Positive mentality for facing LGBTQIA+ Christian ignorance

I am trying to be aware that everyone has a different journey, so I should treat everyone with grace, kindness, and gentleness. Even if their misconceptions and ignorance hurt me, I can choose to be loving, kind, and gentle in spirit to them. I do not know what challenges are facing them. Although extremely important to me, LGBTQIA+ acceptance may not be on this person’s radar due to their own personal battles that require full focus. 

Through this love, I not only respect and honour the faith and life journeys of others, but show myself and other LGBTQIA+ people (Christian or not) as loving, unique and whole people.

In time and through the grace and love of God, hearts will change <3

Reasonable Reactions for Someone in their 20s

1. Rediscover Christianity after years away from the church

2. Make good friends at the church

3. Suppress the shame you are in denial about feeling

4. Mention to new church friends that maybe Christians? Shouldn’t? Hate on gays?

5. Have new church friends agree with you, after all ‘we all sin in different ways, so we shouldn’t throw shade’ and ‘God can purify all sin in time’

6. Go home and make an angsty tumblr blog at midnight like it’s 2010 and your tumblr girlfriend just broke up with you.
