It’s really, really worth watching. People were feeling then exactly how we’re feeling now.
This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.

Black peer here and I think the most prominent example of blaitent appropriation of our culture is (white) curly hair tiktok or youtube.
language like the big chop (formerly a sort of political term) is used to discribe white girls chopping bleach dammage off into a cute pixi cut regularly.
not to mention all of the people trying products for Black hair on their waves that arent even ringlets and putting far too much and then wondering why it doesn't work. they've caused the price of curly hair shit to go out the window and half of these girls want curly hair to be an oppressed status when the worst 'microagressions' they get are beinh told they're forcing their hair.
also if I and many other Black people can do wash and go styles that take 30 minutes including bathing time I doubt all these girls really need 6 different products and three brushes to do their hair.
also I'm sorry but you absolutely can brush curly hair and have curls if you wet it after.
Tiktok honestly sounds terrible fr. Yes it's a source of good funnies, but I feel like stuff like this gets like... Hyperblown up and then you gotta get on there and deal with appropriation and misery from people trying to be "influencers" in every single corner. Hyperexposure? Idk what to call it. I can't imagine having to deal with it, to see so much of something so aggravating in the hundreds of thousands.
The MC being cool on the covers
The MC being cute in the manga
The MC trying to bleach his skin after suffering from mockery and cruelty because he's Blasian... That scene really got me.
The manga isn't only about this since it's a basket one but it gave me a kind of shock on his situation
And here Black basketer being cool as fuck
It's genuinely one of the rare sport manga I follow since they tend to be long, both to support the story and because it's so inspiring for charadesign for me
They were so close I was so impressed until that donut lip in the LAST PICTURE 😭 8/10 because they clearly know how to draw Black people!! What happened??? I'm sick I was so geeked for this too! I'll have to show Mr. CBC. He loves sports manga.
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
Thesis: the rise of fanwank and anti culture correlates directly with diminished understanding of what “romantic”, in a literary sense, actually means.
It doesn’t mean “this is ideal or healthy or even realistic”. It means “this is beautiful, this is tragic, this is grotesque, this stirs emotion”, even if it’s not, as @starryroom puts it, something you would be comfortable seeing play out in front of you at Taco Bell. It’s about grandiosity and mythology and heroism writ large. It’s about playing with the id, as beautiful and terrible as it can be.
LET LOVE AND LUST BE MONSTROUS.
i feel like Guillermo del Toro ghostwrote that
“I didn’t say I liked it. I said it fascinated me. There is a great difference.”
- Oscar Wilde
Also the complete misunderstanding that there is a diffrence between romance as a concept, romance in a literary sense, and Romance (capital R) as a specific literary genre.
I know that people haaaaaate thinking of books as products that need to be classified and marketed in order to be sold, but they are. « Is this book genre Romance or does it just happen to have romance in it? Is this a romantic arc, or is the author thematically playing with romantic elements in the context of a story that is not A Romance? » are important distinctions to make.
