This is what the fuck I am talking about. WHY THE FUCK IS THIS CASTING NOT THEEEEE FUCKING STANDARD? When every show features a woman lighter than the man, its a problem. When all the daughter’s are always lightskinned with 3c hair that’s a problem. If the man is lightskin then the woman has to be (very) darkskin, that’s a problem (bc it is undergirded by the idea that the lightskin man is getting some sorta “African cred” by being with her.) I am always going to interrogate these tropes. We deserve to REGULARLY see the full gamut of Black life not just the same tropes over and over again.
