Simon had gotten a call from Jody about a new movie she wanted him to join in with. She wrote a part specifically for him. He was conflicted on whether he wanted to actually still be an actor but Jody invited him to look around set and gave him the option so Simon supposes he can come and take a look.
Colt, one of Simon’s closest friend who happens to be a stuntman, was one of the only people who reached out after his accident. Simon knows Colt was also in an accident and he isolated himself and didn’t chat to anyone so he guesses that’s why Colt reached out to him. Him and Jody ended up being a lifeline for him so Simon will do this for them.
Walking onto the set made his anxiety go through the roof but he takes a few deep breaths before going inside to find Jody. He doesn’t find her but he bumps into Tom Ryder who Simon really isn’t in the mood to chat with right now. Thank fuck for Colt who rushes over and pulls him away.
“Thanks for that. I don’t think I can handle him right now.” Simon grumbles.
“Honestly I can’t either.” Colt jokes. “It’s good to see you man. You’re looking good.”
“Good to see you too. I want to thank you for-“!
“Dude, you don’t have to thank me. Now come on. Jody is chatting with Ry so we better hurry before Tom finds out he’s here.” Colt whispers the last part.
“My twin brother. He’s a scientist.”
“There’s two of you?” Simon jokes.
“You’re such an asshole.” Colt laughs and Simon snorts a bit.
They find Jody and Ryland chatting away and Jody looks up to see them approaching.
“Simon! It’s so wonderful to see you! Im so glad you’re here!” Jody hugs him and Simon hugs him back.
“Thanks Jody.” Simon answers softly. “So what’s this movie about?”
“We will get to that later. You have to come meet Ryland!” Jody waves the man over and Ryland comes over and Simon thinks he’s the most beautiful man he’s ever seen.
“Hi. I’m Ryland Grace but you can just call me Grace.” He holds out his hand for Simon to shake and Simon does so.
“Nice to meet you Grace. Colt has told me a bit about you.”
“Grace here is a fan of yours~” Colt teases. “Been watching your stuff since we were kids.”
Grace turns bright red. “Colt!”
Simon chuckles softly “it’s ok. I rarely get to meet fans anyway.”
“I’m sorry about your accident. I can’t imagine how terrifying it was.” Grace says apologetically.
“Thanks….I still don’t know if I’m gonna get back into acting. I’m just here because Jody asked me to.” Simon says as he rubs the back of his neck.
“Oh? Well, if you do get back into acting, I know you’d do amazing things. There’s a kid in my class that I teach who recently got into an accident and lost their arm too. They’ve been struggling too but when I told them about you they just lit up.” Grace rambles.
That makes Simon’s heart feel weird. He didn’t think anyone would still want to watch his stuff after his accident but having a kid who probably went through the same thing as him getting to see someone like them on screen? Maybe getting back into acting for those people wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Simon tenses and he can hear Colt, Jody and Grace groan softly. He turns to see Tom Ryder coming over.
“It’s great to see you again! Sorry about your accident but it could’ve happened to anyone.” Tom Ryder pays his shoulder and then he sees Grace. “Hey Ryland. What do I owe the pleasure of you being here?”
“I’m here to see my brother and Jody.” Grace says. “I was talking to Simon.”
“Well it’s always great to see you. Especially since you light up the day.” Tom smirks.
Simon can see Colt fake gagging and he huffs a laugh at that.
“Simon might be joining the movie.” Jody tells Tom. “I have a great part for him.”
“What? As the villain? With his new look he’d do great.”
“Fuck you man. That wasn’t nice!” Colt gets pissed.
“What? He should take it as a compliment!”
“It’s still a horrible thing to say, Tom.” Grace tells him in a way a teacher scolds a kid.
“It’s fine.” Simon mumbles softly. “Should be used to it.” He shrugs.
“It’s not a role as a villain. It’s actually a hero. He’s going to be great.” Jody says as a matter of factly.
“I- a hero? Really?” Simon is shocked but Jody nods.
“Yeah! I have a vision for this movie and you’re perfect for it!” Jody exclaims excitedly. “I’ve talked to Adrian but I told her I wanted to ask you personally. So, will you do it?”
Simon sees them all staring at him expectingly as he thinks. Should he do it? Should he finally get back into acting? He could he a role model and representation for people like him.
