What Job Could They Have in a Modern World? (AU)
This man would be a celebrity no matter what he does, really, and most of the time, he doesn't even mean to get so much attention on himself. From potentially being an influencer on Instagram or making a podcast on Spotify that gets a shit-ton of followers to turning into a conspiracy theorist YouTuber or getting his own TV show after trying stand-up comedy in a small pub (and putting them on TikTok), people are drawn to him like moths to fire.
Hell, he probably could turn a basic-ass pyramid scheme (that he got scammed into himself, mind you!) into a full-blown cult without even wanting to! People just can't help but love and adore him!
He definitely would not be as well known as Buggy, at least, not to the public eye, and he likes it that way. Similar to the One Piece Universe, he would definitely be in organised crime again, though, that's for sure. Owning several places, lots of casinos, pubs, and even brothels, he would have no problem dealing drugs, weapons, and information while making sure to keep his anonymity. Though I could see him doing charity work every now and then just to show his "philanthropist" side, you know, to get some good PR and lessen the suspicions (while money laundering, ofc).
He could be an Olympics-level Fencer, a gardener, a world-renowned chef, or perhaps a Sommelier. Whatever he does, he does it with obsession; however, until he has perfected the art better than anyone else. And, as a result, he becomes a well-known figure to many across the globe. Not that he cares much about it, but still.

Ahhh, another man who's knee-deep in organised crime. And, you know what? He loves it more than anything! Starting up from a small gang that slowly becomes a Mafia Family through the years that terrorizes the whole continent, this man is a total menace to society. Trafficking in people, drugs, illicit goods and weapons, armed robbery, acts of arson, murder, torture, counterfeiting and money laundering... He does NOT have any lines that he won't cross, that's for damn sure. He has hitmen, bodyguards, doctors, politicians, and so many others under him that it's almost as if he's ruling his own kingdom underground. He has a criminal enterprise so vast and intricate that the police have to work for decades just to uncover a single piece of evidence that they can use in court, despite being a well-known figure to everyone.
I cannot imagine a universe in which he doesn't become a criminal, to be honest. What else could happen, though? Well, he could be a corrupt politician thanks to his serpent's tongue, or perhaps a mayor/president who meddles with stuff that...he probably shouldn't if he were a bit less evil/ambitious.
Other than that? Well, if in one universe where he somehow doesn't get into the criminal world, he probably would find a job that would get him the most attention, really, and, of course, money. An actor, perhaps, since he's already great at lying. Or perhaps a model, since he would love to show off his body, he worked to get so fit, posting thirst-traps on his social media and gaining a shit-ton of following while at it.
No matter the universe, he would make sure to get the most luxurious life and indulge in everything his twisted little heart desires, of course.
🚬❤️🔥Donquixote Rosinante❤️🔥🚬
My poor boy doesn't have the same aspirations as his brother, but he has a heart of gold and doesn't need all that wealth to live a good life, anyway. He would probably try to find a job in law again, though, that's definitely his call. Maybe a special agent, police officer, or perhaps a soldier if not the Marines again; as long as it would help him help others, he's satisfied with his life. Although perhaps in a modern world, he would not be able to keep his job for as long and would likely get fired frequently (which forces him to do odd jobs wherever he can) !
Because of this, his life would include a lot of instant noodles, late-night smoking, and looking at his pitifully empty wallet from time to time.
And, maybe most of you wouldn't agree, but in a scenario where he does get along with his brother, I 100% can see him asking for help (and then end up freeloading without meaning to) from Doffy from time to time, too. Maybe he has to call his older brother he hasn't talked for a while for some cash to pay his rent on time (so embarassing...!), or maybe Doffy offers him to stay with him until he gets on his feet again, but he might end up in his brother's house on way or the other (which he swears he won't stay in more than a couple of weeks or a month or two until it turns into years, ofc. Not that Doffy minds it! He loves having his baby brother by his side all day, every day, and getting to spend time with him!)
Would he be aware of what his crime boss brother does? Maybe, maybe not! 🤫🤷
This man just goes with the flow even here. He either ends up following the family legacy and getting into the Figarland family business (office job, eww...) or he might turn into a highschool dropout who creates his own gang after trying out several jobs (cashier, waiter, construction worker, sales person, etc..) once he runs away and leaves his family behind to never see them again (because he would rather run away from his problems than have a discussion, unfortunately).
Neither of these paths is what he truly wants, though, nor is it something he even remotely enjoys.
All he truly wants is to travel the world and see everything it has to offer with his best friend/brother-in-everything-but-blood Buggy!
(And he's going to use his trust fund to do all of this, ofc, to Garling's dismay. Not that he cares, having to live like a bum every now and then and doing side jobs to pay for their next bus ticket if he has to, but he knows his clown rightfully won't take anything less than a hotel!)
Of course, in a modern world, Law would pursue nothing but medicine. He would be a great medical student, one of the hardest-working guys in his class, but what can happen once he graduates could change. He could either become a great surgeon, one of the best in his generation, OR.... he might do something VERY illegal that gets him fired/his medical license revoked. Opps. Will that stop him from cutting people, though? Of course not! He'll just do some random job like working at a restaurant or being a cashier during the day, while doing illegal operations at night. For very cheap, too! Just get on his table and let him open up your guts, that's all he wants. And most people can afford his payments, unlike what insurance and hospitals ask for! He would probably have to work with very shady people to make this work, however. It isn't easy to get his hands on supplies he needs so often and a basement/warehouse to do his surgeries by himself, after all, which means he turns a blind eye to many things that his associates do.
