Thinking about how the residents of Pabu probably have lantern festivals. Ones with lantern boats or floating lanterns, you can decide. Maybe both. And they have a memorial festival for their fallen. Thinking about how the bad batch sees this for the first time and thinks itโs beautiful. Thinking about Echo wanting to make lanterns for his brothers in the 501st, and Domino Squad, and the others from Rishi. Thinking about Rex coming down with his rebellion brothers to make lanterns for all of their fallen brothers. They spend days making a lantern for every single one. Nobody is left behind or forgotten. Tech even pulls up the records to make sure of it. Not that the clones ever forget a brother. Thinking about Crosshair making lanterns for Mayday and his squad. Thinking about Omega making lanterns for all the clones that died or went missing during the testing on Tantiss. Thinking about Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech helping her. Thinking about the first lantern being sent off is one for 99. Thinking about how this becomes an annual tradition for the clones. Maybe Kix gets wind of it, far off in the future. Maybe he sits down and makes lanterns too. Thinking about clones getting a chance to grieve properly.
Trying to not think about the number of lanterns growing every year until thereโs just Omega making them. Maybe Boba would catch wind of it and come make one for Jango. Idk, just thinking about clones. Maybe the lanterns would have different colors based on the battalion. Thousands of blue, green, orange, yellow, red, etc. colored lanterns filling the sky until it looks like there are more of them than there are stars.
Adding on to that thought, maybe the same thing happens on Coruscant after Ahsoka attends one of the memorials. Because you know Rex would tell her about it. Maybe she starts sending lanterns up from the temple every year on the anniversary of Order 66. One lantern for every Jedi. Not just the ones that were killed during the order, but the ones that were killed during the war. Each lantern is the color of their Kyber crystal. And for the younglings that were too young to have one? White. Sheโd have to be sneaky about it, of course. I imagine security would go up after it happens the first time. But I imagine hundreds of lanterns drifting from the temple. Maybe Jedi sympathizers join in, sending lanterns up and running before theyโre caught. But the message is clear. We see you. We thank you for all that you did. We wonโt let your memory fade with the ashes of your culture.
Thinking about Jedi getting to grieve properly too.
