Okay, this one won't be for everyone, but I found it really helped me when I was struggling to cast my protective light again. This is particularly good for empaths.

If you're confident enough to use mind magick and your own spiritual strength then this could be for you. If you're a new witch and you feel confident enough for this, that is absolutely amazing! Here's a little method from me, on how to re cast that all important protective light using your mind with a touch of fire scrying!

A blessed new moon to you all! After the most awful week, I had to do some major release work yesterday. The 10 of Wands came out in my card pull and it couldn't have been more accurate. I have far too much on my plate so it's time to do something about it!

Usually I would burn what no longer serves me during a ritual, but this magick spell worked so much better and I slept better than I have in a week! Worth a try, so I'm sharing it with you!

Type of Earth: Sand

Type of Fire: Candle

✨Take a small jar of sand collected from your favourite beach.

✨Write down the things that no longer serve you on small sections of paper and bury them into the sand.

✨Sprinkle a good layer of your favourite protection herb such as rosemary or thyme over the top of the sand to lock in the spell.

✨Seal the jar and place a candle for your intention on top or beside.

✨Write a list of all the things you will embrace going forward.

✨Light candle and let it burn through.

Attach each piece to your stick.

Burn a blue healing candle and seal each end with with the wax.

Place upright overnight on your altar or outside underneath the moon.

The next morning, the universe will have acknowledged your worries, bury or burn materials. If you need further magickal support, keep upright on your altar as a reminder of strength and perseverance.

I love this spell I made for banishment and release purposes. Here's how to conjure it!

What you will need:

Sea salt.

Black tourmaline crystal.

Stinging nettle.

Garlic mustard.

Ivy.

A pen and paper.

Black candle.

Sprinkle a layer of salt in the bottom of the jar.

Add the nettle and garlic to ward off unwanted energy.

Insert Ivy leaves and black tourmaline for protection.

Write what no longer serves you on a piece of paper.

Insert the paper and activate by lighting black candle.

Leave the water on a sunny windowsill or outside, preferably in direct sunlight. Sunrise, 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm are perfect times for this, or you can leave it from sunrise to sunset. You can also add herbs and flowers to it as well (lemon peels, orange peels, marigolds, chamomile, cinnamon, sunflower, etc.) Or charge it with some stones (like sunstone, orange calcite, citrine, tigers eye, goldstone or carnelian), but please don’t put these stones in the water. You can also make a sun tea with sun water for a very potent solar spell.

Offerings to Cernunnos

Warning: this post contains a fair amount of UPG (they will be italicized). He seems to like it when I give Him certain things that aren’t necessarily mentioned in the sparse history we have on him. So, it’s really just a list of my successes through trial and error.

Coins. Particularly valuable ones. Don’t be stingy. He’s a god of wealth and finances. He’ll pay you back with interest.

Oak leaves and pine cones. He’s also associated with the Wilds. Outdoorsy things are nice to have.

Antlers. Loves them. Probably because…you know, the antlers.

Sex and/or pleasure. …What? He’s got fertility too. He is a god of many colors. But gods typically associated with fertility approve of consent and pleasure. If it’s not fun for you, it’s not fun for Him. Make sense. Oh goodness, I’m a little red. Let’s move on.

Flower crowns. This is a recent discovery. I have no idea why He loves it so much. Real or fake flowers seem to work just as well, either way.

Trees. This one is a bit complicated, I guess. Whether you buy a baby tree or just use one in your yard, simply dedicate it to Him. Bring offerings and things to the base of the tree. Nurture it. Love it. It basically becomes an outdoor shrine/altar.

Wine. I didn’t find anything that says this was a common offering to Cernunnos specifically, back in the day. So, I’ll just put it in as UPG just in case. But good, red wine is a pretty nice gift on occasion.

Food. I’m pretty sure this is a jack of all trades type offering. Everyone likes food. Just a matter of preference. Cernunnos is a hunter so, venison, rabbit, some kind of game bird, etc. These are all good to give. Best done with outdoor shrines. And don’t worry about stray dogs or scavengers coming around and eating it. I was told that that was just one way the gods accept offerings. Maybe not do it too often, though. Wouldn’t want to develop a problem with the local coyotes, now would we?

Hunting weapons. You don’t have to actually use them for hunting, but the sentiment is nice. Personally, I’m saving up to get Him a bow. I plan on giving him an offering out of the first buck I kill. 

Animal Pelts. Following previous logic, dear pelts and things make lovely altar cloths. 

Bones. He’s got life and death in His jurisdiction too. Skulls are probably a favorite of mine to give.

Aside from the usual things that pretty much every being likes, this is about it. At least, from what I’ve gathered through research and experiments. Pretty much anything you gather from outside, with respect to nature, is good in His book. Also, I feel I should probably mention that not everyone who worships Cernunnos has to go out hunting every season. It’s not for everyone. So, no pressure.

Indeed, I am a Cernunnos worshipper who does not hunt, period!  I focus more on his other aspects–the life/death god thing, the wealth thing, etc.  The closest I get to hunting is offering natural things–flowers, leaves, pinecones, etc.–which he seems to like.  I also commonly offer coins–I put them in a little dish, and when they add up to a couple bucks, I take them to a thrift store or something and get a nice thing for the altar.  He seems to like that.  

I would add, though, that he also seems to like less physical offerings–a song, time spent meditating, a walk through the woods with the emotional sense of awe at nature that comes with a good forest offered to him, that kind of thing.  I personally offer a mix of physical and nonphysical things, but if you can’t do one for some reason, it’s nice to know the other is an option.  :)

Is Wicca the Right Path for You?

Wicca is a neo Pagan, earth-based religion.  While it is inspired by earlier European Pagan societies, it does not try to replicate those society’s beliefs.  This is probably the main difference between Wicca and Pagan Reconstructionism, which uses archeological and literary sources to attempt to piece together ancient Pagan religious beliefs and practices. Wicca is also unique in that it includes a heavy emphasis on Witchcraft & Western occultism.  While other Pagan branches may occasionally incorporate aspects of witchcraft, in Wicca witchcraft really takes center stage as one of the main ways wiccans practice and celebrate their religion.  It’s important to note that Wicca and witchcraft are not the same.  Witchcraft is an action whereas Wicca is an actual religion. So if Wicca is a new religion, where did it come from? Wicca was developed in England and introduced to the public in 1954 by a man named Gerald Gardner.  Gerald Garner combined his interests in hermeticism, Druidry, and various esoteric secret societies to develop a core set of beliefs and practices that make up what we now call Wicca.  

The Beliefs of Wicca There are two main deities called the Lord and the Lady or the Great Goddess and the Horned God that are at the core of Wiccan ritual and beliefs.  Some Wiccans view the Lord and Lady as a combination or representation of many different Gods and Goddesses from the various Pagan Pantheons.  Some Wiccans may also choose a specific God or Goddess, called a Patron, to help guide them on their spiritual journey. When it comes to morality, many but not all Wiccans follow something called the Wiccan rede, which states you are free to do as you wish as long as it harms none.  As witchcraft is usually an essential component of Wiccan practice, those that adhere to the Wiccan rede usually do not do curses or baneful magic.  This is also one of the main differences between Wicca and traditional witchcraft. Wicca also does not have much of a focus on the afterlife, which makes it quite a bit different from many mainstream religions.  Wicca, like many Pagan traditions, instead focuses its energy on the celebration of life and the various cycles within nature.  Wicca specifically celebrates the cycles of the moon and the seasons.  Many Wiccans honor each full moon in a celebration known as an Esbat and they may also incorporate the new moon and other moon phases into various ritual work and spellwork.   Wiccans also usually celebrate 8 holidays called the sabbats which occur on the solstices, equinoxes and the 4 points in between.  These holidays make up what is known as the wheel of the year.  Each of these holidays celebrates the seasonality of that particular time of year and certain sabbats are also often associated with specific Gods and Goddesses. Like all religions, Wicca has evolved and changed considerably over time.  Wicca tends to be divided into a number of different secs and lineages.  These are usually referred to as traditions, and each has its own organizational structure, ritual formats, and ways of practicing the faith.  This type of decentralization is both a positive and a negative.  On the one hand, this means that there are many various Wiccan traditions, such Gardinarian, Alexandrian, or Eclectic that you can choose from.  This gives you as a seeker a lot of options to find a path and a group that you really connect with. On the other hand, because there is no central authority it becomes difficult to define what is and what is not Wiccan belief and what the qualifications are for calling yourself a Wiccan.   The advent of the internet has sped up the evolution of Wicca so that a Wiccan witch in their 60s may have little in common in terms of belief and practice with a Wiccan witch in their 20s.  Despite this generational divide, Wicca as a whole has been expanding in popularity and each year it seems like more and more individuals are interested in learning about this religion. Is this Pagan path is for you?   Firstly, I think this is a great path to follow if you are looking for community or a mentor.  Wicca is probably the most popular of the pagan paths, which means you’re likely to find fellow Wiccans in your area that you can learn from and practice your religion with.  Wicca also gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to community so if you like an organized, hierarchical structure you can join something like Gardinarian coven, or if you like to practice alone and draw from different traditions, you could become a solitary eclectic Wiccan.   This religion is also great for anyone who has always been fascinated with spellwork and wants to deepen their connection to the more esoteric powers that may exist within the world.  Becoming Wiccan usually means developing a knowledge base of herbs, astrological correspondences, sacred symbolism, and various western Esoteric ritual practices.  So if you are fascinated by any of these topics then Wicca may be a good path for you.   And of course keep in mind that there is no one rulebook or leader to dictate what Wicca is or is not.  Like many things it’s most likely going to continue to develop as mainstream society continues to evolve and change.
