Down the Rabbit Hole || Christian + Anna
Watching sports wasn’t a huge thing for Anna. She couldn’t remember ever watching it with her dad or seeing either of her parents following it. Consequently whenever she heard talks of World Series or Superbowls or Championships or Tournaments, no matter the sport, it all just sort of went over her head. She knew the basics; a touchdown was in football, goals were scored in soccer, baskets were made in basketball, and homeruns were celebrated in baseball. But beyond that she hadn’t ever gained any interest to retain more than that. So when Christian mentioned that she should come over to watch sports, more specifically baseball, she held out as long as she could before finally giving in. It took a few minutes for him to answer the door after she knocked. Anna considered just walking in since she was fairly certain the door would be unlocked but she didn’t want to walk in on a potentially embarrassing or awkward situation. Her back was against the door causing her to stumble and almost fall when Christian had finally decided to let her in. Once she regained her balance she noticed immediately that he looked a little…off. For a split second she considered coming back later, but he quickly covered up whatever seemed to be wrong and returned back to his joking, normal self. "Hey are you alright?" She asked as she greeted him with a hug and collapsed on his bed. He sat down beside her on her right, so she immediately caught sight of the gash on his left knuckles. “Chris what happened?" She furrowed her eyebrows, not sure whether or not this was something to be slightly concerned about. The boy brushed it off, telling her not to worry about it and that he was fine. Anna didn’t completely believe him but she decided against pushing the matter further, turning her attention instead towards the TV. “Baseball huh?" She smiled as he changed the channel to a game. “My knowledge on this goes as far as three strikes you’re out, so you’re going to have to explain this to me unless you’d rather I fall asleep or die of boredom."
Christian plopped down on his bed next to Anna and smiled uneasily. He wasn't sure what was going on inside his head. Everything seemed louder than usual, Anna's voice was seemingly ten octaves louder than normal, and the TV was glaringly bright, practically searing into his corneas. The sports announcers voice was just as obnoxious, shouting the plays and voicing his opinion on the players, and the crowd's screaming and cheering was almost unbearable. Five minutes had almost passed before Christian realized that his eyes were squeezed shut. Opening them slowly, he turned to face Anna, who was looking at him with concern written all over her face. "I feel weird, " Christian stated as he rubbed his eyes which were now starting to sting. "I'll be ok." He managed a smile and pointed to the TV screen. "Baseball isn't that complex of a game. It's pretty simple, but I have to admit it's more fun to play than to watch." He continued to explain the game the best that he could and pointed out the players to Anna and explained their positions. Explaining one of his favorite sports to somebody seemed to have a calming affect on his body. His heart rate finally slowed down to a semi-normal rate and the sounds that were around him seemed to go back down to their normal volume. "Are you sure you haven't heard of any of these players? Most of them are really famous," he asked Anna. "They are Yankees players after all." He turned his attention back to the TV and smiled as he saw who was up to bat. "Ok, I'm positive you've heard of him. That's Alex Rodriguez. He's the third baseman and the shortstop. He's one of my favorite players." Smiling, he looked at Anna out of the corner of his eye and noticed a look on her face. Turning his head to look straight at her, he furrowed his brow. "What?"
Which just proves you were wrong to think everyone in this house is way too serious.
The minute I asked why people were being serious, everybody stopped being serious. Coincidence? I think not.
Well now you did.
Forcing words into my mouth is not something a cool person would do.
No, and I never plan to.
Not even at your own party?
There is nothing worse than being bored.
I’ve heard people say that only boring people get bored.
I would say I hate it too, though I don’t drink, but if I did I would hate it. With some help from Kate, so no not necessarily. Though I’m going to get all the supplies.
You don't drink?
Just you. You’re welcome.
I never said thank you.
Wow that sucks… I’ll try and make sure that you’re invited for the next party then. I’m really sorry.
Are you always this nice to your friends?
Did someone say…party?
Sorry, only cool people are invited.
No, Chris, fortunately for you, it’s all on me.
You're awesome. I hate parties that make you BYOB. Are you planning on throwing it by yourself?
Well, I've decided to throw a party since I figure all of you guys have nothing interesting or better to do. So, what do you say?
I don’t need to bring my own beer, do I?
Never do the 3L milk challenge.
I know, I’m actually now questioning my own sanity. I realised what an idiot I was about a quarter of my way through the bottle.
Wait you didn't actually drink three liters did you?
The second step is to truly not give a shit about what everyone thinks.
That also sounds difficult. Is there really no simpler step?
Never do the 3L milk challenge.
Shut up. I make no sense when I feel sick. I meant you get a pot belly and you feel like death.
Who drinks three liters of milk anyways? That's insane.
Never do the 3L milk challenge.
You will get pregnant, and die.
You'll get pregnant from drinking milk? And then you'll die?
