My fiance and I are both trying to make ends meet, he started work again after covid layed him off and I'm disabled on unemployment benefits until I can find a job that will hire me. A classic example of what abusive behavior in women can look like. This isn’t cute or sweet or just for anyone’s own good, this is controlling.

Young gents (and wlw and nb folks interested in ladies), if your girlfriend or prospective girlfriend presents you a list like this (especially in writing), you crumple that shit up, drop it at her feet, remind her that you are not property, and walk away.

This shit isn’t funny or cute when a man does it to a woman; do not tolerate it just because it’s coming from a woman.

Do not throw something like this out

Keep it. Hide it somewhere safe that you’ll find it again - like where you keep your tax receipts, for example. Keep it in a plastic bag and touch the actual paper as little as possible to preserve fingerprints. Maybe write the date they gave it to you on the bag itself.

Should the person who gave you this try anything to harm you after giving you something like this - this piece of paper is evidence of their harmful intentions. If it comes to the bringing any kind of authority into your situation, without this piece of paper it could just turn into a huge ‘he said/she said’ situation and that’s not a situation you want yourself to be in. Especially if the other person is a good enough actor.

Everyone seems to think that if you’re diasabled, this has always been your life.

No one seems to understand that for some of us that isn’t the case.

I had a “normal” childhood. I was active. I went exploring and climbing. But then my genetics took hold, and I lost that ability.

That brief glimpse of freedom haunts me more than anything. I could run! I could climb trees! I was ME. And now? I don’t know who I am. I don’t know what I am.

I’m confused. That’s it. This isn’t some profound thing. I just don’t know. Sorry.

I fucking feel this.

SIX MONTHS ago, I could walk a mile and be fine. In fact, I wanted to go more. Now, I walk across my house or up a flight of stairs and I want to legitimately die some days because the pain I'm in is that bad. 2 years ago I probably could have still climbed my favorite childhood tree, had that drink, swam laps in a pool and woke up the next morning ready to go. Now I do even one of those things and my body feels like collapsing. (Fuck if you're getting me up in a tree again)

So yeah. I think I'd rather have been born with this so I wouldn't have to see all these pictures and videos my family shows me of what I use to be able to do. And if id just try harder..

I *almost* feel good enough to do something productive.

I sometimes find that more frustrating than the times I am sure I can’t do anything productive.

It’s that same feeling when you drop the remote and your fingertips can touch it but you can’t actually grab it.
