By saving the Egg Boiz, Pentious clearly showed, without any trace of doubt, that he could never be Overlord material, too emotional and compassionate to belong with them. He left the chance to possibly change his reputation, so he could do the right thing and put the Egg Boiz to safety.

Leaving broke his heart, but he still did the moral thing and took his leave to do his own thing with Cherri and the turf wars, away from a place where he now knew he couldn't belong to.

Pentious has had seeds of redemption all along. That softness he had in life never left him despite everything. He just needed to find a place where his true self could be accepted in...
