the first thought that crosses nix’s mind is ‘ how the fuck did i manage to get dragged to a goddamn barbecue of all things ’. they had people to do, outlines to sketch — if it weren’t for the male’s absurd lack of discipline and d i f f i c u l t y saying ‘ no ’ to their friends, they’d have finished FIVE stencils by now. though, had they known there was nothing to do but chat up a storm with people they weren’t familiar with, phoenix was sure to have stayed home. nevertheless, they smiled coyly at the person next to them, silently sipping on a bottle of beer. “ so — you havin’ fun ? ”
❝ ✗ ; ——— she didn’t mind a good b a r b e c u e from time to time. it couldn’t be said that chonnanee was a highly social person, but when it was an event with people she knew---why not? in addition, lately, she’s been in need of the energy that one could O N L Y get by picking flowers, grilling, and interacting with neighbors. moreover, she could always find a q u i e t spot if she needed a break; in fact, that’s what she was up to now. she sat where the s m a l l e s t amount of people was, making flower crowns, but phoenix soon i n c r e a s e d the number of folks in the antibarbecue club. she nodded, "yeah, i am," beaming over at them, she put the c r o w n she’d just finished on their head. "beautiful,” she raised her thumb with a chuckle. “what about you, are y o u having fun?" ❜
can i just say that this is already the best group i’ve ever been in & i love all of u so so much ? i have to go walk my dog & then i’ll probably go to bed, but i’ll get on & do my replies + reply to ims tomorrow !! ♡
❝ ✗ ; ——— chonnanee was standing in front of the food table, which h a p p e n e d to be a place she wanted to avoid the most. but, at a barbecue, that was a rather difficult task to complete, unless coming off as W E I R D was her intention. she could only use the ‘i just ate’ excuse for so long before she forced herself to fill up her plate with a few s m a l l pieces of fruits and vegetables. once that was done, she glanced around for a place to sit, but saw something---or someone---else instead. a s m i l e appeared on her face; it was kangmin, just standing and chilling nearby. a PLATE in one hand and a T A L L glass of water in the other, she ran to him and jokingly kneed his butt. <>"you know---doing this was much easier when you actually had a booty." ❜ // @yoon-kangmin
It’s not that the lanky male didn’t find a purpose in attending barbecues or social events. It’s not even that he hated large crowds. But attending this party seemed to be something Kwangsu was struggling with. He had a pile of essay exams that needed to be graded by the end of the weekend. He had his own research paper to finish, a task he’d neglected too long. Even though, he felt obligated to at least show up for a few minutes, if not to show his face and enjoy a drink or two. He didn’t have to stay the whole time right? As he reached the table with food set up, he glanced it over. “They certainly made enough food for everyone,” he mumbled to himself, picking up a plate and shoveling chilled kimchi onto it. “Now…beer, where’s the beer?”
❝ ✗ ; ——— chonnanee came to have a good time, but she would be lying if she said she h o n e s t l y wasn’t feeling so attacked right now, seeing a t a l l figure from a distance. it was a person she’d recognize anywhere, anytime, even after all the time they haven’t seen each other. she F R O Z E in the spot for a moment and forgot how to breathe; what was he doing there? was he one of her neighbors now? h o w could she possibly miss that? after the little while she spent standing there with her mouth s l i g h t l y opened, she quickly turned around and began to put pieces of fresh fruit on her plate as soon as she NOTICED him approaching the table, for some reason hoping she could avoid him. however, it didn’t seem like he noticed her, and suddenly, she wanted him to. the shorter ginger haired girl fixed her shiny dark eyes on him, biting down on her lower lip; should she talk to him or not? perhaps she was just overthinking as per usual, but in her head, also as per usual, she wasn’t. without even thinking it through, she coughed to get his A T T E N T I O N, and surprised even herself with that unexpected action. "hello," a coy smile crept in as she w a v e d at him. ❜
DARK BROWN CURLS, adorned with flowers, fell over her shoulder as she walked through the field with a tray of cold lemonade in her hands. when she’d found out that there was a heatwave and a barbecue had been set up by her neighbors, hana had quickly prepared her mother’s recipe for the cold drink that always filled her brain with good memories. why not share a good experience with everyone and not just yourself, right? smiling to those that caught her eye, she held out a hand offering a glass of lemonade to each person she passed. “excuse me?” she said, voice soft as she tried to get the attention of the person standing in front of her. it had gotten busy quite quickly with familiar faces she often saw everyday but there was something ideal about the business, it made her feel like she was standing with her family. “would you like some lemonade? it’s cold and it should help with the heat, i promise.”
❝ ✗ ; ———- there was no better way to spend a hot s u m m e r day than at a barbecue with neighbors. pastel colored butterflies were F L Y I N G around all the plants in the garden and sitting on the people present, a smile on e a c h face, everyone laughing and making a small talk. one even sat on chonnanee’s b r a i d e d ginger hair as she pulled her phone out of the pocket of her B R I G H T, yellow skirt that couldn’t be overlooked and made her way over to the flowers, beginning to pictures of her FAVORITE mugunghwas. she was j u s t about to pick a few and make a flower crown when she heard a voice---and it happened to be the voice of the person she was closest to. she turned to the girl, a wide, b r i g h t smile crossing her rosy cheeks. "thank you," she nodded, taking one from the tray, feeling an u n d e n i a b l e kind of satisfaction when her fingers wrapped around the i c e c o l d glass. "jesus, that’s cold; you’re a lifesaver," she breathed out, letting out a chuckle before taking a sip. “so, are you having a good time?” ❜

P E R S O N A L I T Y;
—— growing up, she was on the more quieter side. that’s the one thing that bothered her the most. she wanted to talk to her classmates and be ‘normal’, but it just didn’t work and she always ended up embarrassing herself. she wouldn’t even greet the neighbors as a child—she just hid behind her dad’s back. however, this has improved over the years. these days, she’s actually quite energetic, bubbly and extroverted; or, at least she tries to be on the outside, because that’s what people expect from her. she just tries her best to have the positive mindset everybody likes at all times.
—— Queen of Dad Jokes™
—— she doesn’t show it much, but she’s thoughtful and smart. those long, deep conversations where she gets to share her opinions and thoughts are her favorite thing in the world. she has a lot of them; she can lie in bed and think about everything from the universe to whether or not animals can get songs stuck in their head.
—— as for her self esteem, when talking to her, it’d never occur to you how low it really is. she acts confidently, has no apparent problem talking to strangers, even hits on them when she’s sitting at the bar, but deep down, she hates nearly everything about herself, from her outer appearance to her personality.
—— she can say absolutely horrible things she doesn’t mean when she’s mad. she’s the kind of a person who’ll use anything against you just to win an argument, even secrets or stuff she knows will hurt you, because that’s the point.
—— she’s manipulative and gets indignant and offended when things don’t go her way. when they don’t, she’ll do anything to turn it around.
—— she can’t stay long in any commitment. she quit her last job after just a few months because she gets bored so easily with everything in her life. she can’t even stand looking the same for more than five months. she always has to be changing something; her hairstyle, hair color, eye color, fashion taste, ..
—— she’s still awkward, just not as much as she used to be. now, she can even use it to her advantage and make it a joke
—— she’s possessive, paranoid and overemotional.
—— she has all these flaws, but she’s a good person
—— she really cares about anyone around her, no matter if she knows them or not. when she sees someone crying, even though she’s scared of coming off as creepy or pushy, she’ll risk it to make sure the person is okay
—— she loves long, warm hugs
—— she can be funny. sometimes
H O B B I E S;
—— there are so many things she enjoys doing, but her favorites are;
—— dancing. dancing has become her escape after she’s moved to korea.
—— drawing. for her, it’s an amazing way to free her imagination and express her emotions. it temporarily gets rid of her anxiety, too.
—— reading. she loves watching movies, but she loves books more. again, it’s a great escape. when she’s reading, it’s like she’s in a whole different universe.
—— music. of course. who doesn’t love music? she doesn’t understand how there are people out there who only go on youtube sometimes. the tab is always open in her browser, and when she’s not home, she always has her headphones with her.
B A C K S T O R Y;
—— in bangkok, thailand, born and raised, on the playground was where she spent most of her days.
—— overall, her childhood was pretty chill. or, at least it was the best part of her life. she’s spent most of her time with her grandparents and parents; they all lived together so they could afford the rent.
—— although her parents aren’t really her parents, she’s never referred to them as anything else. her biological dad passed away before she was born. when she was two years old, she was taken away from her mom because she was an abusive drug addict who couldn’t care less about taking care of her daughter the way she was supposed to. atchara doesn’t remember it, but it’s the reason she hates drugs.
—— her dad’s brother and his boyfriend took her under their wings and for a while, all was well. she took drawing classes every now and then, had a few close friends, went grocery shopping with her grandparents every afternoon and every evening, she spent some time with her parents after they’ve gotten back from work.
—— everything started going downhill for her when she was 7 years old. her parents moved to south korea and she had to leave her grandparents and all her friends behind. her uncle dad had to move because of his job, so they didn’t have any other option.
—— she didn’t like being in korea. she didn’t fit in and wanted to go back to bangkok, but both her dads told her to just give it a little time.
—— she started getting bullied in school pretty quickly, for pretty much everything, from her weight and broken korean to her quiet nature. she felt completely alone. she only had a few friends in the school; all her good friends were in bangkok and so were her beloved grandparents. she didn’t want to bother her busy parents and the principal didn’t believe her when she said she was being teased.
—— that’s when she began to develop an unhealthy body image. even though she started losing weight, she still thought she looked the same. once the number on the scale started going down, she was horrified of ever seeing it go up again and did everything in her power, from eating only vegetables to dancing for ten hours a day and jogging for the rest of the day, to prevent that.
—— though, it didn’t take a lot for her parents to notice her drastic weight loss and different eating habits, so they signed her up for dance classes in hopes it’d give her something else to focus on. it worked.for a while, she was happy enough to not care about her weight and even gained most of it back. of course, it didn’t last long.
—— that’s how she got through the bullying, too. by having something else to focus her energy on. things got better in high school; people accepted her and she made some really close friendships in the class. that was when she really started to open up.
—— after she graduated, she convinced her parents to let her to back to thailand for a while. she stayed for five months and was genuinely happy there. she even gained most of the weight she’s lost back and almost didn’t care about what she looked like, but eventually, she had to go back to korea to her parents and start looking for a job.
—— a few months after getting back, her grandpa passed away and she’s quickly lost all the weight again, although it was more of a depression thing this time.
—— after a while, she ended up finding a job at the local store, but she eventually quit & here she is now.
