Headcanon - The Sunlight Sisters carved out a full night from their schedule to watch Mulan when it came out not because they thought the movie would be a masterpiece or were huge Disney fans but because Celine did Mulan’s singing voice and Disney gave her special access to see it early. They watched the movie but Miyeong and Thirdlight spent all of reflection belting out the notes while Celine hid her face in her hands.

Time Travel

Struck with the concept of the girls meeting a past version of Celine and learning how different of a person she was before everything happened.

I’m drawn to Celine because of her implied lore. She kept the honmoon stable by herself after losing Mi-yeong and Third disappearing/maybe dead too. She never truly got a chance to stop and grieve; immediately having a baby to care for, a job to keep food on the table, and a demon apocalypse to single handedly keep at bay.

The loss of Celine’s soulmates and no time to properly/fully grieve had Celine on autopilot. Maybe Mi-yeong becomes a pillar of motherhood in her mind—who she would try to emulate but never take the place of—for Rumi.

Perhaps Third would become her pillar for demon hunting. The devotion Third gave to the honmoon wasn’t theatrical, she truly felt honored for being chosen to defend the world. She committed 110% to anything that would strengthen the honmoon.

Celine unconsciously adopting her lost soulmates core concepts and losing herself in the years she raises Rumi, fights demons, maintains the honmoon, and builds Huntrix.

It would be interesting to see how Huntrix would react to a past version of Celine who isn’t traumatized, yet.

They get to meet Thirdlight and Mi-yeong as well. Helping the girls realize the Celine they know is a mix of Third and Mi-yeong while her past personality was a lot more outgoing, confident, bratty, and humorous.

They only know the traumatized acolyte that trained them.

And in this brief adventure to the past, Huntrix learn how much of Celine was stripped away in the years to come. How—when they return—the empty shell of who she once was is much more obvious.

Headcanon that when rumi was a toddler or so celine pulled a doomslayer for a couple of hours. It was before rumi was making memories and talking, but after celine felt comfortable enough leaving her with a babysitter.

After a long day of performing solo to maintain the honmoon celine is already ready for the day to end. But then a tear opens up so celine asks the sitter to stay a few hours longer at 3x the pay and goes to be a hunter.

By this point, celine is very good at killing demons since she's been solo for years. Even tired, she finishes them off before they can hurt anyone. It seems pretty normal for her, but maybe as the demon's are retreating one says something as a taunt because he thinks he's home free. Maybe something about the dead miyeong or being abandoned by thirdlight.

Celine sees red and rushes the cocky demon not caring that he was already in the demon realm. She guts the demon, but the rift closes behind her, seemingly trapped in the other world, something no hunter has experienced.

The other survivors of the assault are now feeling cocky since celine is on their turf. Maybe even gwi-ma is there and mocks her, say she was an annoying thorn in his side and mockingly compliment her saying she lasted longer than he thought, but her hubris is her doenfall. she is a dead woman walking if she doesn't make a deal. That she might as well be a demon if she's trapped here and the honmoon falls anyway. Better to live on the winning team as it were.

To every cackling demons surprise, celine doesn't look scared for being the only human on a plane of existence. Instead she smiles and basically does the 'I'm not trapped here with you, you're trapped in here with me,' and does what she does best.

I think we can all agree that celine wasn't a perfect mother or mentor to rumi and huntrix. But I firmly believe that she is a killing machine. The strongest hunter in their 400 year history because the world and honmoon wouldn't exist for huntrix to take over.

Demons rush her, everyone from gwi-ma's court to the lowest of the low know she's a dead woman walking and want the honor of killing that last hunter. Every demon she cuts down is more of her strength she uses, she'll tire eventually and more dead demons means that they're more likely that they'll be the ones to do it when she finally tires.

This is a gift for celine, because for the first time since she was inducted as a hunter she gets to stop being celine of the sunlight sisters, or the celine. She gets to just be celine here in the demon realm as she draws her blades. There's no worry about who might secretly have patterns under these sleeves, no more worrying that anyone walking down the street might secretly be a demon waiting to slit her throat. No more chasing demons through the shadows and making sure the secret war is never revealed. Now, for once celine doesn't have to be a hunter, for once it's simple and she can just be a demon slayer

eventually, the demons realize celine isn't slowing down. In fact, she's advancing. With her beautiful and terrible song on her lips, she gets closer and closer to the throne as she ford's a river of demon blood. It gets to the point where gwi-ma turns tail and runs, throwing anything and everyone he can in celines path to keep her away.

It's a large realm and one person can't fight every demon in there own world, but she can put the fear of God in them and their king. It goes on for hours until celine's phone or probably beeper given the time rings. Celine finally stops her swan song slaughter and realize how late it's been. Gwi ma is on the run, but he has been for hours and while her fury still burns not even she can fight forever.

Celine basically takes bids, the next demon who opens a tear to her world gets a free pass the next time they're in her world. For one time she will just chase them back home instead of slaying them. Demons jump at the chance, more for her to get out of their realm, the rank and file aren't planning to go back yo the human world anytime soon.

Celine leaves the realm without anymore killing, but reminds the demon's that theur king fled with his tail between his legs and used them as meat shields to keep her blades from her.

Then she goes home, pays the babysitter 10xs for the extra time and reads rumi a story before putting her to bed. It's months before gwi-ma can put enough fear into his court to journey into the human realm

POLYTRIX STEVEN UNIVERSE AU TIME

(i havent nailed down exactly what gem they would each be bc i was at work when i started formulating this yknow.)

all three of the girls are members of the rebellion who all join around the same time. they’re not high ranking members but they are notable for being a squad that sticks together.

mira is some kind of jasper or something equivalent! she’s strong and durable, but deep down she is desperate for love. before joining the rebellion she was a member of blue diamonds court. she started to resent homeworld after being abandoned on a mission to some planet and left there for years, alone and forgotten. it was only by chance that another group of gems happened to find her there and bring her back. once back at homeworld she began to act out during subsequent missions and get in more and more trouble, until finally she was deemed too unruly and was destined to be shattered. luckily mira escaped before they could get her, and she left for earth to join the rebellion.

zoey is a gem whose purpose is scouting out planets to study them and determine the viability of making kindergartens on. she was a member of yellow diamonds court. she was quickly deemed defective, as her species of gem is often quiet and clinical, while she is nothing of the sort. they would send her to planets to scout them out, and she would return with a lot of information about the planets (more, in fact, than any other gems of her kind) but it was never the information they wanted. eventually they started to send her off on wild goose chases, on planets that were already scouted, to find out specific things about them, just because they thought it was funny to see her scramble to find the information. eventually they decided to send her to earth, thinking that shed be killed by the rebellion upon arrival, but instead, they took her in.

rumi is…different. she was sent to join the rebellion as a spy. shes a higher ranking member of white diamonds court, and is told to shapeshift into an amethyst to blend into the crowd more seamlessly, as her gem type is well known for their sneakiness and ruthlessness, often used as assassins. but the thing is, she was already sympathetic to the rebellion, so she uses this as an opportunity to escape white diamonds control and join

they meet as three wary individuals. mira harbors a deep distrust for gems in general, but especially jaspers and amethysts. zoey has never been taken seriously by the people around her so shes afraid to try and help. rumi is afraid of others finding out about what she was originally sent there for, so she wants to keep to herself.

and then zoey gets chosen to go on a scouting mission. because while the information she would gather isn’t necessarily useful for the war effort, it does matter to the crystal gems, because they love the earth, and zoey’s information is all about how beautiful the planets she visits are

but she cant go alone, so two guards are sent with her

three guesses as to who those two are

anyways its a tense mission at first. mira keeps glaring at rumi, who is sweating trying not to seem suspicious, and zoey keeps starting to talk about stuff shes seeing and compare it to stuff shes seen on other planets, but then stopping

but then they get to where theyre going and god, its beautiful. and it makes them all think about what they joined they rebellion for, and they start talking about themselves, and they start genuinely liking each other. rumis awkwardness becomes endearing to the others, and miras gruffness becomes sweet as she keeps protecting them from things she deems dangerous (including a small frog and some dragonflies), and zoey’s ramblings are enrapturing to listen to

when they come back, not only do they have a fuckton of information about the area they were scouting, they’re practically attached at the hip

and so they do more missions over the course of several dozens of years, getting closer and closer and closer

they spend all of their time together, barely talk to other gems outside of one another, cradle each other’s gems when they get poofed until they come back, and then rib on each others new forms when come out

(one time zoey styled herself after a turtle they saw just before the turtle bit her so hard she poofed. mira told her she looked ridiculous, but rumi pretended the entire time she had that form that she liked it. they both, admittedly, sighed in relief the next time she poofed and came back looking much better)

it was only a matter of time before two of them ended up fusing

its zoey and mira, after mira jumps in and pushes zoey out of the way from some falling debris. they dont even register its happened at first, until they (she) looks over and sees rumi staring, mouth agape at them (her)

they fall apart a few seconds later, but its eye opening for all three of them. because it felt incredible to be fused together for zoey and mira, and rumi thought their fusion was maybe the most gorgeous thing shes ever seen.

they start fusing more often (although they arent interested in being a permafusion) and they offer to fuse with rumi both one on one and as a trio (because its become increasingly clear what they all are to each other), but rumi cant fuse with them because then theyll know what she was originally sent here for, and she just has to wait for the rebellion to win, before she can finally be free to be with them and they can fuse all they want

but then things change.

the gem directly in charge of monitoring rumi was kinda hands off about the whole thing, so rumi never really had to bother sending any progress reports that she absolutely would be faking.

but suddenly, out of nowhere, homeworld starts contacting her again. turns out her supervisor? yeah, she got shattered for, whaddya know, being lazy as fuck. and now rumi has a new supervisor (maybe jinu?) who is far more interested in her progress as a spy. but rumi hasn’t bothered keeping up the pretense for so long that she’s out of practice even being referred to by her real gem type, and she fumbles her way through a fake progress report

they get suspicious, bc of course they do. they send a squad of gems (guess who) who are similar to rumi in their function, whose job it is to hunt her down and figure out what shes up to, as well as do what she couldnt. they go in disguise as well, but the trio immediately spot them. no one will listen to them when they say the squad is acting suspicious, so they have to investigate them themselves.

meanwhile rumis freaking out, bc now her past is coming to haunt her, and she’s terrified all over again that theyll find out the truth. and ofc mira and zoey are like “oh *the type of gem rumi actually is* are so duplicitous and awful theyre gonna ruin everything” and it makes her even more terrified to tell them the truth.

but jinu finds her. however, he doesnt call her out right away, and he doesnt try to bring her back. shes confused at first, but hes pissed at homeworld too. not enough to join the rebellion, but enough to agree to not help the diamond loyalists if they attack.

but ofc, things play out not entirely dissimilar to the film. jinu does reveal to everyone that rumi isnt who she says she is, and that shes a spy by making her change back to her original form, and zoey and mira find out at the worst possible time.

they confront her. “why did you change into a different gem?” zoey asks warily.

“its not what you think! i swear! im not-im not like them!”

“but youre one of them arent you?” mira says angrily. “let me guess, you never wanted to fuse with us because you thought it was disgusting, and you couldnt wait to tell homeworld all about how those two defective gems fused together all the time?”

“no! of course not! i-i was trying to help, so that we could stop homeworld, so we could finally be together, fuse together! jinu said-“

“youre working with jinu?”

“no! well, yes but-but i was using him to-“

“i knew it. i knew it was too good to be true.” mira says despondently, bc of course she thought she could finally trust other gems but ofc she cant, she never really could, all they ever do is lie to you and abandon you and treat you like shit

rumi tries to beg them to listen, but as they do in the movie, they hold their weapons at her. first mira, standing in front of zoey, then zoey herself, feeling she has no choice

rumi runs. the weapons fall. what have they done.

mira cant look zoey in the eye. she can barely look at herself. “what are we gonna do?” zoey asks, but

“there is no we anymore zoey. maybe there never was.” and then mira leaves too. its the most alone theyve felt in literal hundreds of years.

and then homeworld attacks

theyre all split up, and desperate to get to one another and terrified of something happening to one another. rumi comes back, in her real form, and zoey and mira find her, and despite it all theyre so happy to find each other and they love each other so much-

they fuse, all three of them, for the first time, and theyre practically unstoppable.

they save the day, at least in the part of the world that gets attacked, and they kill the saja boys, and zoey and mira finally get a good look at rumis true form once theyve unfused and

“you know its so unfair that youre even more beautiful like this” zoey says

“shes right. you really are more beautiful when youre being your true self.” mira says

and then they spend the rest of their lives together

(yes that includes corruption era crystal gems 😔 if you want you can imagine a trio of three different types of feral gem monsters who are deeply protective of one another. also then they get bubbled together when theyre taken out bc the remaining cgs realize who they are and how attached to one another they were, and know they would wanna be together.

the first thing they do after getting uncorrupted is tackle one another. they then fuse, and stay fused for longer than they ever have before the corruption)

Big sister Zoey who gets kind of a kick out of the fact she's the youngest of the group and the world knows her as 'youngest' but she's big sister to several little siblings. Who calls and checks on them, stays up to weird hours to play games with them online etc.

Zoey on the phone with her mother hearing about how toddler of the group is having testing done. The tired frustrated tone hearing that they think he might be on the spectrum.

Zoey trying to be cheerful and positive because that's who she is, always has to be stating that if he is that's okay, right? Like that's still baby bubby and they'll deal with it. It's not like they haven't before, right?

The unexpected snap back response from her mother that yes they've dealt with it but maybe she doesn't want to deal with it again. Doesn't want to deal with speech therapy and occupational therapy and safe foods and triggers, missed milestones and counselor meetings, medications, IEPs, repeated meetings with principals etc.

It's a phone call that ends quietly with half apologies about it just being 'a lot' (it being 'you', Zoey knows and internalizes the way she has for years, it's unspoken "you were a lot to deal with") and of course they'll find ways to deal with it.

Always deal with it, not embrace it, not go with the flow. 'Deal with it'.

Deal with her (and now maybe a sibling too).

Zoey spends the night and the next few days internalizing it, over-analyzing every word said and unsaid in the obsessive way that was something her parents had to 'deal with' when she lived with them, and now is something her girls have to deal with she thinks.
