don't know how controversial this is, but if you're going to let your own past trauma restrict your children's social lives, just don't have children. literally my best childhood memories are the time I spent with other kids playing outside or staying at their house. i've seen discussion about how staying at another kid's house should be forbidden because what if one of the family members is a freak. look, I had a friend who wasn't allowed to visit me when my dad was there, but it's because his behavior was outwardly antisocial and violent (last straw was trying break a car window with us in the car), not because of assumptions. if you assume everyone is going to behave this way, you will become incredibly isolated. the psychological damage is not worth the perceived safety. I used to work in childcare and actually decided not to pursue it long-term (despite receiving a lot of positive feedback) because I was aware I was a very anxious person and had to try hard to hide that behavior from young children. for example, during this time I had severe lilapsophobia, so i'd literally see wind in any situation and assume a tornado is imminent (no I don't live in an area where that happens). I really just had to quietly be on the verge of a panic attack 24/7 while outside at a playground with 5 year olds because I knew deep down the fear was illogical and didn't want to scare them.

hey everyone, asking for a wee bit of help here since youre all such a lovely community and one of my closest friends irl is in a bit of a tough situation.

her cat, obsidian, is her baby. shes had him for 7 years and he has helped her through so much and theyve been through some tough times together. unfortunately he's not been very well recently and shes taken him to the vets because she found a lump on his tummy. he needs a lot of treatment and its way too much. her and her partner cant afford the vet bills and so shes created a gofundme to try and get any help towards him that she can. she doesnt normally do this, she never asks for help, they pay for everything out their own pockets but she really needs help with this one.

she adores obsidian. obsidian is the cat that kicked off her obsession with cats and I believe she has maybe 7 cats? and a dog. I cant quite remember how many but she loves all her pets so much but obsidian is particularly special to her.

ive told her im gonna share the link here just to spread the word and hopefully help my friend out whos been there for me through hard times and has helped me to come to terms with my bpd diagnosis (shes got bpd too). she means a lot to me and her cat means a lot to her so honestly any help is truly appreciated by her (and also me!)
