The situation in Turkey has already gotten worse.
The official death toll for the earthquake is now over 11,000 people, there's still barely any emergency services in some parts of the country, and Erdogan's telling his subjects that everything they're experiencing is all part of God's plan.
Twitter in Turkey is being shut down, and now Twitter and basically most other social media is being made inaccessible. This is a huge problem not just because it restricts people from speaking out against Erdogan and his government but also because social media, especially Twitter, is a major platform people to spread info about the earthquake, find out about victims, and spread donation links. A lot of emergency aid is getting there through Twitter links, even Greece used Twitter to contact the injured. But of course, Erdogan can't have all that dissent also spreading.
Also, the only way Turkish people can access Twitter right now is through a VPN, but now VPNs are illegal there and Erdogan was out there saying that he will arrest anyone using a VPN. People living in Turkey are having their accounts blocked and suspended, and even their credit cards are blocked from Twitter. Right now I'm not expecting Elon Musk to do anything useful about that.
Turkey still needs all the help it can get. And most of all it needs Erdogan out of power - dragged out, if need be.
Please pay attention!
Just go and check the hashtag #Turkey and see what's happening there. People are suffering, they need help, on this platform at first I thought helping out might be very unlikely, but right now even the smallest helping hand has the power to pull them out of that desperation. Pay attention to what is shared about this event and please donate if you can. Otherwise, you can get more people to see it just by sharing. Tumblr may not be a helping app, but its users are HUMAN. Please pay attention!
by looking at this photos you can see how much affected southern Turkey because of earthquake
I lost some of my loved ones. And there’s so many more people need your help. The weather conditions are extremely bad. Some people cannot being rescued, some people don’t have any food, water, clothes,a place to stay and much more. And most of them can’t even get help. It’s like the apocalypse. So much worse than you see on the social media. And my people need your help. Here’s some of the things you can do
Please share this as much as you can to raise awareness, make the world aware of the crisis and inform people.
If you would like to get more information about donations and the earthquake please contact me thorough dm’s. No matter where are you from. Thank you❤️🙏🏻🇹🇷
oh my god, i just read some news about an earthquake in turkey, are you okay??
hello anon, thank you for checking in with me! I'm thankfully not that close to Kahramanmaraş where the M7.7 earthquake happened, me and my family made it out of our building safely and were only frightened.
For those who don't know, the southern part of Turkey (Kahramanmaraş as the epicenter) along with northern Syria were hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 followed by aftershocks and another wave of a 7.6 magnitude hours later. I cannot speak for what's happening in Syria but they are in dire need of help as well.
The entire region is devastated with more than 3000 deaths (and counting, news channels are hiding the real amount, or so they say) and 10s of thousands of injured and an unfathomable amount of people still stuck under the rubble, it has left hundreds of thousands homeless. The earthquake hit 4 a.m. at night, so many were caught defenseless and disoriented in their sleep.
The damage is this unbelievably devastating because the southeastern areas are criminally underdeveloped, and help cannot get anywhere in time due to collapsed roads and because the ratio of helpers to those who are in need of help are severely lacking. In some areas, people have been waiting for help for an entire day now, and no government aid has arrived.
We are in the middle of a snowstorm and people are dying of hypothermia if not from fallen buildings. Don't go searching for these videos if you're faint of heart, but I have to say that people are sending help calls and videos from under the rubble, some cities and towns still haven't received any support at all and people are still under rubble. The way their loved ones are trying to lift rocks and debris with their own hands is just... saying it's extremely upsetting is an understatement. The numbers of collapsed buildings and those fighting for life under are unfathomable.
It's so bad that Turkey has declared a state four level emergency, it's an international call for help.
Thoughts and prayers are heartwarming and mean a lot, but if you're able to donate just one dollar/euro or anything at all, please do. Turkish Lira is at an all time low right now, we are in the middle of an economic crisis. Imagine some currency is 20 dollars each, that's how bad it is.
1 dollar = 18 turkish liras 1 euro = 20 turkish liras
Therefore, this kind of money is lifechanging right now, so don't feel bad you aren't doing anything by donating so little, you're making considerable change. If you're able to help, please help.
Here are places you can donate to and explanations of the work they do

hey everyone. turkey has been struck by a very strong earthquake around four am. even now, many regions are being struck still. the weather is cold and snowy and people had to leave their homes. many people have lost their lives (edit: it’s been reported that the number is 1004 now (edit: more than 1500) (edit: more than 9000 injured people) and there are many people who are stuck under the wrecks (edit: number unkown) it has been reported that around two thousand buildings have collapsed and keep collapsing (edit: more than 9000) turkey has declared a fourth level alert state. the ‘’level 4’’ alarm condition includes an international call for help. if you can and would like to, this is the most reliable organization you can donate to:
