fanfiction is a rare gem and a solid, living proof that, in a world of tiktok, influencers and content posting, not everything is about money and going viral. art can still be art just for the sake of the artists’ pure love, joy and passion for the art they create. fanfic writers write 100k words and more about the characters they love for free. just because they love these characters and the art of writing so much. art is not dead and the world is still beautiful.
shoutout to fanfiction and fanfic writers

Rather than being depressed about Brian Wilson, I'd like to celebrate the fact that someone with such severe mental health struggles made it to age 82. I saw him perform about ten years ago and he seemed a bit out of it, but really happy to be there. I remember at one point the crowd erupted in applause and he looked confused and went "You're... clapping for me? I can't believe you're clapping for me!" which of course made everyone cheer even more.
You made it, dude. You had a long hard road but you made it all the way to 82, and people never stopped wanting to clap for you and your music.

something that i find extremely compelling with jimmy and robert* is the knowing between them. as in, to be loved is to be known, and the question of how well they know each other
(*i'm speaking largely about jimmy and robert as represented in fic because they are of course real people about whom we can only speculate, though of course the representations of them in fic are based on truth. that's all i will say about this here but we could go on about this)
Like, i look at them and i see two people who, paradoxically, deeply know one another despite never deliberately allowing themselves to be known. do you know what i mean? in many respects i don't believe either one of them was willing to admit weakness to the other. i don't believe that they would communicate directly about pain or fear or a desire to be seen by the other but at the same time they see each other fully. no matter how hard they try each cannot help but be known by the other.
robert talks all the time about how intimate it was to write together and it's evident in the rawness of the music. their songwriting style is incredibly vulnerable and passionate and emotional in both the lyricism and the composition and it's impossible to write like that without leaving something of yourself on the table for your partner to see and hold and shape. It's literally impossible. their truth, you can hear it in the music. it's deeper than language alone can express. you don't read it or even hear it, you sense it, feel it, intuit it. I can't tell you what it is, but it's there. And to create it together they HAD to see that truth in each other.
jimmy is relentlessly dedicated to cultivating his enigmatic image. even robert with his heart on his sleeve doesn't let people see everything, inflappably joyful in public. yet there is no music more vulnerable and exposed than theirs. there never has been, i really believe that. and how do you make that with someone who doesn't know you? i think they SAW each other at the core. yet i also believe they kept a lot of their inner workings obscured, intentionally and doggedly, even from each other. am i wrong?
caught you smiling at me, that's the way it should be!
it's always been weird to me how led zeppelin is seen as this uber-masculine testosterone fueled rock band when no one has ever served as much cunt as peak seventies robert plant

The Face of Evil is so funny from Leela’s perspective like imagine getting banished from your people for denouncing your religion only to bump into satan immediately after and he has no idea what is going on
when 2 guitarists play facing each other and get rly close that's gay sex
The fact that it’s basically entry level knowledge that the Beatles had circle jerks is so funny to me cause it really does just get worse after that. Like that’s not even CLOSE to being the worst thing you can know about them 😭
