen symbol is the diamond with a dot. It is elegant, sharp, aristocratic, and carries the "fractured perfection" theme that runs through all three women.
All three women have a diamond somewhere on their person: Misora wears is as a small platinum lapel pin on the left side of her dress jacket, Aira wears it as a tiny charm on her choker, and Rion has a diamond tattoo behind her left ear.
The group's hand sign from Rhyme Anima is them simply sticking up the pinky finger on their off hand whilst the other fingers are balled into a fist.
Under the direction of Misora, the group's main goal is not necessarily to win the D.R.B., but to fulfill their individual goals: Rion seeks to rebuild her reputation, Aira aims to showcase her technological brilliance to all of Japan, and Misora intends to claim what she rightfully believes is hers: the Golden Lasso Ranch of Chiba Division.
Happy Pride Month everyone! Be safe and have fun celebrating! You matter and who you love and who/what you identify matters too, you are completely valid ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖
And as always, our apologies if we unintentionally offend someone.
— Misora
Bisexual Biromantic
Misora experiences physical attraction toward both men and women, but her attraction to women tends to feel stronger and more emotionally charged. Years of being objectified by men, treated as a pretty face rather than a capable, intelligent woman, have made her guarded around male attention. With women, she feels seen, respected, and understood, which deepens her attraction.
Romantically, she develops feelings slowly and only when she feels emotionally safe. She assumed she was straight throughout high school, but meeting Aira in university revealed her capacity for same‑gender romantic attraction. Her love is deliberate, loyal, and deeply protective. She doesn't fall often, but when she does, it's with her whole heart.
— Aira
Lesbian Homoromantic
Aira experiences physical attraction exclusively toward women. She realized in high school that she felt nothing toward boys, a fact that confused and worried her, especially with a father who still treats her like his "little girl." Around girls, however, she felt a warm, fluttering pull she couldn't explain at first. With the help of a counselor and later her university LGBTQ+ club, she learned her feelings were normal and valid.
Romantically, she develops deep, sincere affection for women, but she's cautious about expressing it. Her love for Misora grew slowly over years of admiration, trust, and shared work, but she keeps those feelings hidden out of fear of ruining their friendship or disrupting their professional bond. Aira loves wholeheartedly, but she's terrified of losing the people she cares about.
— Rion
Heterosexual Heteroromantic
Rion experiences physical attraction exclusively toward men, something she's known since her early teens. Despite playing characters of various orientations throughout her acting career, her own attraction has never wavered. However, her relationship with sexual attention is complicated. Years of obsessive fans, predatory producers, and jealous co‑stars have made her hyper‑vigilant. She keeps her guard high, rarely lets anyone close, and shuts down unwanted advances instantly.
Romantically, she still only develops feelings for men, but she’s wary of romance as a whole. The darker side of fame has left her distrustful, exhausted, and unsure whether genuine affection even exists in her world. She's currently dating Tomi Chōten, but she keeps the relationship at arm's length. Not because she doesn’t care, but because she's afraid of being used, betrayed, or hurt again. If something real grows from it, it will be slow, cautious, and entirely on her terms.
As the head of the division and the most tactically astute member of the trio, Misora expertly manages the chaos of the battlefield with grace and accuracy. Her rap ability generates intricate illusions that confuse perception, disrupt enemy coordination, and compel adversaries to squander their efforts on deceptive targets. While she frequently places herself at the forefront of the action, she remains incredibly agile, seamlessly transitioning between attacking and supporting as the situation demands. Just her presence is enough to shake the resolve of opposing forces; taking her out first is the wisest strategy for any rival team… that is, if they can navigate through her illusions long enough to land a blow.
Aira is the wildcard of Imperial Velvet. Her rapping ability hinges on the outcome of her speaker die, resulting in effects that can fluctuate dramatically. At times, she enhances her allies' abilities, while other moments see her weakening foes or triggering unexpected environmental phenomena that catch both sides off guard. Though she is unpredictable, Aira remains eager to support her teammates, moving swiftly from one location to another with remarkable finesse. She may not be the most powerful attacker or the sturdiest defender, yet her erratic nature compels her adversaries to continually adjust their strategies.
Rion stands as the main pillar of pure, formidable strength for her team. As a skilled fighter and stunt artist, she thrives in close-quarter confrontations, dodging strikes with remarkable finesse. Her rap ability boosts her physical prowess to almost superhuman heights, delivering her words with tremendous impact. Yet, this immense power has a downside: once her ability fades, she becomes highly susceptible to attacks. Consequently, adversaries frequently opt to strike at her right after Misora or right at the outset if they are wary of her explosive potential.
— Misora
Aira to Misora is the first person the CEO ever allowed past her walls: a confidant, assistant, and friend whose presence dates back to their university days. Through countless late-night study marathons, shared meals, and intimate moments where Misora let her defenses down, Aira emerged as the unwavering support Misora could always count on. Although she never fully grasped the reasons behind their connection, Misora recognizes that Aira's genuine nature and unvarnished truths created a niche in her life that no one else has managed to occupy.
As time passed, Aira evolved into the singular person Misora trusts implicitly. She confides in her regarding her schedule, her well-being, her secrets, and the fragile silences they share that only Aira knows how to decipher. Misora seldom shows her feelings openly, yet she conveys her affection through trust, by attentively listening when Aira speaks, by allowing Aira to witness her during her most drained moments, and by never doubting Aira's fidelity. Misora appreciates Aira not merely as a helper, but as a stabilizing force who anchors her when the burdens of leadership become overwhelming.
In Rap Battles, their synergy is instinctive; Aira adjusts her effects to Misora's illusions, and Misora shields her without needing a word.
Rion to Misora is someone Misora in high regard, yet she maintains a careful distance. She has faced scandal, battled addiction, and endured the harsh realities of fame, all while preserving her dignity. This kind of resilience earns Misora's deep admiration, even if she never articulates it. Misora sees the intensity in Rion's gaze, a reflection of her own inner fire, concealed beneath layers of self-discipline and restraint.
Nevertheless, Misora handles Rion with the utmost caution, akin to a finely crafted sword: fierce, striking, and perilous if not wielded properly. She observes her quietly, not from a place of pity, but out of a genuine concern for Rion's well-being, hoping to prevent her from exhausting herself once more. When Rion's career was on shaky ground, it was Misora who reached out, not to rescue her, but because she recognized the untapped potential waiting to flourish. She values Rion's autonomy and refrains from interfering unless it's truly essential, yet she remains vigilant.
Despite their contrasting personalities, Misora sincerely wishes for Rion's triumph. She appreciates Rion's fiery spirit, her unwavering resolve, and the stark authenticity she brings to their field. Misora is acutely aware that Rion's strength can be both her most formidable asset and her biggest weakness. In rap battles, Misora cleverly employs her illusions to create opportunities for Rion's powerful blows, timing her assistance to shield Rion whenever her energy begins to wane.
— Aira
Misora to Aira is the woman whom she devoted herself to serving. Not merely out of duty, but from a true admiration that blossomed during their university years. Aira fondly recalls the countless nights they spent immersed in their studies, the soft discussions that flowed into the early dawn, and the captivating confidence with which Misora navigated life. Being part of Misora's team only intensified those feelings, evolving from simple admiration to heartfelt attraction, and eventually blossoming into a love Aira keeps tucked away. Her relentless efforts to promote Misora's success stem from a deep-seated desire to see her shine, rather than any obligation.
Yet, despite her unwavering devotion, there are aspects of Misora that Aira struggles to comprehend, particularly Misora's fierce ambition to take control of the Golden Lasso Ranch. Aira enjoys a good rapport with the Takamine sisters, especially Zōi, with whom she engages in lengthy discussions about robotics and engineering, as well as playing Dungeons & Dragons. She doesn't view the sisters as adversaries and cannot fully grasp the depths of Misora's grudge against them. Nevertheless, Aira never openly questions Misora's choices; she has faith in her leader's judgment, even when she finds it puzzling, and she is prepared to do whatever it takes to help Misora reach her aspirations.
Aira's loyalty is unwavering and passionate, marked by a quiet intensity. She knows when to rein Misora in, expresses her thoughts candidly yet respectfully, and sees beyond the CEO facade to the woman who bears her burdens in solitude, seldom allowing anyone to get too close. Aira holds Misora in high regard, regardless of what others might think, and she stands firmly by her side without a second thought. In rap battles, Aira skillfully adapts her unpredictable style to enhance Misora's illusions, moving in flawless harmony with her leader's rhythm.
Rion to Aira is someone Aira tolerates more than she likes. While there's no animosity between them, neither holds much fondness for the other. To Aira, Rion comes off as a brute: loud, abrasive, and all too similar to the high-school jocks who made her teenage years a challenge. She prefers to steer clear of any interactions with Rion outside of their rap battles, aiming to maintain a strictly professional rapport. Although she acknowledges Rion's physical prowess, she has little patience for her attitude. Their personalities clash in nearly every way imaginable: Aira's bright, geeky enthusiasm conflicts with Rion's rough, straightforward demeanor.
Yet, despite their differences, they never venture into the territory of cruelty. They may trade barbs, but they keep it light, ensuring their jests don't hit too hard. An unspoken agreement exists between them: keep things superficial, maintain fairness, and avoid delving into the past. Their relationship is characterized by sharp wit, teasing banter, and a peculiar sense of functionality, an odd companionship forged through shared annoyance rather than genuine affection. Misora often listens quietly to their exchanges, intervening only if one of them oversteps the mark.
During rap battles, Aira backs Rion with calculated strategy, even if she can't help but roll her eyes in the process.
— Rion
Misora to Rion is the woman to whom Rion owes her renewed life, the one who reached out when Rion was at her lowest and offered support rather than sensationalism. After her time in rehab, Rion's existence had become limited to dimly lit bars and shabby stages, performing for spare change while masking her longing for the limelight. It was Misora who leveraged her influence, utilized her connections, and showed unwavering resolve to reinstate Rion in the industry she cherished. For this, Rion harbors a profound, unvoiced gratitude. She works alongside Misora not out of a sense of duty, but because she feels compelled to repay the faith shown to her when nobody else did.
However, despite this loyalty, Rion remains an enigma. She struggles to express herself, even to the person who resurrected her career. Misora is her mentor, her supporter, and someone she holds in high regard, yet emotional intimacy is a challenge for Rion. She maintains a certain distance, not from suspicion, but from a deeply ingrained pattern. Years spent relying solely on herself have turned vulnerability into something she views as risky, and even now, she grapples with how to close the divide between her gratitude and a true connection.
Nevertheless, Rion observes Misora intently, quietly soaking in her strength and poise. She admires Misora's self-discipline, her drive, and the way she commands attention without raising her voice. Although Rion may not vocalize it, she values Misora's mentorship and has more trust in her decisions than she lets on. During rap battles, Rion instinctively follows Misora's lead, seizing the opportunities created by her strategic illusions to deliver powerful blows.
Aira to Rion is someone the actress can only tolerate in small, carefully measured amounts. It's not hatred; it's more a sense of unease. Aira's vibrant enthusiasm and unwavering loyalty to Misora touch on sensitive areas that Rion has spent years attempting to suppress. To Rion, Aira's steadfastness resembles adoration, too similar to the empty praise that surrounded her upbringing. Her parents' circle was filled with individuals who lauded them for their status rather than for their authenticity, teaching Rion early on that what often masquerades as "devotion" can conceal manipulation. Thus, when she sees Aira admiring Misora with wide-eyed wonder, her instinct is to pull away, even though she recognizes that Aira's intentions are sincere.
Her experiences in the film industry have only sharpened this instinct. Rion has encountered "fans" who lauded her solely for their gain, advisors who feigned concern while pushing her toward self-destruction, and colleagues who smiled sweetly in her presence while feeding gossip to the tabloids behind her back. Unfortunately, Aira's earnestness mirrors the same patterns that once led Rion into a dark place. Rion understands that this is unfair to Aira, yet trauma seldom considers fairness. Because of this, Rion maintains her distance, not out of spite, but as a means of self-protection.
However, beneath the annoyance and barbed comments lies a reluctant thread of admiration. Rion envies Aira's sharp intellect, her creativity, and her natural ability to connect with like-minded people. While she would never openly confess it, she values Aira's forthrightness, even when it irritates her. Their banter is cutting but never malicious, a peculiar bond forged from shared irritation rather than warmth. In rap battles, Rion relies on Aira's sense of timing to seize the moment, even if she rolls her eyes while doing so.
"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become."
