Zoey calming Mira down :33 *insert what made her mad in the first place*
I forgot to post this here whoops 😅
Thanks to @/Woke_Moth from twt I got the idea in the first place but it took me so long that I didn't finish my other wips that could take 1 or 2 hours lol
I am not animating again any time soon maybe idk especially colored animation nopeee
I saw a post the other day about Celine feeling self-conscious about aging and, for some reason, my brain decided it merited...[checks word count] 1700 WORDS?!?
Inspiration is a mysterious thing...and fickle :/
Anyway, fic below the break!
Celine had been expecting something like this. It was as much an annual event as the Idol Awards or Chuseok, and as the 'x's on her calendar crept towards that dreaded date she'd kept a wary eye out for signs that the usual negotiations were about to start up.
Texts from Rumi asking to 'just talk,' memes from Zoey of sad-eyed dogs and pitiable kittens (and a beseeching bullfrog that was surprisingly moving), Mira loitering outside her office waiting to pounce with a "look we love you why won't you just let us" that was more compelling then the frog; by this point she knew every one of their tactics and was prepared to meet every one with counterproposals of her own.
She was an expert negotiator, and in this matter particularly she had the unquestioned upper hand (the one benefit of the day); as such the girls always backed down from their grand schemes and settled for her far more modest, run-of-the-mill requests.
So when the three of them marched into her office with the air of Hunters heading into the fray, even though it was a departure from the usual dance, she was ready.
"No."
It was impressive, how all their faces fell in perfect sync.
"Wha- we didn't even start yet!" Rumi sputtered, recovering herself with admirable aplomb.
Celine turned back to her computer, fingers clacking away at an email. "I'm well aware what time of year it is, Rumi-ya; you don't need to 'start' for me to know what you're all about to ask. The answer is 'no.'"
"Told you she'd say that," Mira huffed, flopping into a chair and making herself comfortable, conceding the battle but settling in for the war.
"Can't you just hear us out?" Zoey zipped over to stand at Celine's side, leaning on the arm of her desk chair. Craning her neck to catch Celine's eye, she did her absolute best aegyo face. "Pleeeeeease?"
Celine kept her eyes on her monitor (she was a strong woman, but...she was also human). "It would be a waste of time for all of us. You three are going to propose renting someplace out for a party-"
"Just a little one." Rumi held up her thumb and forefinger, a centimeter of space between them.
Celine raised a brow at Rumi. "We both know it won't be."
Rumi opened her mouth to protest, then shut it at Mira's foot kicking her shin. "Well, I can't help it if she's popular," she muttered, rubbing her leg.
Celine decided to tackle one fallacy at a time. "I'm going to say absolutely not, then you're going to agree to a quiet dinner at home. Like we do every year."
"But it's not every year!" Zoey insisted. "It's your fiftieth birthday!"
Celine grimaced as she put the finishing touch on the email, then dragged over a file to attach it. "Don't remind me."
Fifty. Five decades. Halfway to a century. In every phrasing: old.
She suppose she should consider herself fortunate; a Hunter's lot was a fraught one; in all truth, she should have died several times over. Those years of being the sole Hunter had not been easy or kind, as the scars under her sleeves and the various aches in joints that had never healed right could attest. But she had a Honmoon to protect and- more importantly- a daughter to get home to. Dying was not an option.
So she grew old. The privilege Miyeong and Sihyeon were denied. A better path, but...not a smooth or pleasant one.
The virtual lock sensor on her computer activated, screen going dark so her reflection replaced her inbox. She didn't have to search to find the creases in the corners of her eyes, or the lines life plowed around her mouth; it had been years since she stopped dying out the dusty gray streaking her hair.
While there were still enough echoes of the face that had carried albums to platinum and retail partners to the black to mark her as Kang Celine, there was no denying that she looked old. A costume where only a smattering of sequins remained; a song that was worn thin after decades of airplay.
And while she and vanity were not acquaintances, it was...not pleasant, to accept that she was no longer desirable (old things never were). Or sexy.
She had liked being sexy.
An event commemorating the grim date where everyone acted like a dimming star was worth celebrating was the height of irony; essentially, a protracted performance of pleasantries no one actually means (and she heard enough of those on a daily basis).
Unfortunately, the girls felt differently.
"You do special stuff for our birthdays." Rumi, who just had celebrated a milestone birthday of her own that was akin to a national holiday, hopped up to sit on the desk. "We just want to return the favor."
"That's different," Celine said. "Twenty-five is worth celebrating; fifty is not."
Mira clicked her tongue. "Looks like someone's self-conscious about their age..."
"I am not." Celine answered quick enough that Mira smirked. Realizing her mistake, she cleared her throat and threw on her best everything-is-fine smile. "I'm simply aware of what is and isn't worth celebrating. "
"Celine..." Rumi scooched forward on the desk- mindful of photo frames and pen holders- to grab Celine's hand. "We're celebrating you, how you made it through another year, and how happy we all are that you did." Her face melted into a smile, the one Celine never could say 'no' to. "Isn't that worth celebrating?"
Celine woke up her computer and pulled up an earnings report (dry material that she'd already given her stamp of approval to, but she was trying to avoid a party, not helplessly agree to one). "Rumi-ya, while I appreciate the sentiment, it's just....not appropriate."
"It's a party," Mira deadpanned. "Not a strip tease."
"And like a strip tease, celebrating her birthday is not something people want to see a woman in her fifties doing," Celine said breezily. "You can ask anyone."
Zoey raised her hand; Rumi nearly fell of the desk trying to shove it back down; Mira chuckled when Zoey tried again and Rumi did fall of the desk; Celine did not let it go to her head since Zoey's joy was to bring happiness to others and she wasn't above stretching the truth to do it.
Instead she folded her hands and smiled gratefully, but firmly, pointedly ignoring the tussle Rumi and Zoey were now embroiled in. "So girls, thank you, but I have to say-"
"Got it!" Zoey wriggled away from Rumi and whipped out her phone. Celine...did not like the way she was smiling. "Let's put this one to the people!"
Celine caught a glimpse of Zoey's phone screen. Twitter. Oh no. "Zoey..."
"Relax!" Zoey waved away Celine's worry, typing one-handed. "I'm not starting a scandal. Here, I'll even read it to you: 'Hey Hunters!'" she read. "'Who here thinks Kang Celine at fifty is as smokin' hot as ever?' Then I have, like, seven fire emojis and a picture from that event last month when you were sleeveless."
"Nice," Mira nodded approvingly as Rumi choked and protested that "this wasn't part of the plan!" "That's a hot one."
Frankly, Celine did not think there was anything hot about how she'd looked in that dress, which she'd really only worn as a favor to a designer friend in need of publicity, but she had bigger concerns. "Zoey, that's not appropriate-"
"You're right," Zoey nodded. She flicked her gaze to Celine, then back to her phone, tapping the screen like a starving woodpecker. "You need at least ten fire emojis."
That was very much not what she meant but before she could say so Zoey tapped her screen with a final flourish.
"Posted!" Grinning triumphantly, Zoey set her phone down on the desk and folded her arms. "And now we wait. My Spidey-senses say we have approximately thirty seconds before the thirst posts start rolling in."
Rumi groaned as she stood, but it was a testament to how much she wanted this party that she didn't leave or make some comment or other about keeping those posts far away from her; it was clear she viewed trawling for admirers as a necessary evil. Celine rubbed her temples. "Zoey, you realize people are just going to be polite-"
Like a lit firecracker, Zoey's phone started bursting with notifications. Snatching it up, she scrolled through her feed, grin widening. "Oh, really?" She thrust it at Celine. An endless feed of responses, each one more...effusive then the last greeted her. Some calling her their 'forever bias,' others proclaiming that she actually looked sexier with silver streaked hair and hoping they aged as hot as she did, and still others...not something she could read aloud on broadcast television.
Mira snorted as she thumbed through the replies to Zoey's post on her own phone. "Yeah, these are really polite." She glanced at Rumi, shoulders pulled up to her ears and looking like a very pouty pop princess. "You're gonna wanna block Zoey for the weekend."
"OH WOW!!!" Celine pulled away with a wince at Zoey's shout. She bounced on her toes as she looked at the feed over Celine's shoulders. "THERE'S A SAENGIL CAFE FOR CELINE POPPING UP DOWNTOWN!!! And they're gonna have keychains!!!"
"Please tell me you're not going..." Rumi groaned, pressing the heels of her palms into her eyes (this plan was working too well...).
Zoey puffed up her chest. "I am an SLS stan first and everything else second, and I need Celine to dangle from my keys."
Rumi groaned louder. "Never say that sentence again."
"It's a good sentence," Mira, for whom Rumi-baiting was a competitive sport, contributed from her chair.
"It is not!"
Leaving the girls to bicker about what constituted acceptable arrangements of words, Celine continued to scroll through the feed. A pleasant heat started to tingle up her neck, the old fluttering pleasure from her younger days of being undeniably hot swelling in her chest. She'd had enough experience with the media over the years to tell 'genuine' from 'fake,' and these...
She paused at an all-caps declaration of how she had apparently turned someone feral.
Theres a whispering that eventually reaches Rumi’s ears. It leads her to a locked door in the most dusty—forgotten about corner of the cellar underneath the castle.
The voice claims to be like her and becomes the only one Rumi can confined in about her daedra bits. Eventually the voice tells her to come inside the door, but its locked. The key? On Mi-yeong’s person at all waking hours. Teenage Rumi swipes the key from her mother without getting caught.
Behind the door Rumi finds a practically empty room—only a table with a dark metal sword displayed atop it. Recalling her lessons with Celine, Rumi identifies it as ebony.
Curious, she reaches out to touch the sword but a shimmering light on the table reveals a writ of sealing: cryptically detailing the possible dangers of this weapon and why it had to be sealed away.
Despite the warnings on the note Rumi still picks up the blade. Its cool to the touch yet it feels alive. She swings it around a few times—feels minute pulses of the blade in her hand synching with her heart. The constant warmth of her chest easing for the first time in her life.
And so Rumi continued to return to the cellar and practice her swordsmanship with the ebony blade. The whispering voice encouraging her progress the whole time.
Each time Rumi heard the whispers behind the door she felt an itch to go check on the blade. This meant taking the key from Mi-yeong. Swiping the key had always been the easy part, putting it back was where the challenge lay.
When Rumi first started sneaking behind the whispering door, she’d always manage to slip the key back onto her mother’s person by the end of the day. However, in the almost two years that had passed since her initial discovery she had grown complacent.
“It’s gone! Celine the key is missing!”
Her mother’s panicked words were equivalent to that of a bucket of ice water being dumped upon her head. Rumi had forgotten to return the key the previous night. She had never once heard her mother acknowledge the keyring one time—not once. The fact that Miyeong had noticed her one and only slip up immediately and now Celine knew too is horrifying for Rumi. The magical writ of warning that had “protected” the ebony blade flashed into Rumi’s mind in that moment as well.
To anyone reading this: BEWARE THIS BLADE.
It has corrupted and perverted the desires of great men and women. Yet its power is without equal: to kill while your victim smiles at you.
It is not to be trifled with. Not even the hottest fires of the Skyforge could melt it; indeed, the coals themselves seemed to cool when it was placed within.
We cannot destroy it, and we would not have it fall into the hands of our enemies. So we keep it hidden, never to be used.
Woe be to any who choose to take it.
“Quick check the door, quickly Celine!” Mi-yeong whisper-yelled at her housecarl wife while she herself stumbled after her.
Rumi couldn’t return the key now! What would she even say? ‘Hello mother, heres the key to that old secret door, I took the key off you yesterday and forgot to return it.’ Stupid, stupid- she should have stopped visiting that dumb cellar long ago! But swinging that darkened blade made her breathing easier, it made her thoughts calm. It quenched the daedra heart that always burned too hot for her to contain.
“It’s locked but we need to locate that key. We’ll post guards day in and day out.” Celine confirms.
“Good, no one will get down there without us knowing.”
Rumi is daughter to Mi-yeong and a daedra making her half daedra (she has a daedra heart, can manifest horns (more of a thing she does as a baby) and has burn patterns extending out from her heart that slowly grow and wrap around her body as she gets older).
Mi-yeong is the court mage of Whiterun and her housecarl is Celine (“I am your sword and shield”). Both do everything they can to keep Rumi’s daedra heritage a secret or else the Vigil of Stendar will come (iykyk).
Thirdlight replaces Alva of the companions. This makes her a werewolf and she joins Mi-yeong’s and Celine’s relationship before Rumi is born—giving the half daedra three guardians (a mage, a warrior, and a werewolf)
Rumi grows up in Dragonsreach keeping her patterns covered. She shadows her mother around the castle and doesn’t play too often with the Jarl’s own kids—she was told to be careful at all time by all three of her parents.
She gets to see, and sometimes meet the nobles who visit. This includes powerful clans like the Black-Briar family from Riften—who have a pink haired daughter about Rumi’s age.
While little Rumi got to meet a lot of upper-class folk, she liked the locals more. She the got to help the farmers unload their deliveries from just outside the walls of Whiterun. She’d run trinkets down to the blacksmith and be fascinated by how they could work the metal. Sometimes when Mi-yeong was short on specific alchemy ingredients, Rumi would accompany her down to the local apothecary. Mi-yeong let her rummage around the non-toxic ingredients and they’d stop to smell every flower in the store.
Thirdlight helped hone Rumi’s sword fighting skills in the practice area by the Companions’ Longhouse. Wooden swords and straw dummies limited Rumi until she grew a bit older. Once she could wield an iron sword Celine took her down to the blacksmith and they watched her first sword get forged.
One of those local farmers had a daughter a year or so younger than Rumi. She was smaller and much scruffier than the Jarl’s kids Rumi was was used to. But that didn’t stop her from working as hard as her little body could.
Rumi and Zoey got to see each other grow up with every delivery the farmers made. Zoey grew up a little but Rumi grew up a lot. She grew to be much taller and broad-shouldered than when the two first met as children. Rumi gains a soft spot for Zoey. There was just something about the younger that made Rumi want to be around her whenever she could.
Rumi’s parents could only smile knowingly at their child’s innocent budding young love. Mi-yeong quite liked Zoey, but she worried about her daughter’s safety more. Mi-yeong, Celine, and Third all encouraged Rumi to have fun with Zoey but to keep her secret safe all the same. No one could know Rumi was a half daedra, for her own safety.
There was once a day both the Black-Briars and Zoey were up at Dragonsreach for business. Rumi got to introduce Mira to Zoey. They played in the kitchen until the staff kicked them out. Then they went into the rafters above the throne room. Once they were kicked out of there too they went outside, where they proceeded to exhaust themselves running wild around the upper-city. Mira admits to never having had this much fun before meeting the two of them. Blushing ensues.
Self explanitory, same as cannon but worse because all her moms are alive and they’re all telling her to hide herself. Problem number two and three: the cute girls she can’t get out of her head, her castle, or her dreams. And finally, problem number four. Her secret— no, not that one, a new one. The one in the basement.
Zoey: Dragonborn
Split parents; abusive and controlling father, deadbeat mother. Maybe a jab step towards the Companions if you squint. Just wants to make everyone happy and prove she’s not a burden. Wait whats that dark shadow flying over head? Duck? No, thats clearly a drago—
Mira: Black-Briar
Youngest daughter of one of the most powerful and influential clans in Skyrim. She visits Whiterun often for business purposes. Stoic face but wild thoughts running through her head. She also might be batman and have the funds, connections, and literally anything else the trio might need for their adventures.
I hate when my mind just goes full no thoughts, head empty. Anyways, here's a superman au
Celine and Mi‑yeong were children of Krypton, never meant to cross paths, never meant to love each other, and yet they did. They tied their lives together against their families’ wishes and left their world behind to chase the stars. Somewhere out there, between constellations, they welcomed their daughter. They laughed, they cried, they lived. They built a home they could only dream of on Krypton.
But Krypton was gone. Devoured by greed and shortsightedness. Rumi would never know her ancestral planet. She would always be a tree without roots.
A small price for the survival of her and her mothers.
But space is a dark place. Their ship was attacked, and even though they had fought pirates before and won, the damage was too much. Celine set a course for a planet with a yellow sun, but it did not matter. Mi‑yeong’s last breath came too soon.
Grief swallowed everything. Their home was gone, her beloved was gone. Celine carried Rumi to Earth, settled on this strange planet full of strange beings, and tried to build a quiet life. Rumi went to school and even though human knowledge could not compare to Kryptonian, she found an energetic friend who brought something new into their lives. Or maybe something they had forgotten.
Years passed. High school faded. Rumi joined Celine in her workshop while studying aerospace engineering. Zoey chose music. Their paths drifted apart but their bond only grew stronger. Celine liked this peaceful life and even though a part of her died with Mi‑yeong, she felt alive.
Until Rumi, her mother’s daughter, decided she wanted to help those who could not protect themselves. Celine tried to stop her, but when she realized Rumi would do it anyway, she chose to help. At least she could keep her child safe.
Zoey helped however she could, and Celine was endlessly grateful. The problem began when Kang Mira arrived, daughter of a family with far too many skeletons in their closets. Suddenly both Rumi and Zoey lost every grain of common sense. Was Celine just as foolish when she fell for Mi‑yeong? Maybe, with Min‑ji Song stepping into her life, she will remember those long‑buried feelings. Maybe her heart will beat again.
Thinking of Celine who grows older by the years, grey hairs are more prominent and gets slower. Rumi who had known Celine to be strong and quick. Not to mention being the solo hunter after Miyeong and thirdlight are gone, the most feared hunter to the demons.
Celine's body who had to take so many injuries to fight demons. Making sure the company is strong for Rumi and her girls to be comfortable being an idol. Pushing herself to the limit ever since Rumi was a wailing baby.
Post movie and it took her entire strength to be brave and call Rumi. Her calls and voicemails get ignored, but doesnt mean she'll give up. However, time passes quickly (months to nearly a year) and in a blink of an eye, Celine has started to use a cane bcs her personal assistant was insistent when she saw how Celine looks close to falling during a meeting. Still to this day, her calls get ignored. She wants to make amends for failing her daughter ward before it's too late.
Mira was the one who reached out first. Though it took time to think things through, Mira knows where Celine is coming from. When Mira visits Celine in the company office, she sees how.. old... Celine is. Celine was surprised seeing her but she's not going to complain. They talked awkwardly at first before they both become comfortable. When Celine gets up, Mira is shocked to see her using a cane. When prompted, Celine sighs tiredly and mentioning she's getting old. Her body isnt what it used to be. Quietly, she mentions she doesnt know how long she has left.
Mira promises Celine she'll try to get Rumi to talk to her. She'll drag Zoey in it too. Bcs both Celine and Rumi shouldnt leave anything unresolved. Mira knows Rumi will blame herself for ignoring Celine's attempt.
Mmmmm tasty,, Rumi who is so stubborn, refusing to listen to Mira who is telling a cold, hard truth. Slipping on the mask she wore back when she was still hiding her patterns. Mira has a lot of work to do and this time, she's not going to let Rumi off so easily this time. At least she got Zoey.
The next day, Celine had just finished her meeting. She is massaging her knee when she hears a knock on the door. Zoey comes in with barely contained tears. Celine looks at her worriedly, "Zoey?"
The moment Zoey sees Celine who looks older than she should and a cane learning against the side of the table, she burst into tears. Celine hurriedly gets up, ignoring her aching knee and comforts Zoey. Which makes her even more inconsolable.
"What's wrong?" Celine asked as she comforts Zoey how she used to when she was recruited pre-Huntrix, especially after she couldn't visit her dad for the holiday because of a snowstorm. It took Zoey a moment to finally gather herself and told Celine of last night event. How Mira told Rumi she's using a cane and what it entails. Celine was quiet because of course. Mira had bluntly told her she's going to get Rumi to talk to her with a firm promise.
Before Celine gets to reply, Mira walks in. Not looking surprised at all seeing Zoey in the office. They talked for a moment before Celine had to get up and finish her work. It was jarring for Mira and Zoey to see her struggling to stand up and moving slow. Celine waves them off when they offered to help her, saying she can still manage it. She's not that weak.
As Celine is working on her computer, Mira and Zoey talk to each other. Planning how to get Rumi to talk to Celine. Zoey in her way has 365 plans that they can do, or maybe 367 plans if all else fail. Mira rolls her eyes affectionately. As much as Celine wanted to know Rumi's reaction of Mira telling Rumi about her condition, she's terrified. So, she pushes that thought aside and lets the duo conversation fill the office.
Rumi was conceived bc one day in 2001 Mi-Young and Celine had a 3-way with Rumi's dad while too high on ecstasy to remember condoms exist and it's why Mira and Zoey aren't allowed to do anything stronger than a few edibles
Celine was taking a walk with a 4 year old Rumi. Little Rumi was really happy that CeCe got her a teddy bear from their visit to the teddy bear museum.
As they were walking, a tear appears and Celine pulls Rumi to hide behind a bush. Telling her to hide and to keep quiet. Demonic growls escalate and Celine rushes towards the tear. Rumi clutches her teddy bear and quietly whimpers when she hears more growls. The honmoon glows slightly, indicating Celine had summoned her swords. Not a moment after snaps of bones is heard. Demons shriek as a massive creature tears through the hoard, unexpectedly bigger than Celine had realized.
As Rumi is hugging her teddy bear tightly, she sees a pair of glowing yellow eyes staring at her. A wicked smile graces the demon's face.
Little Rumi screams. Hearing it, Celine snaps and mercilessly fought her way back to Rumi. Blood coating her fur and maw. No demons can stop a raging wolf from getting to her pup.
Before the demon can grab Rumi, a massive clawed hand skewers it. It gets lifted up and thrown against the tree. With rage in her vein, Celine tears the demon apart with her fangs, tipping it apart until it's unrecongnizable.
Breathing heavily, Celine hears Rumi whimpering and lumbers towards her. However, the moment Rumi sees her, she flinches and screams. Celine (and the wolf) are shocked as Rumi crawls back and tries to get away from her. She screams for Celine and sobs. Celine tried to reach out but the young girl is terrified of this big scary monster. Celine whimpers and seeing no other choice, she left Rumi for a bit to shift back.
The moment Rumi sees Celine in her human form, she reaches out, sobbing for CeCe to hold her. Celine calms the little girl down. Little Rumi tells her the monster is scary. Celine went quiet for a moment before she wipes Rumi's tears, promising she wouldn't have to worry about the monster anymore.
Since that day, Celine had stopped shifting. Keeping her promise to the little girl, despite the itchiness under her skin to let the wolf out. Reminding herself that she's doing this for Rumi.
Rumi doesn't consciously remember the incident. But the giant, monstrous wolf haunts her dreams. When she was little, she just has nightmares.
But as she starts learning to fight demons, it gradually shifts: she becomes convinced that somewhere, there is a demon that looks like a giant wolf.
She doesn't remember, exactly, when she first saw it. She just knows it was terrifying. Every time she faces demons, now, she's watching for the demon wolf.
It's the worst demon, the scariest demon.
And one day, she vows to herself, she will kill it.
Makes her seeing the werewolf again shocking. That fear when she sees clawmarks and the hanok thrashed. The massive, growling "demon" in front of them, with worst thought popping into her head when she sees pieces of Celine's shirt clinging to it.
These two fighting until Rumi gets knocked out and would be killed if it werent for the bell chiming in the distance. The realization that the "demon" wolf is actually Celine.
Do you think Mira stays awake at night thinking about how Rumi said "Zoey please" instead of 'Mira please' or even 'girls please' and how its because she is too aggressive, emotional or undeserving because Rumi didn't even think it was worth it to beg to her, because Rumi knew it was pointless already :)
Let's play with gumiho Celine. Since I wanted a friends to lovers (?) to enemies polylight (mainly involve Miyeong being shunned by Celine and thirdlight bcs I think it'll be fun). Im just going to put write them in bullet points.
Celine tells Miyeong and thirdlight that she's a gumiho.
The elders know and they are sworn to not instigate nor hurt any gumiho.
Something something first gen hunters were aided by a gumiho something something.
Celine trusts Miyeong and thirdlight, tells them to follow her to meet her family.
They're at Celine's home and meet with her eomma and appa, also her rowdy siblings.
The kits play with them and thirdlight is very fond of them (she is an orphan). The kits made her a bracelet.
In the privacy of the gumihos abode, mama fox makes Miyeong and thirdlight sworn to secrecy.
Warning that only they know of their home and seeing Celine had trusted them, theyre willing to extend that trust too. Especially when their eldest daughter is very happy being with them.
Sworn under the full moon light and the world song (hoonmoon).
Should this secret gets out, there will be a massive consequences.
Miyeong and thirdlight understand the gravity of this secret, made their promise.
Years past and Miyeong has her secret demon boyfriend. She didnt say anything to Celine and thirdlight.
Miyeong hears his story after months of deflecting and tells him about the gumiho sanctuary in return since it's her biggest secret.
The trio returned to the hanok for their hiatus before Celine suddenly gets up. Her gumiho form in full display, looking distressed
Before either girls and their mentors manage to ask her, she runs off towards the forest. Where her home was.
Miyeong and thirdlight follow her.
Then they hear wailing. The honmoon's thread is ominous.
When they arrived, they see bloodshed.
Celine cradles her very weak eomma, begging her to stay. Thirdlight heads into the gumiho home and it was a sight she will never forget.
Mama fox gurgles blood and eyes Miyeong. She slowly lifts up her hand and accuses her of breaking the promise.
Celine was too shocked over the accusation bcs there is no way Miyeong would-
Miyeong realizes what she had done.
With her remaining strength, mama fox cradles her daughter's face and reminding her that the moon will always watch over her.
Mama fox dies.
Celine sobs as Miyeong is frozen in place.
Shaking her head, Miyeong wants to comfort Celine bcs she has never heard her sound so broken.
As she reaches out, Celine hisses if it's true. That she told someone about her home.
Miyeong stammers and steps back when Celine snaps her head towards Miyeong, in rage and despair.
Celine asks again, if she has told anyone about her home. Miyeong quietly confirms that yes, she did.
Thirdlight hearing all of this, leaps and blocks Celine's claws. Celine cant hear anything but the howling rage and despair in her soul. Her anger of wanting to tear Miyeong apart.
Thirdlight tells Miyeong to run and to meet at the hanok. Miyeong was about to fight back before thirdlight essentially forcefully pushes her back.
It was an hour before thirdlight returns to the hanok with a very worried Miyeong and the elders.
Thirdlight slumps on the couch with a weight on her shoulders. One of the elder asks where's Celine.
Thirdlight tells them Celine wouldnt be coming back. She doesnt want to see Miyeong ever again. Essentially done being a hunter and idol.
The elders are worried over this outcome. As such, they tell these two bluntly that they have to do it as a duo to ensure the honmoon remains strong.
When Miyeong and thirdlight returns home, minus Celine, there is a palpable tension.
Thirdlight didnt want to confront Miyeong in front of the elders. Besides, she still intends to keep her promise.
Thirdlight demands Miyeong to tell the truth. Who did she tell the secret to?
It took days/weeks before Miyeong relents and tells her of her secret relationship.
Knowing that her demon partner is one of Gwi-ma's, no wonder thirdlight is very angry.
Miyeong defends him that he's different and he wouldnt do that.
Thirdlight tells her to asks him, and if he lies that he didnt tell anyone-
Thirdlight was out when Miyeong's demon partner comes to visit her once again.
After being confronted, Miyeong tells him if he had told anyone of the secret she told him of the gumiho. He says no.
She was quiet and before she was about to say anything, thirdlight arrives home and sees the demon. She summons her axe and rushes forward.
Miyeong manages to intercept her, that he's her partner. Thirdlight yells at her.
Thirdlight in her anger, accuses her for being weak, giving her trust and the secret to someone who she only knew for less than a year.
The demon eventually admits he had told Gwi-ma of the gumihos sanctuary in exchange of letting him stay above ground longer to be with Miyeong.
Miyeong feels conflicted.
However, this makes thirdlight very VERY angry. She rightfully tears into him by saying did he know, he had killed an entire family for his selfish request. That he had broken the very bond tht makes sure the world wouldnt be doomed.
Thirdlight yells with angry tears in her eyes as she tell them what she has seen in Celine's home. The kits, lifeless. Papa fox, dead, surrounded by dead demons. The blood. The sight. The smell. The wailing sound from Celine. It's something she could never forget.
Thirdlight whispers, more specifically to Miyeong. Was it worth it?
Thirdlight stops her advances. With a cold and devoid of emotion, she doesnt look at either of the couple. She'll be leaving.
Like Celine, she cant be near Miyeong.
Miyeong begs and holds onto thirdlight's arm. That she'll make amends.
What amends? The gumihos are dead. Celine hates them. All seems. Lost.
Thirdlight pulls her arm away and heads into her room. Locking the door.
The next day, Miyeong wakes up alone in SLS home and sees a note on the kitchen counter. She rushes into thirdlight's room and sees her essential basically packed.
Miyeong cries alone in the living room, devoid of life. Her demon partner tries to comfort her, to no avail. The elders attempt to reach out is ignored.
Thirdlight at least lets herself take the downfall for SLS disbandment. The only thing she's willing to do before she disappears.
Since then, Miyeong hadnt heard from either Celine nor thirdlight for years.
Thirdlight taking the blame helped a bit with Miyeong's solo debut.
There are still controversies and hate towards either of the three.
As much as Miyeong doesnt want to continue, she has to pick up the responsibility. Especially bcs she's the catalyst this happened.
The elders helped as much and as best as they can until Miyeong finds new hunters.
The honmoon remains as steadfast as ever despite its strength waning eversince the other two left and losing the fans harmony.
The elders are disappointed by whatever promise Miyeong had broke after her breaking down the day after thirdlight left.
The one elder tries to call out to Celone but theres nothing. She was Celine's favourite mentor.
Miyeong visits the hanok and perhaps, tried to find Celine. The elders warned her not to go but she's nothing but stubbornly guilt-ridden.
The moment she's out of the compound's barrier, her demon partner appears and follows her.
She heads to the sanctuary and they both see rows of grave stones. Flowers and offerings were placed on each of them.
The abode looks to be abandoned and not a single soul seems to love there anymore.
They heard a growl and a massive white fox with many tails emerged from the bushes. Red swirling markings decorated her body and face, as her eyes glare at thr couple.
The demon takes a step back but Miyeong pleads for Celine forgiveness.
"How dare you show your face and bringing him here!"
Miyeong didnt get a chance to utter a single reply before the demon pulls her back as soon as Celine leapt.
He carried Miyeong out of the forest with a very angry gumiho on their tail.
Miyeong looks in horror at the pursuing gumiho.
The moment they reached the barrier of the compound, the demon pushes her into it and tells her to run before he teleports away.
Celine didnt stop.
Miyeong scrambles up and away, running as fast as she can before she shuts the door.
Celine bangs herself against the door, growling and wailing.
Miyeong curls herself against the door, clutching her ears, begging for forgiveness as Celine keeps banging and scratching the door.
The elders rushes toward Miyeong when they heard the commotion.
Even the elders are not willing to step outside and due to the old promise, cannot hurt/kill the gumiho. So, they wait and kept Miyeong company.
All the while they listened to Celine's wailing grieve and despair. Her anger and hatred towards Miyeong.
Eventually, it stops.
One of the elder looks out and sees Celine staring right at her. Shivers run down her spine.
Celine stares at the barrier that was between her and Miyeong. In a cold and detached voice, "You have cursed your entire bloodline for your ignorance. Eomma had warned you. I had warned you. You will never be free from this guilt and shame. Neither does he." A pause. "Neither does your baby."
Miyeong snaps up and clutches her stomach.
The elders were confused before realization start to set in. Oh.
Miyeong opens the door despite the elders telling her not to and what greets her is no one.
Celine is gone and all that's left is a torn photo of the three of them in their happiest moment.
