Besties: When Drake and Liam Learned to Talk Tingles

If you are new to Besties, this is basically an AU where Drake and Liam are super best buds and kinda almost too involved in each others’ lives in the most adorable, naive way you can imagine. This is not canon Drake and Liam. It’s “you need a good laugh at these two” Drake and Liam.

Summary: Robin gifts Drake a book on sexual techniques to help him “up his game” with Cassie, which makes Drake anxious. She then has a heart to heart with the guys about talking about sex and intimacy.

This is the last part of Series Four, where they go to Chicago for Cassie’s birthday to see “the bears.” Contains a lot of references to this AU; check out the masterlist for Besties if you need more of these two in your life.

Pairings: Liam x Robin (oc), Drake x Cassie (oc)

Cassie sat on the hotel bed holding a flat package wrapped in shiny paper. As promised, Robin had tucked a gift for Drake into their luggage.

A gift for both of them.

She heard chomping sounds and looked up to see Drake eating a peanut butter sandwich. She had just watched him eat half a Chicago-style pizza and wondered how he was hungry. She frowned when she realized she had no idea where the sandwich came from.

Drake washed down his bite with a mini carton of milk. “Want a bite, Cassiebear?”

Cassie shook her head. “I’m full of pizza.”

“That stuff was good,” he replied before sitting next to her. He swigged his milk before nodding towards the package. “Did you find a present under your pillow?”

Cassie giggled. “No, it’s from Robin. It’s for you … well, us. She gave one to Liam, and he likes it.”

“Oooh,” Drake replied as he ran a peanut butter finger over the shiny paper. “I get a present on your birthday?”

Drake took the package and licked the smear of peanut butter off it. He stuffed the rest of his sandwich into his mouth before tearing open the package. He frowned. “A book?”

“Open it and take a look.”

Today is my best girl Burnsie’s birthday. Really? Already? Since it is your special day, I wrote you a special miniseries. Why? Because I love you. I hope you enjoy this little slice of Besties AU. I’ve been told it is bear-y funny.

If you are new to Besties, this is basically an AU where Drake and Liam are super best buds and kinda almost too involved in each others’ lives in the most adorable, naive way you can imagine. This is not canon Drake and Liam. It’s “you need a good laugh at these two” Drake and Liam.

Part 2: When Liam Helped Drake with his Troubles

Drake looked thoughtfully at his chocolate protein shake before giving it a careful sip. “Oh, Carl, you know what would make this better? Graham cracker or cookie chunks.”

Carl met his eyes as he handed Liam his vanilla shake. “If you want a milkshake, there is a diner down the block.”

“Why are you so stuck on boring flavors?” Drake said. “Not that I’m complaining – I remember when you only had plain unflavored protein shakes.”

Liam patted his leg. “I found Robin’s cookie stash. We can have some when we get home.”

Drake lowered his eyes to the counter. “It’s not the same,” he mumbled.

“Carl, maybe more flavors would be fun,” Liam said as he watched Carl lean against the countertop.

“No cookies,” Carl said.

Part 1: Whoopie! Girls’ Night

Cassie shoved her phone into her bag before glancing up the street; the Number 5 bus was down the block. She cursed under her breath as she picked up her steps in hopes of making it to the stop on time. Cassie felt a series of vibrations coming from her pocket as she frantically flagged down the bus. She groaned as she jumped on the bus. “Why can’t he go do something with Liam?” she mumbled as she swiped her bus pass. 

After paying her fare, she found a seat and started to touch up her makeup while the bus traveled eight stops before she arrived at her destination: West Station Diner. 

WSD was the current spot where the girls would get together for drinks, food, and chit chat. The boys thought it was a bus depot, which provided the perfect place for relaxing without accidental dinner guests.

Cassie looked at her phone and shook her head.

Drake: Liam said he would help me 

Drake: I accidentally watched Titanic 😭💔 

Drake: Liam will be safe. He even has an enema.

Cassie’s fingers started typing on the keyboard when a final text came in.

Drake: We got this. Have fun with the girls Cassiebear 😘😘

Her face involuntarily scrunched as she took in his message, but she shook it off. After all, how much damage could Liam do to Drake’s butt with an enema? She silenced her phone before tucking it into her bag and heading into the diner. She immediately saw Robin and Mandy chatting in their favorite booth.

2021 WIPs (as of January 2, 2021)

This post is going to cover a LOT of bases:

·         2021 WIPs Ask (thanks for the tag, @callmeellabella​! If anyone else tagged me, thanks to you also)

·         It’s inventory to take stock of and keep track of what’s in the library and will eventually make its way to a screen near you

·         A reference sheet when you cast your vote in my follower appreciation poll where you all get to choose the next four (possibly five) fics I update/write!

Recently, I was gifted the loveliest fanart (link below in “art inspiration”) by the uber generous and insanely talented @bay-lee​ inspired by my Driam fics. Which was a double-whammy surprise because I never imagined that anything I write would inspire someone to create art, or given all the incredible Driam writers in the fandom, it would be mine that caught someone’s eye.

Fellow Driam stan (and my tumblr wife) @sirbeepsalot​ then asked, “WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE KISS ABOUT TO HAPPEN??”

Happy New Years Wacky Drabble Fans!! Let’s check in with the boys this week and see what they are doing. Oh, yes. Cassie and Drake are hosting a party! This is a little hot and sloppy but, hey, it’s new years. who fucking cares bc peace out 2020.

“Ohh, try this one!” Drake said as he dunked an appetizer into spicy mustard. “Open wide, Li. Here comes the Sausage Express. Choo choo!”

“I want to put it in myself,” Liam whined as he frantically waved his arms in front of his face to block the Express.

Drake pouted his lower lip and handed the treat to Liam. “I don’t know how you can resist me. Most people do anything they can to get a bite.”

“You always put it in too hard, and I choke.”

“It’s because you try to swallow right away. You have to let it hang out a bit before really going for it.”

Liam frowned and popped the snack into his mouth. “You know I love it when you airplane my food, but it just seems wrong when it’s a wiener. Sure, if we were in public with some stranger’s wiener, I’d want to scarf it down because we have other things to do. But at home, I want to take my time. I want you to know how happy I am eating your meat.”

“Aww, Liam. Cassie doesn’t even tell me that!” Drake grabbed a fistful of puffs from the plate and stuffed them into his mouth. “Yur ma burf frun ervr.”

“Drake! You’re my best friend ever too!” Liam said as he grabbed another wiener and stuffed it into his mouth. “You know, we should get more of these. I just saw Becky and Nina show up, and I know they will be coming for our meat!”

I messaged @choiceslife when I decided to write my "Forever" series because I wanted his insider opinion. 😋

What resulted was a friendship that transcended Tumblr and became a daily trading of hot half naked men pics and an almost all day/everyday texting habit that I can't believe didn't get one of us fired. 😆

We've traded ideas, concocted plots, even shared characters. We don't talk as much as we used to, but I still consider him one of the best things that came from my time here.
